Ares Armor Backpack

This was all over the citywides today and coming across the PDT every two to four hours:

That's actually kind of cool. Just under $300 for the carrier. We think the armor is sold separately.

THe bs message made it sound like like every shitbird will be sporting this. Baggy pants and pistol in waistband, nothing else. What kind of tactical idiot from HQ thought this might be used by our local garbage on the corner?
I don't remember last time somebody got arrested with pistol and holster.

Whats the big deal, it don't cover much. The bad guys never buy much. They steel most stuff and put it into their waist-band. How many bad guys even have holsters, and I'm not talking about security guards. They should have been giving us the info so we could buy it for off-duty. Department is a joke.

How many recovered from streets?
Years ago they made a big deal about the cellphone pistol. Only the goverment makes or has them. CIA shit. None ever recovered. The department should put more energy and time on shooting skills. There are a lot of people in the general public who train and can out shoot 98% of the police. As they say get back to the basics. search all persons and bags. Take your job serious; especially shooting skills and drawing your weapon.

The plates *WILL* be extra, I only know of one shop that has the plates for $300 and that is U.S. Palm which makes a great product for the homeowners.

The .mil folks should make some recommendations on plates, just keep in mind that the lighter the plates, the more expensive they get. Still the Ares backpack is an excellent platform!

The manufacturer is that of a US Marine. The packs are PLATE CARRIERS and the plates are sold seperate. The idea is for an active shooter situation. It's a clever idea actually.

Funny thing about G8, no logistics done on where to house mass arrestees. A need of a secure room for thousands of people, while providing food, accessable water, and toilets.

More reasons why we need more firepower. The department has its head up their rear when it comes to combat, weapons, and 1950 type officer safety tactics. Back; Sir. Please Sir. Excuse me Sir. Sir; there was once a time when fathers made their kids call them Sir.

In my life time Chicago will be lost to high crime and drugs. We lost most of the South Side.

How I'm looking forward to retirement. Have fun kids its been a blast. The good times on this job are gone along with the good bosses.

They better start making a duffel bag so it can fit around my belly. The backpack vest doesn't cover much. All hipe! Nothing to worry about sports fans! Put some sweat in at the range.
If they care about us. let us get some practice ammo and range time. With court, late arrests and working special who has time. 24/7 Police.

This thing has been out for a few years. Saw it at a firearms show. I guess the department never looks into new technology where firearms is concerned. With civilian carry across the country they have lots of concealed clothing on the market. I've even seen a bra holster for the Ruger LCP. Check out the NRA store for that. About five different companies making built in holsters in pants.

The public is arming them selves and across the country police departments are down sizing. Get the picture. Its every man for them selves.

Kung Fu Joe said; when he reaches for that parchet cord, kick him dead in his teeth. Now the department does not authorize kicks but this is a life saving moment. With the force of the kick and weight of his backpack on his back he will land on his @$$. Deal with CR# later.

Thanks for that great tip; Kung Fu Joe.

Two men were shot and killed this morning as they sat in a vehicle stopped at a traffic light in the Rogers Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

The 26-year-old driver and 27-year-old passenger were each shot at about 12:46 a.m., causing the vehicle they were riding in to strike a tree in the 7600 block of North Sheridan Road, police said, citing early reports.

News stories here from Chicago Crime Commission boss, Jody Weis, where he says the last 4 months murder numbers from 2011 showed a trend in the WRONG direction due to gangs. Gee, it almost sounds like Weis is saying HIS ideas to run the CPD were more effective than the McGoof who is currently in charge...

2 Weis stories at:

Wait till January's numbers are finalized. We already know that we're WAY OVER last years January total.

There will be a "Prayer Vigil" in front of 26th & Cal at noon on the 26th of Jan, the with a real rev, Father Dan Brandt. Chicago Police officer need to bring attention, media and otherwise, to the trail of Lamar Cooper. Cooper killed Officer Nate Taylor. CPD officers are looking for Justice and asking the Good Lord to aid officers in their fight against crime and/or evil. This previously convicted felon should be found guilty and never sees the outside of a jail cell as long as he is on the face of God's green earth. We will never forget. Stay safe.

I have a question about Comp Stat and what is happening within our department. Over the weekend, we had a Chicago Police Commander passaway in New York who was there for comp stat training by the New York police Department. Four questions. Did all the commanders attend this meeting because my commander was in the station over the weekend? Does this mean only a certain amount of commanders attended because changes are coming? And why are we sending people to New York for training? Isn't that wahat McCarththy and his crew from New York are here for? Just wondering, and God rest the Commander.

Not very practical. The coverage area of the vest is rather small.
You would do better to simply buy the newest & lightest body armor
to wear under the shirt, and wear
a paddle holster to conceal a pistol or revolver on your waist.
You can buy nylon ammo or magazine
pouches that hug the body close
under the shirt too. That would be
a much more practical setup than
the 'backpack' ensemble.

Went to Gat Guns yesterday and found that there were clases beginning for Utah and Florida Concealed Carry Permits. Evidentally You DO NOT have to reside in those states to obtain these permits. Yes you can actually live in Illinois get a Utah permit but cant carry in Utah because you are not a resident of that state but can carry concealed in Wisconsin, because WI allows Utah permits. WTF wonder what other loop holes are with FL and other states.
