Tactical Retreat

  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel will introduce an ordinance next week to allow gun ranges to operate in Chicago.

To obtain a gun permit in Chicago, residents must now travel to a suburban gun range to complete a mandated firearms training course.

The city is currently facing a federal lawsuit saying the city’s ban of gun ranges in the city has created a burden for those seeking a Chicago gun permit.

The new ordinance should address the concerns raised in the lawsuit, officials say.

The NRA and their lawyers are still owed many millions of dollars for their victorious lawsuits over Chicago's illegal and unconstitutional gun ban. They have also filed suits challenging the ordinances passed by Shortshanks and the City Council, and they'll be winning those in short order. Our friends in the NRA tell us of one plan to have the city turn over one or more vacant schools for a "gun education" center and indoor range.

Anyone want to speculate on how much of $30 million Rahm wouldn't have to ask for in union concessions if Chicago stopped fighting lawsuits that they know they are going to lose?

You nailed it SCC!

These intentional and unnecessary challenges to the constitution is nothing more that a state subsidy of lawyer and judges wages.

Politicians trying to validate themselves.

We didn't have the money then and we don't have it now.

Hey the city needs $30 mil. Take it out of the State corporate tax givebacks to Motorola and the like just like they took the Federal FICA tax break away from individuals with the state tax increase at the same time -- figuring that no-one will miss a tax break they never got..

Any word on the range in 004?

Lots of ex-industrial land down there that has no potential for productive use for anything BUT a shooting range. 004 and a range is just such a perfect fit.

Hegewisch, while rapidly swirling the toilet, is still mostly made up of non-shitheads and pretty much all of them are on board with whatever will bring more LE presence to help save the area. Haven't met anyone there yet who is opposed to a range, and I've talked to more than a few.

I received this recently in an e-mail. This explains A LOT about what is happening in our country!

Obituary for America
Born 1776 - Died 2008

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by:
Obama: 19 - McCain: 29

Square miles of land won by:
Obama: 580,000 - McCain: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:
Obama: 127 million - McCain: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 - McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds, "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's - and they vote - then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

McCarthy screamed at DTEB to go get both of them.

Cancelled the grid search and put TRU on traffic control hoping his tact team would make the arrest. Then everyone sat there, and sat there, and sat there waiting for Roy to male a decison about going into the house. That long wait is how they were able to clean the DNA from the gun.

Small item in Friday's Tribune.
Chicago Public Schools and Board of
Education might seek property-tax
increase. Before raising taxes to
fund a failing and wasteful enterprise, why not first go to the
City Council and demand that they restore the Bd of Ed tax money that
Daley diverted to fund his TIF'S ?
Second, reduce Brizard's salary and
eliminate the C.E.O. position as it
is just do nothing job for Matanky
to collect a paycheck.
Third, you are closing schools and
firing teachers, why do you need more money ? And you are producing
defective products, "functional
illiterats" who can barely read,
write, or put a complete sentence
together. Fourth, get on Quinn's
behind and compel the state to
supply it's portion of the money to
fund education. If he can find money to induce a business not to
move out of state then he can do the same for education. In difficult financial times like these with forclosures up, folks
cannot afford a property-tax increase. C'mon Bd of Ed, grow a pair and demand your money from the
City of Chicago and the State of
Illinois. We paid our taxes for you, so make them give it you, we
ain't printing money in our basements to give away at a whim.

An average citizen may make it in the door but will never get home with his/her gun.

$30 million dollar.

How many alderman are we going to cut? Why should this be a dead issue under this economic crisis?

The city does not need 50 alderman to represent the people of the city. They need to take on the added workload like everyone else. "Get some skin in the game!" Lay 'em off. Stop with the protected political elite culture. We don't have the same ratio of representation for the entire state.

It's b.s. and needs to change.

How about one alderman per police district for starters!!

Rahm's raised $10.6M for mayoral campaign

So if the city needs $30 million instead of threatening unions and ruining peoples livelihood's all Ralm has to do is hold a few fundraising dinners with his corporate friends and the problem is solved right?!!

Why is that not an option?

Go raise the money Ralm.

You have the power to command $1,000 dollar a plate dinners for your election campaign why are you unwilling or unable to do the same for the good of the city and the people that you represent!

Alderman Burk is said to have a campaign war chest of over $8.1 million dollars just sitting there. Go hit him up for a million or two. Is he going to take it to his grave?

Some of the other alderman have campaign war chest of over $1 million dollars. Pass the hat and "get some skin in the game"

The alderman alone could cut that $30 million dollar debt in half easy!

These people collect up to $8 million dollars to run campaigns -- you Ralm raised $10 million -- they get elected -- continue to hoard the money while they waste taxpayer money on supreme court challenges to the constitution on gun laws and what the definition of residency means...That money should come out of your pockets, not ours.

Hey, Ralm can raise $10 mil and Burke has raised $8 mil. Chico and a few others raise what..One to two mil. at least. Get off your asses and do some work for the people and raise some money like you do for your campaigns that's all.

Guess what?

This just in… CMS decrees no union pay raises at 14 agencies, boards, etc. - 29,905 workers, $77 million

* From the governor’s office…

Today we notified the directors of 14 agencies and the impacted unions that approximately 30,000 state employees will not be receiving scheduled pay increases in the new fiscal year. These pay increases were part of the labor agreements that were agreed to by the previous administration.

The fiscal year 2012 budget does not provide the money for these pay raises. If the state paid these increases, the impacted agencies would not be able to make payroll for the entire fiscal year, preventing them from continuing operations and providing core services to the people of Illinois.

Implementing a budget is a year-round process. Today’s action marks the first of many steps required to manage the fiscal year 2012 budget.

===

From the AP wire...

[...]

The state promised in union contracts to provide the raises. But Quinn argues the promise is void because lawmakers passed a budget that lacks money for the raises.

====

..and guess what else?

Judges in two states allow pension benefit cuts

=====

All those laws that you thought were there to protect you **poof** they're gone!

The social contract has been broken -- we are in moral decay and I don't expect that this is going to go over well with the masses as it all unfolds...but we will see. Maybe I'm wrong

I guess that in the severe economic times, aka; the ObamaDepression, that even Socialist Politicians will try to connive up some money by temporarily "forgetting" about Evil Guns and their Owners, and try to encourage Gun Ranges to open in Crookago, so the slippery Chizzler Democommiecrats can get their Tax-dollars. Anyone who would open up a private Gun Range , or ANYTHING to do with Guns, in Crookago, is absolutely, without a doubt, fucking INSANE. If you do, get ready for Jesse jackson, and every other pandering socialist, to be picketing your shop on a regular basis, AND the lib-socialist Crookago News Media to be sticking their greasy noses up your ass every day, along with the CPD and the Feds. This is no doubt a double losing bet. Remember the story of the injured Rattlesnake who was nursed back to health by a guy? The talking snake told the guy not to worry, if the Guy saved the snakes life, he promised not to bite him. After the snake was nursed back to health, the first thing it did was bite the guy who took care of it and nursed it back to health. When the startled guy said, hey, why did U bite me, you promised that if I helped you, U wouldn't bite me. The snake replied, "Sorry, but after all, I AM a snake"

WRT: Anyone want to speculate on how much of $30 million Rahm wouldn't have to ask for in union concessions if Chicago stopped fighting lawsuits that they know they are going to lose?

I hope the unions ask that question Why do we have to give back when you are pissing this money away on that? And Burke's and Daley's details.

I would love to know how much money Daley sent to his lakefront lib lawyer buddies in billable hours fighting for Chicago's gun ban. Is this discoverable under a FOIA request?? What was the lawfirm that handled the battle? Who are they connected to?

Seeing as the NRA is going to be sending the city a $5-$7M(?) bill for its legal services, it is only logical to assume that the city's lawyers bills are similar.

So the city pissed away $10-$15M dollars on a BS no-win lawsuit. They were able to muscle some of the suburbs to climb aboard, tho some of them got smart enough to jump off the rushing-to-the-wreck train. They knew when to cut their losses.

Perhaps Rahm has seen it that way, too.

Over the next year or so, it is going to come out how LKR screwed this city into the ground. Instead of a monument on his grave, it should be a Port-a-Potty.

Hey Rahmster...How about allowing retired officers to qualify for their conceal and carry cards in Chicago. Goofy Daley is was so anal about guns he wouldn't even let us shoot at Chicago ranges. I have gone to Joliet and Kankakee to qualify. The City would get a cut of that $75.00 we pay to qualify.

In a related story, CPS stated Kennedy and Taft High Schools are scheduled for closure due to newly-found asbestos remediation issues and have moved to the top of NRA's list.

Also, the Archdiocese of Chicago announced today (04-Jul-11) The Holy See has authorized the transfer of Christ the King's Rectory at 9235 S. Hamilton to the ISRA to create a "SCOTUS compliance nerve center."

Oh happy day.

News is reporting that numerous beaches are closed for swimming due to high bacteria count. That's a new angle, keep the tax payers off the beaches since they can't swim and let the animals have the beaches for the holiday. The animals won't go near the water.
What a sneaky way to keep the taxpayers from going to the beaches and witnessing first hand the lies of the mayor and company. News should ask for the bacteria count reports or do their own over the next couple of days.

I was there that night. TRU was on the scene in minutes with an entire company of officers searching yards in a systematic way before Commander Roy got there and fu@&$d things up. Cancelled the grid search and put TRU on traffic control hoping his tact team would make the arrest. Then everyone sat there, and sat there, and sat there waiting for Roy to male a decison about going into the house. That long wait is how they were able to clean the DNA from the gun.

Commander “Look at me” “Look at me” ROY is still fU#%ing things up, but now he is at Bomb and Arson. Created a shitstorm at OHare Airport last week because he could not be the big cheese. Ruined training for the CPD bomb squad and several surrounding bomb squads. This guy is like Jesse Jackson – do not stand between him and public recognition. All the other bosses know it and detest this nasty and treacherous man. He has had a boner for the last week after the G-8 Summit announcement (it’s all about his resume) – can’t wait to see this egomaniac on a national stage. This man is dangerous. Perfect example of a POLITICAL appointment to a post he has no business leading. Gene ROY - Exactly what qualifies you to be Commander of Bomb and Arson?

To the above who posted about Albuquerque PD, I used to be a reserve for the dept. Patrol Officers out of the academy have base is $60k/year, take home car, AR, carry a 1911 if you want, and you are the f'n police. Patrol is the backbone of the dept and you are trusted by the city. Most command staff have a real tactical background from narc, ert, gangs etc.

I also hope you like 330 days of sunshine, and being 20 minutes away from hiking in the mountains, or riding your motorcycle in the canyons, or your ATV/dirtbike in the open desert.

Also check out the Sheriff's Dept - Bernalillo County.

They like laterals as well, no academy if you have 3yrs.

At Thursday's Compstat meeting Carothers was asked the EXACT SAME QUESTIONS as the first meeting. He was COMPLETELY UNPREPARED. When an LT tried to bail him out McCarthy screemed that Carothers needed to answer himself. When he couldn't he WALKED OUT. The Deputy Chief ran out after him. McCarthy screamed at DTEB to go get both of them.

I was there. This is NOT what happened. Supt didnt scream and AC didnt walk out in the middle.

Yes, he froze up there and couldnt answer the questions.......,
Yes, he did walk out, but after he was off the hot seat.

Unfortunately, E3 and EB walked out with AC after AC was done in the middle of Kup's presentation which think was a dickhead move. Especially since E3 and EB are directly responsible for Kup.
But that is OK....Karma is a bitch and I am sure the Supt saw this move....at least I hope he saw it....

Father says he saved son from abduction at beach

A father told police a man tried to abduct his child this morning on North Avenue beach, and a person was being questioned.

The incident happened shortly before 11 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Lake Shore Drive at North Avenue Beach, said Police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.

Preliminary reports said a juvenile's father saw another man walk off with his child in his arms. Apparently the father snatched the child from the man and summoned the police, who caught and took the man into custody, Baety said.

He could not provide any additional details about the child or the incident.

As of 6 p.m., police were still investigating, he said.

Yep,

Gov. Quinn just recently gave back about $280 million dollars(so far and counting) in tax breaks to his corporate friends and now the state budget is $77 million in the red (so far and counting) and there's no money for the union raises for close to 30,000 people because of it.

The union contracts are worthless and to be ignored with no consequences. The signatures mean nothing.

The words mean nothing.

Do you like how they play the victim too through the whole process?

Yeah we're so proud to be able to do this for you, the political speak goes.

Look at the jobs we saved with Motorola's $100 million dollar tax break.

Yeah, look at it. Where did the money come from? $70 million out of the $100 million is from the city workers pockets - their raises -- the greatest transfer of wealth of all times and more is yet to come not only at the state level but the city level too.

The city workers will now pay for the parking meter contracts via cuts in benefits and/or wages.

You'll pay for the clouted no-bid contracts like the cities towing and auto pound operator and all the rest...

Talk about terrorism? We're going to behead the careers of 650 people if you do not give in to our demands to accept cuts.

What does (CK all these) mean. Check out this article in the Suntimes website...In the 6th paragraph it begins with (CK all these) Maybe they didn't mean to print them on someone order?

About 8:50 a.m. Saturday, a man in his 20s was shot to death in a street in the Little Village neighborhood, police said. The victim was crossing the street at 30th and Karlov Avenue when he and the driver of a van exchanged words, and the driver shot him in the head, police said.

(CK all these) Other shootings resulting in injuries included an 18-year-old man who was shot in the 4000 block of West West End Avenue about 6:05 p.m. Friday, after arguing about money with the gunman, police said. He was taken in “stable” condition to Mt. Sinai. A 22-year-old man standing on a corner in the 7700 block of South Essex Avenue was shot about 7 p.m. Friday after hearing gunshots and running, police said. He was taken in good condition to South Shore Hospital. About an hour later, an 18-year-old man standing in a driveway in the 1400 block of West 61st Street was shot in the back. He was taken to Stroger in serious conditio

Hardiman's Cease Fire Chicago has worked online and on the streets for more than a decade to get guns out of Chicago neighborhoods.

“It's going to make our work a little harder because people are going to start looking at it like saying guns are ok, they have a gun range here now and it's ok to just learn how to shoot and that's what we're fighting against every day of the week,” said Hardiman

If the NRA spent $5-7 mil on legal work to fight Chicago's gun ban, I think it's safe to say that $5-7 mil was kick-back & churn/pad free (something tell's me the NRA is audited a lot).

I honestly would'nt be surprised if Chicago spent $15-20 mil, maybe even $25 mil in no-bid legal fees to connected legal firms fighting the NRA's patriotic case against the gun ban.

If all the public safety B.S. were true about citizens being allowed to carry would result in the 'old Wild West on the Midway, we would be hearing 24/7/365 about it happening in the existing concealed carry states on MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC,NPR & reading about it in the Times, Frib & other nation and Chicago eunech media.

Just to let all the brave hard-working "real police" know what kind mental midget Eugene Leroy is: He called the widow of a police officer on the phone as she was rushing on the IKE to be at her husband's bedside after his heart attack, not knowing he passed, to tell her he died.Forget about letting her have a little hope, or at least get off the expressway and let the family tell her the sad news. Roy had to have HIS moment.
Later when a street gang tormented the home and family of the deceased officer, Roy came down hard on the 9th District blueshirt who gave the police family a little extra courtesy. Roy, this is the one Commander, J-Fled kept?

Confirmed. My old duty station charged $5 a day for civilians to use the range

How about an outdoor range for CPD? Lets start with that. One of the largest departments in the country and no outdoor range. We currently have to drive 75 miles one way to get to the range to get carbine qualified. Hey Ray Ray what happened to our range? You were supposedly the "guy" to get this done. By the way how is being the 2nd swat coordinator going? Kind of like having two assholes, wait, it's exactly like that!

"OT. Has McGoof officially addressed us in any way? I haven't seen a Pax 501"

Yes. There was a Pax 501 a couple of months ago. Look at the CPD Intranet page, click on "Pax 501" and click on the most recent one.

"America has gone completely backwards in the last 50 yrs. What was right is now considered wrong, and what was wrong is now considered right... Think about it."

And as other countries become more free, we lose our freedoms.

"Gene ROY - Exactly what qualifies you to be Commander of Bomb and Arson?"

This is Chicago. He had better clout than anyone else.

"Uh, NO. We need to establish a few ground rules and one of them should be to restrict civilians from access to police facilities."

Uh, we don't do that now. Even after the 14-year-old-dressed-as-a-cop scandal and Weis' alleged security survey by the Secret Service, our facilities are no more safer than they were back then.

Even after that goof in Detroit came into a station and fired it up, we sit waiting dumbly for it to happen here.

Restrict it to civilians with FOID cards.

One of the problems the CPD and othe police departments have is the huge divide that has developed between the average law abiding citizen and the police. I don't have a complete answer for solving this problem but off duty physical proximity can't hurt any.

Law abiding citizen and COC employee wants info on gun shops and ranges in the Chicagoland area. Got my FOID and NRA membership recently. Recall reading info about a range in the Lemont area. I support LEO's and appreciate the hard work all of you do.
