Only 188

Few than last year, but in light of the shrinking city work force, not surprising:
  • Fewer Chicago motorists had their cars towed this year than last on the first morning of the city's annual winter parking ban, officials said.

The city's Winter Overnight Parking ban took effect at 3 a.m. City trucks towed 188 vehicles this morning, down from 215 last year, according to the Department of Streets and Sanitation.

City officials have worked much of the week to remind motorists of the annual seasonal ritual that restricts overnight parking on 107 miles of the city’s most critical arterial streets -- regardless of snowfall -- until April 1.

Flurries tonight, but not enough to trigger the 2" parking ban.

Yeah, lack of manpower sums it up! On my way to work @ OEMC, saw at least 10 vehicles parked on Madison between Halsted & Laflin @ 5 am.

Since they tow "Snow Tows" when there isn't any snow, perhaps they can start towing "Rush Hour" parkers when it isn't rush hour...?

Told a lot of people at their cars that the street would be one big Tow Zone at 3AM. Shinned the spotlight on the sign on the pole.

It was nice to hear, "Thank-you Officer."

It was nice to think, "Screw-you Rahm."

Lost revenue from fuckin with the workers.
I talk with many city workers from various departments and most are just going through the motions while woundering how much worse it can get.

This is what we old timers called...being the police. Ya see
kid, we used to watch out over the neighborhood. That meant the whole neighborhood. I guess it's different these days.

OT: Does anyone read the Daily bulletin anymore?? Do they have any editors??

Gems from 29 NOV:

....forwarded to the Director, Records Services Division, (DSO 09-15). Theses requests can be forwarded directly....

Specifics deleted for clarity:
Ernest T Brown was formerly the WWW,XXX,YYY, and ZZZ, as well as many other positions.

So, he was the "as well as many other positions",too, huh?
I think I want to apply for that one.

Hey graphic arts, how about reading and correcting the stuff that's e-mailed instead of just cutting and pasting into the Bulletin? Talk about bringing discredit upon the department.
My 4th grader has a book you could borrow if you need it!

Of course there are fewer. No one can afford to park or pay to get the boot off.
