Overnight Parking Ban Time

The Tribune has a big old reminder up with a bunch of interesting statistics:
  • 215 victims tows the first night last year
  • 127 victims tows the second night

The Sun Times has a list of fees:

  • You’ll face a $150 towing fee, a $50 ticket and a storage fee of $10 per day, which increases over time.

Remember, this is the complete winter parking ban - it doesn't matter if there's snow on the ground of not. One hundred seven miles of road off limits between 3 AM and 7 AM, which means if you're an insomniac and you live on one of these streets, you have just under three hours to move it or lose it.

The over/under is 205 tonight.

No problem. Tow all you want. Just another reason NOT to come downtown and spend money.

When will all you bureaucrats learn? Keep raising fines and sales taxes and no one will come into the city.

All the foreign workers who work downtown go out to the suburbs and up to Wisconsin to buy all their clothes and other items. We see them up there every week.

They do not support the city or county with THEIR purchases. Why should we?

With the $100,000,000 bailout going to SEARS and others, how many Illinois residents' jobs is Illinois actually saving and how many foreign Visa-holding workers are there in their place?

Funny how the Chicago media is clueless on this. Where is Carol Marin, Chuck Goudie,Jay Levine and all the other hacks?

Illinois should NOT be paying any money to any company that is employing cheap foreign labor instead of Illinois residents who are US citizens.

Anytime this city can stick you up for a dollar they will. It doesn't matter if they didn't allow any cars on any streets when it snows. The city still fucks up removing snow. Remember LSD last winter? What a cluster fuck. Daley blamed everyone but himself for that fiasco.

I'll take the under, as everyone else will most likely take the over. The majority usually loses.

Working at a bar on one such street is a hoot. At 2:55:00 pm, the tow trucks appear out of the mist. At 3:00:00 they start hooking everyone up (a real problem on Saturdays, when the bar closes at 3, and the bartender is still counting out). It looks like a synchronized towing team from some post-apocalyptic Mad Max Olympics. Luckily, the hookers and drug dealers who live upstairs are mostly illiterate, so they and their customers are among the first victims every year.

O.T. :
As the department starts to implement their new "ideas" with drafts written specifically to attempt an end around on current contracts how much money will all this eventually cost the city as the grievances pile up?
I'm sure Rahm and McNutty could give a rats ass cause after all it's Rahm's way or the highway. How do you think Rahm would react if he had a binding contract with someone and the other party flagrantly abused and neglected their end of the contract? That little fucking Napolean would be screaming bloody murder and would be on the warpath big time.
It's time for the FOP to take off the kid gloves and challenge this lying, thieving prick at every turn. It would be nice to also see the FOP speak out in the media every time this weasel tries an end around on our contract.

For those younguns who were not around for some of the great snow storms, 1979 for instance, I was. The snow routes were put in because of the mess the city was in. I think it is a good law. The only thing I would like to see is some sort of grace period for charging for a tow. Possbily the first week. But, some people just do not care to read any signs.

Just another thieving move on the city's part!

Why anyone would park on these shitty streets is beyond comprehension!

Your always better off moving to the burbs than staying in this shithole!!

Today I saw a Denver Boot on a vehicle parked on the parkway portion of their residences side drive! About 6 inches of the car was protruding past the curbline. the Boot was on one of the rear wheels! Sweet. Dept of Revenue shows NO MERCY!

Watch your Wallet. Fuckin Democrats ONLY want to snag your money, they could care less about the Snow. Just look at the mess from last winter that they left for days. When it costs THEM, they're slow, when it costs YOU, they're fast.

The City got me about 10 years ago. There was only one sign on the block. The animal tow truck driver did over $1,300 damage to the front of my truck. I got the money from the City but it took 9 months. That was fast. I went and leaned on the alderman and he got me a check once the City approved the payout.

You don't want your car towed? Read the effin sign, jocko. Same whining every year. The signs are up year round. get with the program. and remember, the money generated pays our meager salaries.

If the sign is there, and you ignore it, then you are a dope.

I hate it when people complain about getting tickets that they have earned.

"I did't know it was a bus stop", like the enclosed shelter five feet away along with the sign weren't there.

"I didn't see the fire hydrant" Hey dumbass, it's the bright red iron thing right next to your car.

"I didn't see that it was a crosswalk". Whats wrong stupid? Can't see the white lines and the pissed off lady trying to get across?

"I didn't know I lived or worked on a snow route" Can you read a sign? Do you watch or listen to the news where for two days before December 1st every talking head mentioned it? Or didn't you see the map in the paper?

Hey stupid, turn off the ipod, get off the phone and PAY FUCKING ATTENTION!
