Nasty Weather, but Not Too Hot

  • The hail damaged 64 Chicago Police squad cars parked at Area 4 headquarters, 3151 W. Harrison St. Damage ranged from dents to smashed windows to roof light bars, police said.

Forty-five cars with glass damage will have to be removed temporarily from the streets, said Lt. John Andrews, "but will it impact police service? Absolutely not." He said cars from other districts could be reallocated if necessary, but that need hadn't arisen.
No word on the number of personal cars damaged at Area 4, but it must have been extensive. Looks like Fleet is going to be busy all weekend.

On the bright side, it never did get anywhere near the 100 that some weather people were predicting. We're still looking at low 90's until Sunday, so it might be a busy weekend.

BUT... but... wait a minute... ?

We have dozens of police facilities around the city most with adjoining parking lots. But ONLY the 011th District/Area 4 cars sustained damage?

Hmmm? Maybe the excessive heat on Memorial Day only DID affect ONE beach!

Mark my words!

Tommy Skilling gets a lot more stuff around here right than we do.

But today, I revved up the predictive analysis program on my outdoor laptop and discovered that we were unable to see our shadow under those low level clouds sent in by Zuul and Gozer.

You know what that means.

That's right, Sports fans. Six more weeks of SUMMER!

REMEMBER. You read it here first!

Homan Square got hit hard too. There were a lot of the leased cars damaged and a window on the 4th floor busted too. What a mess! Body damage won't need to be fixed on squad cars but what about the leased cars? Thats gonna be expensive.

010th district had damage to all squad cars as well as all the officers personal cars. God was trying to demolish the west side before the holiday weekend but like the many times before (snow storms, riots, etc) that bitch just threw up the middle finger and said that's it.

I work in 17 , and yesterday we were searching for a wanted parolee who was last spotted by the north branch of the river near Peterson Ave. The marine unit guys came with a big truck and inflated a yellow boat and put on dive suits and got into that stinky river to do a shore search. These guys are crazy but I'm glad they were there!

Just got my estimate for my personal vehicle damage. $7,500.00. I'm sure with "city math" their paying double that per squad car.

Well they started closing the beaches today due to "High Bacteria Counts"

Heh... they should close the Walgreens, the Red line, and the Mag Mile where the latest smash and grab took place for "High Bacteria Counts" too!

File that under your politically sensitive conjured up images that your words create.

BTW...has the department though about getting some of those Boarder Collies to control the mobs yet?

..you ever see those dogs work the sheep?

I'll tell you that's some money that would be well spent on those dogs -- we would have much better results than installing more cameras.

Yes Border Collies!

ON the beaches, in the Walgreens and on Michigan Ave... there you go.

3 dead and 11 wounded so far this weekend.

Dont see any conspiracy here. Hail storm was very narrow in scope and range. I live in 016 barely knew it rain and some wind
Seems it hit on 011 like a tornado where one town is devastated, a few miles away no damage

Why didn't our city leaders think of the "Bacteria" stuff on Memorial Day. That would have been better than the excessive heat story. They could have thrown a dozen corpses from the morgue floating in the water to make it look good. I sure would have ran West!

So, riddle me this...I understand that there are size/zoning constraints(009,Homan,ironically enough 011,etc.), but why are some districts good enough for parking garages, and some aren't?...in 010, we don't have a choice...so now, we are dealt with having to pay anywhere in upwards of $1000.00out-of-pocket for damage...wish I was an A/4 Tact.Lt, and was afforded the luxury of an absolutely unnecessary, misused, wasteful, tax-burdening take-home Crown Vic(silver), which is in grave need of gas/GPS auditing...
