Can't we all just get along?
- Nothing will happen, CFD get anything they want! They are taking over the 2nd floor at 35th street and will not allow any CPD personnel on the floor which includes the gym! WTF is this, it was CPD and now they come in and say its their gym now, these no balls bosses won't stand up for us so anyone who wants to work out is screwed. Except I'm sure the Supt!
Anyone have the real story?

only thing I heard from the inside is that the whole 2nd floor is being painted red... WTF.... If this is true it's bullshit ( about the Gym ) and if this is just a rumor to try to divide us with the CFD thats bullshit also... someone please please get to the bottom of this shit
I agree with this completely. I don't think most of you should be in a gym filled with heroes that have spent thousands of hours detailing cars, baking lasagna, and watching MeTV. You should be asking them for autographs, that is if they're at work and not out working a scab tradesman job.

It's department property. Move it out to a district that will use it. Our machines are all broken with no replacement or repairs in the foreseen future.
All the gym equipment and for that matter EVERYTHING has a little blue sticker that says, Property of the Chicago Police Dept.". I guess u just need to relocate it and not allow CFD to use the lobby to get to the second floor. They can use thier hook and ladder to get in.
Parking insane before the CFD came to the bldg. Now what. Not much thinking as usual. More people in the bldg, great. It has sunk more than 2 feet and is leaning at about 18% angle already. Thanks to the minority contractors that the city forced on the job. Hate to be in that bldg when it falls.
Send some "CPD Occupiers" over there.

Rumour has it they are removing the gym and installing a big screen TV, Beds, and a kitchen with a fridge full of booze to make it feel more like a firehouse.
The same reason we have drunk on duty CFD fire captains attacking police officer doing their job. How about an on duty drunk CPD captain attacking an on duty firefighter? Front page news baby!!!
I hear that they are having workmen come in to work on the elevators. They are removing the buttons for the second floor and putting in keyed locks so only CFD has access to that floor.

GOOD! Maybe some work will get done on the CPD side. Some people ( mostly from the 5th floor) would spend an average of 2 hours in the gym while on the clock.
They are supposed to be moved in by 18NOV and yes they are trying to take over complete control of second floor.Rumor has it, they gave them the second floor so they wont have access to floors 3-5.

That's Bullshit! Lockers which Police still occupy. Some of who have 3 plus lockers and are no longer in building, including many exempt members. So, for CFD to come in and do this? It's a little far fetched. As far as the Gym? Heard nothing of the sort. If that happens? That would be just silly.
Lets get the facts first. Could this be rumors trying to get the Police and Fire divided for up-coming contract talks. Ram-a-doms plan divid and conquer!
Next CFD will want a whole section of the what little parking there is just for themselves and these chicken shit bosses won't say boo.

So, you want to go to the gym at 35th? Well, then just walk by the new crowd huddle around the entrances to the building on a smoke break, another CFD habit, and press two on the button and go on up.
Nothing is going to happen, nobody will say anything, and things will be just as they were before. Except for the new crowd of CFD guys standing around the barrel smoking in front and the absolute horrible and BORING stories being told at 35th now.
Those stories all start the same.... This one time at the firehouse... SNORE!

A vast majority of firemen (women) in Chicago are decent folks. Don't get angry at all of them for the actions of a drunken connected asshole who doesn't know how to control himself. These are the same folks who come to our homes to help us.

Who starts these Bullshit rumours?. the gym will be acessible. What is the difference who works where ? the building is under utilized and this makes common sense instead of paying big rent a block away, You guys need to grow up, do your job and thank God that the paychecks are still good.

CFD is not taking the lockerroom or the gym they are not painting the walls red either. HR is moving to 4th fl and the 4th fl is moving to the 3rd fl. The evaluators are not being keyed for VIP access to the 2nd fl either. So stop all the bullshit already. CFD is in our house now and I think they realize that. Besides at least the mens shower was fixed and the lockerroom is being painted. Find something else to bitch about that matters. Oh like the drunk CFD Captain that put his hands on one of our own.
Never knew the building even had a gym.

WALSH Construction (Union Laborers) were responsible for erection of not only Police HQ, but for a ridiculous number of Construction contracts in this fucked up, clouted city. Let's not forget Kenny Construction too! They run head to head with Walsh getting all the huge city construction contracts. So get your story straight!
I was at 35th St. today. Coppers I asked about how they felt about being denied access to the 2nd floor and cafeteria were pretty disgusted.
But it's like people have just come to expect the worst and accpet it--signs of the times. You know what we need? We need an OCCUPY 35th St.

All cfd personnel have been courteous.some walls r supposedly being painted red. HR moving next week to various areas on 4 th floor. Gym still open to all.Swat applications opened up today til 16 Dec

Now I wasn't there, but were there any signs on the site when it was being built that said 'JV' or 'Joint Venture' ? Guess what that means???
Paperwork for the new 15th district says in part

So guess what? who cares who the 'connected' contractor is, the law says 30% WILL be MBE/WBE. The GC has to use whoever is out there. Take a look at some of the masonry work in 015, I guarantee someone used their finger instead of a jointer.
They have also taken over a big part of the MUHQ, which under the current circumstances should be interesting.

Lets face it, the guy who heard about the gym has, most likely, never seen the inside of that gym or any other for that matter. Oh yea lets not forget he heard it from his sisters boyfriends uncle, who in "in the know". Rumor and truth are two different animals and we should try not to feed one of them...
