Bears Go For Five

The playoff push is in full swing:
  • San Diego's struggling offense is having trouble protecting the ball, and not surprisingly, the Chargers have lost their last four games.

In a matchup of teams heading in opposite directions, the Bears look to continue their playoff push Sunday when they open a stretch of four straight games against AFC West opponents, beginning with the Chargers at Soldier Field.

Chicago's playoff hopes seemed slim Oct. 10, as a 24-13 loss to Detroit dropped it to 2/3 and three games out of first place in the NFC North. The Bears (6-3) haven't lost since, however, and are in possession of the conference's final wild-card spot.

Favored by 3.5.

They are a smart team, and a smart team WILL NOT expose their best players, ESPECIALLY their QB, to possible injury in meaningless games once they clinch the Division and a playoff spot. Going undefeated is a 'fan thing'. It is NOT what is in the best interests of the team or it's shareholders (Yes, the Packers are a publicly held corporation, remember?). Winning another Superbowl IS in their best interests.

How stupid would the Packers look if they clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs BEFORE the final couple games and then lost Aaron Rogers to a season or career ending injury in a meaningless game? It's natural for fans (and players) to want the undefeated season, but...

If you're a Green Bay fan, good for you! But it sounds more like you're a fickle fan who roots for the winner, changing sides, not sticking with it.

I'm a Bear fan, win or lose, so I'm not jumping on any band wagon. If they win, great, if they lose...well, there's always next year.

P.S. I think they're going to win, we'll see won't we!

On the pre-game show, they pointed out that in order for the Packers to go undefeated, it means that including LAST season, they will have to win TWENTY FIVE STRAIGHT NFL GAMES.

They have the talent but not many teams can go 25 in a row without a loss.

Then why do the SMART Packers risk injury to players like Rodgers, Jennings and Finley by throwing the ball around with a few minutes left when they're up big.

I can't wait until one of these jags snaps a fibula during one of their blowouts.

Gotta love these Chicago Packer fans.

Bye bye cutler you jagbag. Look at the bright spot he don't have to fake an injury in the playoffs this year. Also lovie can blame injuries and demand an extension of his contract. Leaving the bears to suck for years to come. Go packers an organization that is class through and through.

I agree with one poster - Bears look great when playing really mediocre teams.

Sigh.

Such the knowlegable Bears fan you are. Teams the Bears have played so far are combined 46-44. Take away Minnesota and Carolina, and they are combined 42-28. Yes, I agree that is playing "less-than-mediocre" teams. You must be a Giants fan like McNutty.

You people bad mouthing Cutler are sick. He's easily the best quarterback we have had in 30 years. What has he done wrong. When the bears sucked in the past everyone blamed the owners and no one blemed the awful quarterbacks we have had. Does anyone remember moses moreno or even david craig. What is wrong with you people. How about cade mccnown and no one bad mouthed these guys as much as people attack cutler. Even jim miller and kramer were awful when compared to jay. You people need to move to greenbay or I need to move LA and become a raiders fan were fans support you thick or thin!

While the Pack surely wants to go 16-0, are not going to collapse if they don't. The ring is the thing.

Doubt that Pack will run the table. Too many tough teams to go through. Lions twice, Giants, Raiders and especially the Bears, even without Cutler. Hanie did well against the Pack in the NFC Championship game, remember? With more time to study Pack defense, he could be tough.

They have just held on to wins the last 2 weeks.

I wouldn't be worried a lot about the loss of Cutler as much as I would if it were Uhrlacher that was out. THAT would be a MAJOR blow.

Haven't kept up much with football this season - way too much going on - but I do know Andy Reid blows big time and I wish he'd get fired. I think the Eagles would be so much better off without that fat POS!

As for the Bears, are they doing any better than the Eagles?
