Hey, Look - Bears Win

We didn't cover the Bears yesterday seeing as how it was the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. We know the NFL did a good job combining the remembrance with the pageantry of the season opening weekend. We just didn't feel we could come off of the 9/11 posts with a happy, cheery post. No big deal.

In the meantime though, the Bears looked pretty damn good:
  • The Bears didn't just announce to doubters they're to be taken seriously in the NFC this season. They screamed it.

A 30-12 dismantling of the Falcons in the season opener Sunday at Soldier Field was as much an affirmation as it was a victory. They took apart the conference's top-seeded team from a year ago piece by piece, dominating at the point of attack and winning in all phases.
And they got out mostly injury free with just two players looking at a few weeks off (so far). Not bad.

There are two inalienable truisms in the world of Chicago Football...

1) 1985 is the basis for everything, forever.

2) No matter how good the Bears may look now, there will always be a lingering suspicion that it's simply an illusion that is destined to break down the following week.

Hey as a former US Army Paratrooper I was very upset that there was a Mexican independence day parade on 26th st on 10th anniversary of 9/11. As an American whose parents r Mexican. How could the city allow such a thing to happend and put every copper in 10 and the city that should have been on high alert for terrorists deal with a bunch of gangbangers. I couldn't believe the crap I was hearing on radio in 10 it was embarrassing as an American as a Mexican.

Don't jump on the superbowl wagon yet. It's only the first game. How long before Urlachluster gets hurt and sits out the season?

Ha!! All you chumps who thought trading for Cutler was a waste can now quiet down. We ended up with Knox out of the deal and Orton is still a bitch!

A scan through the season schedule shows probably 4 to 6 losses and another trip to the playoffs. Anything can happen at that point, though.

This does not count the "variables" like injuries (Bears AND opponents), trips to London, etc. but after one game, hope springs eternal!

Looking forward to Marion Barber helping out with those red zone problems.

I think they just got off to a good start, most teams are still getting their football legs back, and for whatever reason, the Bears got theirs back quicker than the Falcons.

If they show up for the next couple of weeks against the Saints and Packers like they did against Atlanta, I'll adopt that whole "better than we thought they were" attitude.

Until then...

In 024 they had nine officers doing traffic control for David Axelroid's Misericordia fundraiser during 9-11.
Only 11 patrolmen on the street serving the public.

It's only happened once and he is rarely misses any games, so it's not likely at all. Go back to sleep.

Packers will hand the Bears their collective ass again this year. Twice.
