Circumventing Rahm

  • Chicago Teachers Union officials want to make their case directly to aldermen to counter the blitz Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration has undertaken to institute a longer school day.

Union president Karen Lewis sent out letters to aldermen Wednesday, inviting them to attend one of three private meetings at a Loop hotel Monday to “share our vision for Chicago’s public school educators and students.”

And they've got a few takers already:
  • Ald. Nicholas Sposato, 36th, said it will be helpful for the teachers union to explain their position directly to him and his colleagues at the Monday meetings.

“I think teachers have gotten vilified lately,” said Sposato, a Chicago firefighter who supports a longer school day. “Somehow or another, things got twisted around about this.”

Ald. Timothy Cullerton, 38th, said a longer day is a good idea, but trying to implement it school-by-school is not the right way to go about it. “It’s just how we implement it and what we do with these extra minutes. . . .I don’t agree we should entice one school against another school,” Cullerton said.

We'll have to see how this plays out.

Rahm wants to circumvent work places rules negotiated & agreed upon by Contract. Watch & see the stunts he'll try to pull w/FOP.

They are wasting their time talking to the rubber stamps. Rahm knows they will do what he tells them. They need to start the grievance and lawsuit process. Their union seems slower and more useless than ours.

Rahm is circumventing the teacher's union and their contract. Why shouldn't the teachers circumvent Rahm?

This is why coppers better figure out that "reduce the council by 25" is an asinine bandwagon to jump on.

Do you think 25 or 50 is easier for Rahm to control?

You need to strt befriending these folks.

I just want everyone to remember one thing when the teachers b*tch about not getting a "raise":

- They still get cost of living increases,

- And they still get "step" increases.

Raise or no raise, the numbers on their paychecks are getting larger. It's a measure of how spoiled they are that they don't consider rising paychecks a "raise".

Mr Rah is going to cut all contracts to the bone. All contracts should state that as the economy gets better contract levels automatically change to match the economy. Because things will turn around and when it does the money should go to pension plans and back to the worker bees. We do not need any more flower pots and iron fences or bike racks!

Did rahm evr apologize to Ms. Lewis for using the F word .
No man should ever talk to a woman like that.

It's easier for citizens to band together to get rid of aldercreatures if there are only 25

Rahm is playing this like he is a short timer. We need to wait him out. Slow those contract negotiations to a trickle, like Trickey Dick did to us. Make him give to us if he so values expediency. And don't jump at the F'n retro money, its worthless in the grand scheme. Secure pension in original form, hold down medical out of pocket.

Greg Bella put in his papers at Area 5 . . .

Word is the city not only try to get rid of the age 55 Insurance deal but also the age 60 deal that has been in our contracts for at least 10 years.

Mike Shields/FOP is a goof if he attempts to try and push quick contract negotiations with the city.

The game plan should be to sit on our hands just as the city has done for the last 30 years of negotiations. Hopefully the economy will come back in a few years and we won't get our asses handed to us in arbitration by then.

There were 50 alderman when the previous thieving mayor was in office. Parking meters, tollway, miegs, the billion dollar millinium park over runs, flower pot boxes, TIF's, and countless more acts of f%*king over the citizens/taxpayer of this city. All actions rubberstamped by the non-mensa members of the council. Back in the day we had, shiller, who would stick it to elmer fudd, now, we have wagenspack, reilly and afew others like flores, preckwinkle who have since left, to actually look at the crap richie tried to run down the throats and give a little hell, but thats it! All the others are idiots from the parts of the city were the illiteracy rate is above national average and the choice of alderman reflects that. So, i would have to disagree with the post, where it would be a mistake to want 25 vs 50. Lets cut the city council in half and get a referendum for term limits. If the alderman cant do in two terms, what needs to be done, adiós contaminos. With 25, the alderman, in certain wards, that have minimal taxpayers and even less populations will be absorbed by bigger more diverse wards, that have taxpayers/property owners. The beales, brookins, burkes, solis would have more competition and elections would be more ineresting. The alderman would be beholden to more people and elections wont be so slamdunk.

Make no mistake my friends. Rahm is going to try and implode the city of chicago just like our president is trying to implode our country so his socialism policy can be instituted. Decertify all the unions first. Then replace them with private sector companies who will kick back to Rahms presidential compaign. Then start implementing socialism on a small scale here and then on a larger scale when he get's to DC. When you think about it, if 35% of the people of this city can exist without working you would almost have to conclude that socialism was born long ago . It's time for entitlements to go. Cap all entitlements at 4 years total lifetime and you're done. Live by working or dye by starving, simple. All these people need is an incentive to get off their lazy ass to go to work and if its a choice of eating or starving they will work. The only problem then becomes that the democrats will no longer have the ability to buy votes. This is just an extension of how Chicago used to do it way back when. They would give you a half dog for your vote. Today we the taxpayers are paying 10 half dogs every day to every person on welfare.

EXACTLY!! I have a friend on the CC and s/he tells me that Rahm wants to reduce the size not because of budget issues/savings, but becuase it reduces the number of aldermen and women whose balls or tits he needs to twist to vote his way.

A gorgeous young lady in spandex passes them by:

rahm to daley: " How'd you like to screw her " ??

daley replies: "Out of What " ??????

reduce alderman to 20 , tax paying citizens will have a choice . We will be able to field a canidate and beat the machine politician.

Ya think daley was forced out , leave or face a grand jury ??

Think about it.

Greag Bella is in the inner circle and knows we're in for a sh-t storm. thousands will be taken from our budget , we'll probabbly lose some holidays , uniform and duty availability . Supervisors will lose the 45 minute a day comp overtime and quarterly cash overtime checks .

Once the G8/Nato riots occur, Emanuel will have GREAT difficulty selling the idea that police are unimportant and not deserving of raises or benefits.
Wait til at least then before pushing anything related to contracts.

And I guarantee if that happens, the city will lose any semblance of productivity for the rest of this career.

Fuck Rahm, fuck McCarthy. Please remember, Rahm needs us more than we need Rahm.

Oh yeah these teachers that took the money ARE "SCABS"
