- I was making a shortcut drive through the west side this afternoon to get away from the Ike which was jammed. I took California north from the Ike and was going to go to Lake St and then west.
Around Wilcox a beat up black Ford Crown Vic came careening around the corner EB and turned SB and came into my lane right towards me. I swerved of course because I didn't want to get hit by a car full of the west side's finest shitbirds and then I saw one leaning out of a window with the video recorder.
All of them laughing like hyenas at making me swerve way to the right to avoid them and the video camera aiming right at me. I couldn't get to my snub nose fast enough.
Maybe they'll go head-to-head with a bulldozer one night.

We need pro police Judges on the bench and now is the time to begin the process to make a run for Judge. The judicial system in this county is horrible and we as officers and citizens have to start to make the attempts to begin to change it. Second, is retention judges are the worst thing for Cook County and having to get only 60% is a joke! Unfortunately it’s in the State Constitution regarding retention percentages for Judges. A State referendum is needed to change that percentage. I would suggest it is made to 70%. Now I know SCC was able to get a petition drive going to reduce the number of Alderman. How about we start a petition drive to get the retention election for Judges up to 70%? The bad part is that around 298,000 signatures are needed to get it placed onto the ballot. And I am sure there will be objections filed against it so more the better. With the help of various State or other organizations particularly the State FOP lodge we could get this on the ballot and get rid of some of these horrendous Judges. Let’s get a discussion on this and start the process. The first day to start collecting signatures is sometime I think in September.
I wont dispute that current and past "Command Staff" are less than stellar, the current excitement about the new COMPSTAT making them look bad only breeds trouble for the men and women in blue. They can dump all the exempts they want, but who is going to fill the void? The current and former Superintendent have ensured that experience in Chicago policing is dead. Yes I can confirm this. about the middle of May i was driving north on california from polk (off duty) when i saw a car full jagoffs, both driver and passenger were hanging out the car.. yes the driver to was standing on the gas pedal while half of his body was haging out the window as this was making the driver unable to control the vehicle.. Thye were driving in and out of on-coming traffic, swerving, doing u turns. They were headed north away from me then did a uturn and headed for me.. I quickly got out of the area on a side street.. they almost crashed in to at least 7 or 8 cars who had to swerve to avoid being hit..And almost hit a few parked cars. It was pretty amazing that they hit no one... I did not see a video camera though..Im just suprised that they didnt kill themselves...

Don't keep your backup/offduty gun, whatever it is, on your lap or unrestrained in the car. If you're involved in a crash with the shithead, it will be unaccessible on the floor or something, if you can even keep track of where it's bouncing around. Has happened before, most prominantly in the FBI/Miami shootout in the 80's. Don't be that guy. There are a number of auto specific holsters that secure the gun in your vehicle quite well, or just leave it in the holster and use the 4000lb weapon 1st, then go to guns if the situation requires it. 9mm, 40, 45 whatever, ain't got shit on the automobile for stopping power.
I use an "Ohai" kydex from crossbreed holster velcro'd to the seat of my beater car. It's $40-50. Unfortunately you will probably get the same response I got when I suggested mandatory conscription for everyone who turns 18.
My basis was that since we have both exhausted our military by asking for volunteers, and since parents no longer actually parent, but expect police, teachers, and the government to do their parental duty for them, then it is time to take it to the next step.
I explained to Mr President that the conscription compliance would be 100% mandatory - with NO EXEMPTIONS FOR ANYONE - just like England and Israel. Everyone serves a period of two years.
The first choice would be military - complete with twelve weeks of boot camp to break them of their self-centered attitudes and teach them some self respect.
If they have a conscientious objection to military service, they they MUST server in an alternative form of service. These might include volunteering with the National Park Service, working with Habitat for Humanity, entering the Peace Corps, working as trainees with a road construction crew, etc. They would all make the same wages - they would be paid the same as a buck private in the military, with additional allotments for housing, food, etc.
All would be closely monitored for attitude, gang activity, etc. All would be checked for drugs at least once a year on a random basis.
[In my line of work I can be checked whenever the computer picks my number because I work around controlled substances and have access to highly sensitive data. If the computer tags me one week, I can legally be tagged to piss in the bottle again a few days later. I agreed to such supervision when I accepted the job.]
Mandatory two-year conscription - with Military service as the FIRST choice for everyone.
NO COLLEGE EXEMPTIONS
NO OLD-BOY NETWORK, MY DAD OR MOM IS A BIG-WIG SOMEWHERE EXEMPTIONS.

You wont see much if any difference between the credit union and Chase or Bank of America. Use to have CountryWide till BoA bought them out. Since BoA nothing but problems. Have opened up an Acct and transfered EVERYTHING to BankFinancial in Chgo Ridge. Refi'd my car loan and got a rate 2% LOWER.
Credit Union USE to be awesome. Actually, 6 months ago they were sitting on about 30 cars, and a bunch of bikes they had repo'd.

At the first Compstat meeting 007 District Commander Carothers was a mess. He couldn't put a sentence together to save his life, and he didn't have the basic info about homicides that commanders were told to bring. However that was the first meeting for everyone under the new Supe, and it was understood that it would serve as an example and everyone gets a next chance. At Thursday's Compstat meeting Carothers was asked the EXACT SAME QUESTIONS as the first meeting. He was COMPLETELY UNPREPARED. When an LT tried to bail him out McCarthy screemed that Carothers needed to answer himself. When he couldn't he WALKED OUT. The Deputy Chief ran out after him. McCarthy screamed at DTEB to go get both of them. If Carothers doesn't get returned to his "merit"-lieutenant rank by Monday, it is official-business as usual, and any exempt changes will lack any moral authority.
Lucky you can carry one. I have my Florida ccw. Iowa and Indiana but not here! Someday.

I remember well that FBI shootout in Florida and what happens to a weapon during a car accident. The one agent's glasses went flying also. My snub was in a clip on holster in front to the right, usually easily reached except when one has a seatbelt on.
People are right, time to retire the snub for a .40 or .45 cal Glock with extra clips.
You know what would be a real thrill??
Go to a military surplus store and buy some of those old emptied hand grenades. Put some sting in them that will burn, like cannon fuse or maybe some oil soaked twine. When you see a car load of AH's driving down the street, pull up along side, light the string and throw it in their car.

Agreed and seconded.
Whatever you do or carry never have a weapon loose tucked in the seat or placed in a door pocket.
It should be on your person, preferably exactly where you carry you duty weapon.
Since that is usually your hip, go to the dealer of what ever make auto you drive, no matter how old the car, and ask for a SEAT BELT EXTENTION. The Parts Department may have to order it but it is a freebie because it is a disability issue. You might even get one for the squad car you drive.
Stay safe, use the extension properly and it will safely accommodate your holstered weapon with good fast access.
