Impersonators
Police are looking for three or four men accused of trying to get into Northwest Side homes by pretending to be Chicago cops.
In three separate incidents in the last week, the men, ranging in age from about 18 to 36 years old, knocked on the doors of homes, telling homeowners they were police officers or undercover officers, a community alert from Grand Central Area detectives said.
In each, the men had police paraphernalia, such as gold badges and radios. In two of the attempts, they got into the homes but later fled in a large, dark red SUV or navy Blue Town & Country van, the alert said.
Hunt them down.

They hit the east end of 022 on 31 oct 11. 3 gypsies.....one of them was well over 300 lbs. Drove off in blue van....they lured the Vic outside saying somebody was fucking with his garage. They had fake badges and walkie talkies. Then Vic saw other two inside his bedroom........
The Fire Captains daddy was Fire Commisioner for a short time and I believe his last name is Altman. He should be in prison for what he did to that officer! Look what poor Cozzi got for slapping an asshole!

Someone needs to start looking into Ald. Ed Burke's celebrity courtesy of passing out police and fire badges to local celebs. My relative is a local celeb and flashes his police or fire badge around as a conversation piece AND to get through airport security lines.

16 is so short manpower that calling 911 is pretty much a waste of time. Arm yourself and blast them if you have to. We need a description of these slime balls so the people in the tax paying districts can police the streets.
I lived on the next block over from 5000 gunnison. I didn't receive any kind of community alert. Funny, how the 16th dist gets left out,
What worries me is how am I to treat the cop that knocks on my door... Its not like this is the first time. Some guy with a gun belt, badge, etc maybe even saying "I have a warrant for looking for and you open the door and in they come barging....
Now what happens? I defend my self? most people have never had cops pound on their door (I have... my neighbor is 2 time felon). We need some standards here to citizens have some rights in these situations. even if armed I would have a REAL PROBLEM shooting someone with a badge even if I had doubts about them.

No Parking Zone Reminder
Parents, please note that the east side of Osceola Avenue adjacent to the school and parking lot is a No-Parking/Tow Zone when school is in session.
Recently, the City of Chicago Department of Revenue has begun to enforce no-parking zones around the church and it may be reasonable to expect similar enforcement efforts around the school.

If this episode in 014 near the river really happened the way as stated here...shame on the officers who "pulled the fire captain off of the P.O." and didn't immediately put cuffs on him and take him into custody. That is unless the story has been altered from what really happened.

the issue i have with ticketing for marijuana is this: i think the number was something like 23,000 people arrested for less than 10 grams. i'm all for weed being legal. as it is right now, cpd uses weed as a tool. you keep shitheads off the block for 4-8 hours. now if those shit heads aren't getting arrested, i think you'll see a tremendous spike in shootings. you're right, we really don't care if shit heads kill each other. but no one has brought this point up. i hope the ticketing thing does pass, just so i can see if i'm right or not.

If it's gypsies doing this, then the media and CPD should use the term when reporting these crimes to the public.
Many of the victims and a lot of NW Siders are older and immigrants, they know what a gypsy is and may be able to spot one a mile away.
If the public knew what to look for, they may even call 911 if they see a 'suspicious person' that looks out of place.

I spotted an imposter on the 5th floor at City Hall!
Ponytail on top of her head, short sleeve open collar shirt and BDU black pants. She was guarding Rham's door, barring the clergy members asking CPD to leave the Occupy protestors alone. Mostly, she appeared to be primping for the Ch 7 camera. I have not reviewed the uniform order since the reissue/renumber, maybe this is the look for the uniforms assigned to City Hall?

Real police badges look like shit, usually flattened from sitting on them, and most of the letters have fallen off. Hope that helps.

Maybe they were just older looking Trick or Treaters.
When I was a kid, Halloween was second to only Christmas and your own birthday. We would spend weeks creating our costumes, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Mummy or a soldier or a pirate. And these were made costumes not bought.
Was it just me or did anyone else notice that there were fewer Trick or Treaters than ever this year and very little effort spent on costumes. The kids that came to kids that came to our door were more beggars than Halloween revelers.
One of the larger groups of kids has their parents with them and here there were few costumes and everyone looked very glum. No yelling, Trick or Treat! No smiles, nothing, just holding the bags open as I dropped in the candy.
As the kids walked down the stairs I noticed one in the back of the pack. He was wearing a gray suit and fiddling with a Blackberry. He was wearing a Rahm Emanuel mask. I motioned him to come and get his ration of candy and he just looked at me with those raccoon eyes of his, turned and walked away.
I asked one of the parents on the porch what the heck was wrong, why was everyone so glum and what was with that kid in the Rahm mask?
The parent said that the Rahm-kid was taking half of everyone’s candy and charging the parents a buck and a quarter for every block they visited.
Oh, well at least one kid worked on his costumes.
On Tuesday, 01 Nov, the CFD dive squad responded to 2 men in the river at North Ave. After pulling th men from the water, CPD Marine unit van arrived on the scene and 2 CPD officers, 1 in a wetsuir and 1 in uniform were told by a Cfd captain named Altman that they could not come on the scene. When they attempted to wald around the Captain, who was highly intoxicated, Altman grabbed one officer J.S. and threw him to the ground where he struck his head on the rocks. When the officer attempted to get up, he was punched repeatedly by Altman until he was subdued by CPD and Cfd personnel on the scene. The fireman then hustled theit drunken Capt onto the fire truck and fled the scene.
A beat car was called the scene, a case report prepared naming Altmen as the offender and CPD officer to hospital for treatment.
Altman placed in custody and taken to A/5 where ADS Georgios initially approved charges against Altman until he received a call from City Hall ordering Altmans' release. Altman is the saon of Edward Altman who was Fire Commissioner until being forced to resign over a video of a racially charged retirement party at a south side fire house. Did I mention that the battered PO is black? The PO was advised to get a warrant. Can you believe this? Only in Chicago could an on duty PO be the victim of an Agg Batt by an on duty clouted fire Capt and be told to get a warrant. Unbelievable!

I am told that thers is a video of the fire dept captain attacking an on duty PO. The video is from the North Avenue bridge camera and shows, without a doubt, that the PO was brurally attacked be the drunken fire capt. The video is in police custody.

014 dist 01NOV11 approx 0100hrs North Ave & river RD# pulled for battery to P.O. Offender listed is a CFD Captain injured officer is IOD. City hall is attempting to cover the incident up. If you want answers look it up or for the media file a F.O.I request. Also it's believed that WGN has it on tape. Officer should make some big money on this one with a lawsuit against CPD & CFD and city. Oh and the FOP also knows about the battery. Lets see How Shields handles this one.

I doubt he gets so much as a nickel beyond normal injured on the job benefits. Employees covered by worker's comp or similar systems lose the right to sue their employers over on the job injuries. It is part of the deal.
There may be potential to sue the attacker, but unless there is some actual financial loss, there is not much to sue for since the losses are largely made up by the city through its injured on the job benefits.

Citizens if you don't think the guy at your door is a cop, call 911 and ask for a supervisor in a marked car. If it's the real police it won't be an issue to do this for you.

Maybe they were just older looking Trick or Treaters.
When I was a kid, Halloween was second to only Christmas and your own birthday. We would spend weeks creating our costumes, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Mummy or a soldier or a pirate. And these were made costumes not bought.
Was it just me or did anyone else notice that there were fewer Trick or Treaters than ever this year and very little effort spent on costumes. The kids that came to kids that came to our door were more beggars than Halloween revelers.
One of the larger groups of kids has their parents with them and here there were few costumes and everyone looked very glum. No yelling, Trick or Treat! No smiles, nothing, just holding the bags open as I dropped in the candy.
