Orton?

We could see this working out. Maybe:
  • The last time the Chicago Bears lost an injured starting quarterback for an extended period, Kyle Orton stepped in and helped the team enjoy a remarkable season that ended with an NFC North crown.

Although the Bears will replace injured quarterback Jay Cutler with backup Caleb Hanie for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders, they're still looking for a veteran backup, and Orton suddenly is available.

The Denver Broncos waived Orton on Tuesday, making him available to the Bears and 30 other NFL teams. A league source confirmed to the Tribune that the Bears are interested in reacquiring Orton.
Funny how things come full circle.

back to the 5 yard slants and a sluggish offense--- haney is a stud and will prove himself if given the chance---

The Bears will not claim him on waivers. Every team in the NFL who needs a QB is ahead of the Bears on the waiver list and if any of them claim Orton, it's a moot point. The Bears also don't want to pay the $2.58 million he is owed on his contract for the rest of this season. They'd rather sign him for less money if he clears waivers.

Don't see him being much help, having ZERO experience in the Mike Martz offense. I guess, though, he couldn't be much worse than the other names being tossed around as potential 'veteran' backups available.

I don't know that Orton is the best QB for the Martz system but he does fit the bill of an experienced veteran.
I'd say it's definitely worth a shot as long as Kyle realizes that as of right now the job is Caleb Hanies to lose.

Orton is 4-14 over his last 18 starts. Is he really the answer? He was 3rd string on a team forcing Tebow to be a starter. Orton is more like the Purdue alum that is the current QB in Indy vs. the Purdue alum who is the QB in N'Awlins.

I heard that Lovie Smith tripped at Halas Hall, injuring his leg and they're going to resurrect Abe Gibron to coach the rest of the season.
Oh yeah, big changes this week.

You got that right! Who gives a rat's ass? The Chicago Tears, aptly named because there is nothing left, but the crying, are going absolutely nowhere. Why? The 25 foot tall speed-bump called the Green Bay Packers is the reason! Go Pack!

He still has to get by 29 other teams before the Bears get a shot, and the rumor mill is that the Chiefs are going to pick him up.

He'd be a good addition, although I don't think you get to the Super Bowl on the backs of either Hanie or Orton.

Claimed on waivers by KC, Dallas and Chicago. He now belongs to the KC Chiefs. Bears immediately signed Josh McCown as their veteran backup.

Orton was only going to back up Caleb Hanie anyway. Hanie should be fine.

Although Orton is a HUGE Libtard and looks like a Foo Fighter he's a decent QB, and a nice guy He will be worth the money as a back-up to Hanie.

This is not a Martz offense, more of a hybrid. Also, I'd take Orton, a veteran who has played a game this season, over any other guy who hasn't played a pro game for an extended period of time.

And to those who think Favre is an option...bahahahahahaha.

It's an oxymoron to say anyone is a nice guy and a liberal. I wish him all the worst. Fuck that asshole and his Capt. Ahab neck beard.

Actually when Jay went down Denver contacted the Bears and offered Orton to them for a lowly draft choice. Denver even offered to eat most of Ortons 2.58 million salary. The Bears cheap as they are refused hoping Orton would clear all waviers whereas Orton would be a free agent and the Bears would sign Orton for cheap dollars. KC screwed up their plans. Bears were than forced to sign McCown, who hasn't played in 2 years, signed him for under $300,000, When Hanie goes down everyone will known why McCown is known around the league as McClown and why the owners of the Bears are known as cheap bastards.

This is bullshit ... if you knew anything about football you would have known that the trade deadline passed a couple of weeks ago.
