Money Appears! Again

  • Malcolm X College will get a new $251 million campus as part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's push to turn the community college into a pipeline for the health care jobs he says will be a major growth area in Chicago.
Well, the pension funds must be safe if Rahm feels good enough to spend so much money. Congratulations Chicago!

Rahm has lead Chicago away from the brink of bankruptcy!

Way to go, Mr. Mayor!

The Racoon is living large on our dime. That total bill for all the Chicago City Colleges renovation will be $479 MILLION Tax payer dollars. The city will buy bonds via connected bond firms, connected lawyers, and greedy drooling contractors and vendors standing in line to cash in. Politicians need to spend these tax dollars to get those large contributions from these connected assholes so they can donate money back to their reelection campaigns. Then these same self serving pols tell us how much they are doing for us. Your property tax bill has a seperate funding source for the Chicago City Colleges. Have fun paying off this debt + interest.

wrt: "...part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's push to turn the community college into a pipeline for the health care jobs he says will be a major growth area in Chicago...."

---------------------

More edicts from the downtown Fortress of Bullshit.

Healthcare jobs?

What happened to all the much needed welding jobs he was boasting about a week or so ago? They must have vanished already huh?

Did Rahm not get Quinn's memo? We are cutting Medicare and at least 19,000 healthcare jobs are going with it and Rahm wants to train more healthcare workers to compete with 19,000 EXPERIENCED out of work healthcare workers!!

What kind of chance do they stand?

I'll tell you what kind of chance they stand. Ask the community college welding class of 2012 when they hit the streets and are competing with the thousands of welders that have been laid off at Boeing in Kansas, ZERO!

Although the Fortress of Bullshit will probably convince a lot of people to take out non-dischargeable
in bankruptcy student loans that will turn them into indentured servants of the government working in their shovel-ready jobs and living off of food stamps for the new forty years of their lives while the political apparatus is picking and choosing their friends on who gets a tax break, a government grant, a free ride scholarship and more.

It's not about education. Like in any third world dictatorship it's who you know that determines how well you are going to live.

The elite political class has millions of dollars for parks with bird baths and jogging paths, millions of dollars for pet projects with no-bid contracts for all their friends as the workers of this state are pushed further down the Maslow pyramid into poverty.

Spring is coming -- the people will be in the streets soon. Five dollar a gallon gas - tax and fee increases on everything -- food prices going up and wages going down -- are you kidding me?!?!

EXACTLY.....So let's look at the books to see where the dough is. You can't tell firefighters and police to pound sand because there's no money and then give hundreds of millions to city colleges. All this really means is that when the city cries bankrupt, all the city colleges go up for sale, just like the airports. The most important part of this is to open the city's books to an audit. I mean let's play fair and in the interests of the children, ooops I mean citizens! Smoke and mirrors...

I've said it before and I'll say it again Rahm has no intention of making our pension funds whole. He's not going to make the required contributions and he has no intention of playing catch up with the fund either. As far as he's concerned we don't deserve our pensions.

I should be retired by the time the students from Malcolm X hit the job market. I will also be in line for all that "old people" medical care I will need by then.

Now more than ever, it is imperative that I leave this City. I would no sooner trust someone trained there than I would some third world country. Thanks for making leaving this City just a little bit easier, Mr. Mayor.

This is not surprising. Rush Hospitalhas had hush-hush deal with Daley since they have had tyr MXC property on their master plan for the past 10 years.

Rush needs the MXC property to expand its educational space. Just watch the construction over runs. It will be like Kennedy King College which cost twice as much as planned and cost another $3 -$5 million to fix once it opened.

Just ait to you see the low price Rush buys/leases the MXC property. Rahm will spin some BS about the importance of the Rush Hospital / City Colleges partnership and the City is getting the better end of the deal

This city absolutely needs to burn in May. Thousands short, limiting of overtime, cancelled furloughs, no protective gear, no real training, etc, etc but a quarter billion for a new campus that does nothing but churn out militant fast food restaurant employees for the most part.

Be sure to write a few more parking tickets tonight all you blind jagoffs. Maybe impound a car for a bag of weed or two. You'll be handsomely rewarded for all your hard work on the next contract. My sources say 6% a year for 4 years. NOT.

Funny how Malcom X and Tamms are mentioned on the same day.

So we close Tamms, and hundreds of hard working "southerners" are suddenly unemployed.

And the 1,000 early released inmates can now enroll in Malcolm X's second chance program.

I have some sad news for anyone who thinks there are millions of health care jobs out there just waiting to be filled. IT'S A LIE.

The sad truth is nursing and other health related careers were in demand up until 2010. Even the severe recession of 2008 didn't depress the job growth in the health care industry. But two years later in 2010 nurses were laid off and their hours were cut.

My wife belongs to several nurses associations. Right now, for every job opening in the nursing field, the employer will receive about 40 applicants. It used to be that employers were begging people to come in to work for them. Not anymore. My cousin in New Jersey graduated as a pharmacist. A year later he still didn't find a job. A year and a half ago he finally found a job in a small town in Georgia.

This is the new economic reality we are living in.

The Racoon wants to piss away $251 Million to build a new Malcom X College for medical training. Is this moron lost his mind? Westwood College would give these "students" the same training in 12 months for a fraction of the cost of building a new school. Of course the greedy hungry connected contractors and vendors couldn't cash in. Just like in my house...WHEN WE HAVE NO MONEY WE STOP SPENDING. WE CUT BACK UNTIL THINGS GET BETTER. But of course we are not corrupt politicians spending someone elses money.

Whats wrong with the current Malcolm the Tenth college. What is it, 30-40 yrs old? The old building of St. Ignatius is probably pre fire and still churns out intelligent people. WTF!

Rev. Jesse Jackson announced today that Chicago Public Schools are guilty of "Apartheid-Like" activity in our city. It certainly can't be a race issue Jesse because there are only about 7% of White kids in Chicago schools today. Must be something else to bitch about. I guess he means where the resources go to in the city. Perhaps his pals are not getting their fair share of CPS contracts. The Rev has been popping up in the news for the last month. Guess his son Jesse Jr. needs help because he is in a very close race for reelection. Fact is Jesse Jr. has been a very bad boy of late. Offering $1.5 million to ex Gov. Blago for the Obama Senate seat. He also got caught up in a scandal involving a white bar manager in DC. He was flying her into Chicago and rented a downtown room for her so they go play together. The US House Ethikks board is investigating. Sure. When it comes to this father and son the apple sure doesn't fall far from the tree.

Thr Racoon just loves basking in the liumelight of pissing away our tax dollars to make himself look good. He doesn't spend money to keep up essential services for the protection of Chicago taxpayers but he finds cash to throw down a Malcom X rathole. I wonder what they will do with Malcom X's last ride out in front of the old building? Maybe some of the honor students can get it running again and use it for college drive by's in the hood.

Jesus God. How many more 18-year-old functional illiterates are you going to put behind PHARMACY COUNTERS to make deadly errors and give people a hard time?

Count your pills.

How many more bubbleheaded, excitable English-as-a-second-language "Patient Care Facilitator" girls are you going to have to argue with to see some half-doctor at a shitty clinic, ever-swamped with sick chain-immigration "anchor babies" lugged in by their perpetually gravid mothers?

...and after 150 years, they tell you that you are the one who has to remind medical personnel to wash their hands.

"Health care" is going to kill us all.

A real piece of work, this Abraham Maslow.

"Maslow studied what he called exemplary people...writing that "the study of crippled, stunted, immature, and unhealthy specimens can yield only a cripple psychology and a cripple philosophy." Maslow studied the healthiest 1% of the college student population."

Anyone else would have been accused of practicing "Nazi eugenics."

Two lower-level employees have been fired from the Cook County Morgue, and a third is "under investigation," while the higher-ups stay. I understand that a lot of the real responsibility may lie with the operation's #2, an "administrator" right below the medical examiner who is responsible for the non-clinical aspects of day-to-day operations, but of course it's easier to step on the worker-ants.
