Weather Isn't Going to Save This

Homicides for January of this year have already surpassed last year's January totals:
  • Twenty-nine homicides have been logged so far this month. Police recorded 28 homicides in January 2011, RedEye data shows.

And if our readers aren't mistaken, this is the fifth straight month that homicides have shown an increase over the past year (September 2011 thru January 2012).

Eleven days to go.

hey wait... when did they disband msf and tru? I know they are one bag police and not elite but show of force still trumps all in most cases... so tell me GMac.. do you still not need officers in some sort of citywide unit?? No? Ok, ill see what you think in the beginning of may when the first real warmth hits.. they will start killing like crazy and you will be able to do NOTHING. At least if you sent 30 cars from msf or tru they were in the area and visible... they were stopping people(for nonsense in most cases) but it still helped quell crime through visible policing. but hey, im just a stupid blue shirt who doesnt know anything...

The guy who was shot at 72 and western Thursday morning died Friday afternoon. Soooooo would that make it 30 homicides for January? Just wondering if we were doing real math or City of Chicago math.

It is standing room only at the County Morgue. How many of those stiffs are homicides? Can't hide the bodies any more. President Prickwankle is sending "members of her staff" over to the Fishbein Institute (Crook County Morgue) to figure out the mess. Will we see trucks loaded with "cargo" heading to Iowa at 2am? Hmmmm.

it is only going to get worse because the current administration of this department is looking to jam up as many coppers as they can--- many officers are out there who want to do the job but have chose to sit on their hands because nobody has their backs--- shaky coppers turn into shaky bosses and we have truck loads of them here--- the gangbangers know that they can operate with impunity and will kill each other no matter what the weather gauge registers....

Scc,

Heard from a friend in Finance that several of the compstat Lt's got an all expense paid trip to NY to learn the compstat process. Is this a joke? We don't have money to hire more officers. We are merging districts together to save revenue. The dept can't fund equipment for g8 and the xo fiasco is supposed to save money we don't have.

Wouldn't it make more sense to fly one guy from NY here to teach these people? Can anyone verify if this really happened?

Funny, when the ""stats"" are in the negative, you don't see Rahm or Gary on the news but the second the ""stats"" are in the positive, they can't get enough air time. I think this year will be like all the others. Shuffle and change the numbers and continue to lie to the public about how dangerous Chicago really is.

No. He and rahminator will close another district, so that the contract isn't violated of course, and send everyone to districts where the LOW LEVELS of crime are occurring.

Boys and girls! We had better start organizing and unite because our union is being broken and the current FOP is showing, on a daily basis, they are not up to the task.

This FOP is missing only one letter, "L", after the F.

Maybe the feds should place you in a Federal Prison just for that thought.

You want to do Police work "the old way"? No one would have your back in these current times....

A lot of the problems could be fixed if Police Officers were protected like lawyers and judges.

Also, if prisons were a bad place to be for the criminal and sentences were actually for the amount of time the law states....

Remember Cozzi my friend...... As far as that goes, remember how cops like Metti were wronged just because you are a Chicago Police Officer.....

We are treated worse than then murderers and filth that are terrorizing our streets. Dont believe me? Go watch some testimony in any court. Police do not get any respect anymore. Our word is not worth near as much as the convicted felon crack head witness who sleeps under a bridge.

This "kid" wishes it was 20 years ago too.....or I would of become a cop anywhere else but Crook County.

Given the current 2012 Homocide Stats,
wouldn't Tony "Top Cat" Carothers make a better Superintendant of Police?
The City can send GMac backpacking to Newark, New Yawk or New Guinea - I really don't give a crap.
Pay Top Cat his District Commander salary and lets save some money, we're getting the same results.
At least can we make him our 'Honorary Supertinendant", because something tells me TC will be around longer than GMac.
What's the Chicago record for January
homicides and shortest time in office for a CPD Superintedant ?
Did CPD really need another 'outsider' to f@ck things up even more?

Did you know the budget to run Compstat is about 5 mil. That's right, 5 mil to achieve approximately the same results!

Exempt staff is about to have a melt down. The transition to Station Supervisor is not going too well. GMAC will continue to bully until someone shows some balls and integrity to call him out. G8 will be the beginning of the end for the Coney Island hotdog. The locals won't want to shoulder the burden of destruction and failure. Exempt 101: never embarass your clout.

Compstat is the answer, its the cold, its guns, longer school days. etc etc. When the hell is one of these so called leaders in this city, county, state, country going to admit that the Democratic Party and Republicans too, have created a sub culture that is completely depended on the government it is usless to society as a whole and will eventuly be the cause of a great disaster. Nobody has the balls to say it. A day with no gun violence, a day without a shooting, a day without Blah, Blah, Blah. Were not pissing on your leg, it's raining.

Scratch the Michael Collins... He doesn't know any better so Bushmills seems more his speed.

Nawwww... "Olde Bumpy-Face" seems about right.

We hear many exempts planning to jump ship right before and right after G8/NATO because they don't want to be left holding the shit-purse when it goes bad?

Heh... Here's a prediction for ya ass... In the very near future exempts are going to be made to check their weapons before every Cumstat group hug & rub-job... G-Mac can't have his beholden underlings objecting too strongly over the abuse that comes with being made to wear the "Kick Me" sign, er... gold star.
