As Predicted

Way back in October, we wrote that this was going to come back and bite McStreetlights in the ass:
  • THIS IS AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION AND IT WOULDN'T BE PRUDENT TO COMMENT ON SUCH A MATTER AT THIS TIME LEST I INTERFERE WITH THE OFFICER'S CONSTITUTIONALLY AND CONTRACTUALLY PROTECTED RIGHTS.

Lo and Behold! Guess what happened?

  • A federal judge today ordered that Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy answer questions as part of a federal lawsuit over a fatal shooting last summer by a police officer.

Last October the Tribune wrote about the officer, Gildardo Sierra, after he shot three men – two fatally – in separate incidents in a six-month period.

McCarthy had told the Tribune that the first two shootings were justified but that the officer should have been taken off the street and assigned to desk duty before the third shooting.
The preliminary offer put forth by the plaintiff attorney is $25 million. Hey Rahm, maybe you should look for someone you can put a muzzle on quicker?

Your Fire Commissioner left rather than watch you fuck up one of the finest fire fighting brigades in the world and you picked a Police Superintendent who can't hold his liquor and can't keep his zipper OR his mouth shut when common sense said he should do both.

I hope you NEVER get elected to an office where you have an opportunity to totally dismantle the entire Federal government, because that is essentially what you've done to whatever is left of Chicago that the Daley Crime Family didn't already destroy!

I'm not a policeman so maybe I'm missing something. Why would an officer be flagged for duty on the street after two justifiable shootings? Doe's McCarthy have some psychological insight enabling him to predict violence? I've never seen so many appointed and elected officials in Chicago stomp on the people they serve to self promote themselves while the whole nation chuckles!

Some officers are shit magnets and are forced to defend themselves with deadly force. If these were deemed good shootings, why take him off the streets and even worse, why put the city on the hook for a big bill because the new supe couldn't put his foot in his mouth fast enough to prevent such stupidity from coming out?

Hacker group Anonymous is calling for NATO/G8 protesters to barricade Chicago for the whole month of May. Add that to the 50,000 protesters that AdBusters is rallying, and May is going to be... interesting.

Anonymous also hacked into law enforcement websites last week in Salt Lake City, Syracuse, New York, and Boston, plus a justice ministry website in Greece. ABC7 writes:

Police websites in the Chicago area were not affected, but there is reason to suspect the group Anonymous is winding up to sucker-punch Chicago during the G8/NATO summits in May.
On the group's YouTube channel and website is a message for Chicago: An escalation of the protests.

Why Were The Trillions In Fake Bonds Held In Chicago Fed Crates?

While there is precious little in terms of detail coming out of the latest and literally greatest "fake" bond story in history, the BBC has been kind enough to release the pictures of the boxes that the supposedly fake bonds were contained in. While we reserve judgment on the authenticity of the bonds, what we wonder is whether the boxes were also fake. Because while we can understand why someone would counterfeit the Treasury paper itself, what we don't get is why someone would go the extra effort to also create a "fake" compartment in which to store it. In this case a compartment that is property of the "CHICAGO FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM." Perhaps Fed uberdove and Chicago Fed President Charles Evans will be kind enough to explain why Versailles Treaty Chicago Fed crates are floating around in Europe (and filled with $6 trillion in supposedly fake bearer bonds)?

[...}

Joey Mogul, an attorney at the People's Law Office and one of the lead attorneys on the recent $6.2m Chicago Police Department settlement for improper arrests at the 2003 anti-war rallies – does anyone see a pattern? – leaned over to me with a fascinating question: if the City is arguing that the parks need to be closed at night from 11pm to 6am, then how come they remain open for corporate speech 24/7? Aren't the McDonald's, Chase, Exelon, Boeing, etc, signs, advertisements, images, also speech? How come they get to be there 24 hours a day?

For a long time, it has been a mystery as to why the police turned around. But the mystery may now be solved. Here's verbatim from the affidavit that the presiding judge, Judge Thomas More Donnelly, reviewed yesterday:

Yep, was just filed today. I know that this same capt was sued by an officer a year or so ago But I heard about the suit this morning.. sounds like the same stuff as the lawsuit filed last year except there are alot more stronger allegations and claims in this one. the plaintiffs attorney must be drooling over this. You have the supt of police stating on television that the chicago police department missed the fact that an officer may have had trouble and "SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF THE STREET." This statement alone puts an automatic guilty finding against the city for the plaintiffs death. They will get a ton of money. What GMAC is saying is that they city knew about it but did nothing. Now this man was killed by the officer and the city is at fault. they are not going to get 25 million but I think they will easily get 6-12 million in a settlement.... which is much much more than what they would have gotten if they went to trial and mcdumbshit didnt open his mouth. its even possible that if it went to trial it would have been a winner for the city... but now, no chance in hell. Mccarthy is to blame for this one. get ready chicago, your about to pay a whole lot of money because of this moron.

I have yet to see a superintendent that the rank and file liked in my twenty plus years on this job. Wake up people , your not going to get training for the G-8 or get better equipment. You have to stop depending on this department to supply you for the chaos that is coming. You must take care of yourself.
Things to have;
Plastic gloves
Plastic wrap ( wrapped around your shield and helmet will stop piss dripping in)
Get a short haircut( helmit's get real hot)
Matches
Water
Protien bars or beef jerky
Extra socks
Drill you stick and put leather strap on it.
Coffee singles ( I like my coffee )
Band aids , medical gauze and ain't bacterial cream( may take awhile to see medal personal if cut or injured )
These things can be put in your cargo pants and the rest in your helmit bag the helmit bag can be tied to your duty belt,
I maybe wrong , and I hope I am but it will get nasty out there. Also remember if the shit goes bad downtown districts will go up . Keep supplies in the vehicle with you. You may not be going home for a few days. Laugh at me if you will , but I will not share my coffee singles for those that don't listen. I worked 30 hrs in the bulls repeat in 92 In 007, i was hungryand thirsty it never happened again......

The lawyer accusing the poor Sergeant of racism is former ASA Torreya Hamilton. She offices with former ASA and Hillard's counsel Tom Needham and they have at least nine civil rights cases against PO's that they are on together. Tom has both of the Morado cases agauinst Handzel and the 008th District officers. And others against CPD officers. Needham and Torreya are seeking punitives. Both of them had coppers for fathers. OT about G8 / NATO. I was reading up a little on just how Chicago ended up with this fiasco. I am not understanding how 9.5 could circumvent the City council and arrange for this nonsense to occur here in Chicago. I am truly concerned about the possibility of Policemen, Firemen, Paramedics, or any other worker assigned to this event being badly injured or killed by the violence. I am really pissed about the fact that this is being allowed. Can anyone post suggestions on how this Mayor can be stopped and the events be cancelled?

He stupid, your obviously not the police. All three shootings were investigated throughly and found to be justified. The officer is not trigger happy, luckily he survived all the shootings. McDrunk was wrong to say anything...he should have told the truth...the shootings were justified, and he should have said if people are going to shoot at police, we're going to shoot back!!!. We're not targets, we're not punching bags. Go back to your occupy march.

Makes you really want to do real police work. Do any,ANY bosses back you at all on CPD? Now another 25+ MILLION gone to some scumbags estate, that money could of been used to hire much needed coppers,or to shore up the PENSION FUNDS!

Cook county judges and sick leave

http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/10717297-418/cook-county-chief-judge-defends-sick-day-use-by-judges.html

Cook County’s chief judge has issued a rare letter defending jurists’ use of sick days after nearly 5 percent of all Cook County Circuit Court judges took more than six weeks of sick time last year — including one judge who has been out of work for more than 10 months after a shoulder injury.

Talking about Supt who throws a working cop under the bus, I noticed that Bill Cozzi's address has been removed from the right hand side of the home page and it says "Good Luck Bill. " Is he home now?

Could have sworn I saw him the other day working a security job, but I've never met him and wasn't in uniform, so didn't say anything. If it was him, pretty amazing who gave him a job. Talk about rubbing J-Fled's nose in it. Maybe this guy does like cops. Not saying who, since I don't know that it was Cozzi. Maybe Northern can post.

Well, that depends on any number of things. How big was this "unarmed " guy? How big was the officer? How crazed was unarmed man? Was unarmed man impaired, on something, in full crazy as a loon attack mode? Was the officer, who knows their own capabilities, of the mind that if he got into a physical tussle with unarmed man that he might very well lose his own weapon and get killed?

In Englewood, as well as many other neighborhoods, many people do not listen to verbal direction and will take a crack at jumping the officer. Even if it is only one on one, I certainly would seriously consider shooting unarmed man myself and deal with the aftermath. Why should I risk my own life to save the life of some asshole who would attack a police officer?

I am over 60, still on the street and if some young crazy comes like a raging bull at me he will get shot, I am not going hand to hand with anyone, those days are gone. What matters the most is that I go home after each shift. I don't give a shit about giving any "unarmed" man a fair shot at killing me.

Years ago 6 officers, including myself, had a hell of a time arresting one polish guy who was drunk and whacked out on coke. 6 police officers! And he gave a good fight to all six of us. It isn't like TV, one martial art move and they go down.

This Polish guy was over 6 feet, worked construction, strong as a bull, was being arrested in front of his girlfriend and wanted to kill us all. Once they get a hand on your weapon, they are no longer unarmed.

Off topic but a bombshell for 018. Looks like a class action lawsuit was filed by several 18th district officers against capt zawis, sgt braithwaite, sgt byrne and members of IAD and IPRA. Looks like several officers from 018 have been keeping very good notes and have been doing a whole lot of documenting. almost 30 counts against the sgts and captain of racism, discrimination and conspiracy... not just african american officers but white officers too. looks like some 018 2nd watchers are lookin to get paid. Minimal coverage on it though.. only saw it briefly on one website on the internet but they have a link to the complaint itself. Sounds like bullying to me. I cant wait to see the outcome of this case!

AMEN!!!!!

At the end of the day did someone ask him why he made those statements?
I think the only response he could give is what Ralph used to say to Alice and that is:
BECAUSE I HAVE A BIG MOUTH!
It's obvious that McWarstories has never had the pleasure of an all day pressure packed deposition in which every answer given is potential ammo to rip you apart at trial.
When he speaks on any issue he always comes across as a know it all, bullshitting phony East coast wanna be tough guy.

What the fuck has happened to our department?! A stolen U Haul truck strikes an 011th District PO and continues w/b 290. At 2320 hrs the truck is traveling w/b 290 with our helicopter following. 1120 AZ terminates the chase, telling the zone that the state police can handle it. "NO 011TH DISTRICT OFFICERS SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN THIS CHASE, SQUAD!" Using the balancing test, I don't believe this should have been terminated. The kicker is that about an hour later, the damn truck showed up again in 011, and supervisors were stepping all over each other screaming about how the chase was terminated long ago and that no 011th District officers should be involved. I guess he now has diplomatic immunity. This. Place. Sucks.

I have yet to see a superintendent that the rank and file liked in my twenty plus years on this job. Wake up people , your not going to get training for the G-8 or get better equipment. You have to stop depending on this department to supply you for the chaos that is coming. You must take care of yourself.
Things to have;
Plastic gloves

You know what? You can't spell, but you're dead-on with this info.
;-)

Water,
an extra cellphone battery,
extra radio batteries if you can get them,
a five-pack of baby wipes to get your hands, face and neck clean and dry...
Yeah, I like my coffee, too, but without hot water, that stuff won't dissolve. (And coffee is a diuretic.) Water will do fine, thanks.

The out come will be that NO supervisor will do their job any more and P.O.s will do even less. The Public will become angry at seeing P.O.s standing around doing nothing and will no longer support the police. The police will stamp their angry feet and whine, but their ranks will be cut because the public no longer supports them.

Crime will rise and Chicago will become Detroit that much sooner.

Ghetto lottery: cause and effect.

I will bet that no working police officer will be a plaintiff in this suit, and the dogs will get paid something.

How much money do you have in the bank?

Do you know that if you OR the offender strikes a citizen outside of the city that you will be held personally liable for punitive damages?

Why were you initially chasing the U Haul? Did the driver kill someone? Were there people held captive in the truck?

Or was it stolen. Stolen from the U Haul corporation, who doesn't give a shit if they even get the truck back. Who has no intention of ever sending a representative to the offenders PC hearing.

The Sgt may have saved you and your family from a $50,000 judgement, not to mention saving you from your own stupidity.

I wonder what they would think.

You got that right, at least not in living memory and I go back as far as James Conlisk (RIP).

But, I don't know anyone who would call him "Superintendent" either.

McLoudmouth will be gone when he costs Rahm more money than he was brought in to hack from the police budget.

How about an audit of Crime Stats.

How about an AUDIT of CHICAGO POLICE MANPWOER.

Remember his statement, "We got 13,000 Chicago Cops."

I don't give a shit about giving any "unarmed" man a fair shot at killing me.

-------------------

I think you missed the point of the law suit. The evidence does not clearly show the guy the cop shot at 14 times was actually attacking the cop at all when he was shot.

Add in the admittedly unclear evidence that the cop shot him 3 times in the back while he was laying on the ground, and you might get the reason for the law suit.

This one will get settled out of court. It is a dead loser for the city. It does not even have anything to do with whether the case has any merit. It is a losing case, and the city will settle to save on legal fees and the inevitable bad press that the case would provide as it dragged on.

This is a police force that has such a bad rep with the public that there is no jury in the country that would not award damages. Maybe not fair, but the way it is, and the city has to deal with the reality of the situation.

re.... lawsuit in 018!! Good for the officers that are involed. It's about time someone put these low life bosses in thier place. for years bosses felt they could do what they want and the department saw to it that it was ok. The cpd is a great place to work, i did for 30 years. The bosses are a problem though. Not all but a majority,They have their favs they protect against all odds and they fuck with others that do a great job making them look good just because they dont kiss the bosses ass. It seems that the so called leaders finally are gonna be put on the hot seat. i applaud these 018 police officers for standing up for their morals. Hope they all burn for what they did to you.
