Wasting Money
- Once meant for public trains and buses, the untouched heaters, rod ends and spools of copper wire have instead collected dust for years at the Chicago Transit Authority's main warehouse.
But a cleanup is under way.
As part of the initiative to cut costs and increase efficiency, the CTA plans to auction off about one-third of its total inventory of unused parts and supplies in late spring, officials said. It will also hire a qualified company to manage inventory, they said.
The qualified company being Vanecko Widget Counters Incorporated.
Poor management of a city leads to this:
- Mayor Rahm Emanuel is mounting a challenge to 2010 U.S. Census estimates that Chicago lost about 200,000 residents.
Big city mayors regularly contest the once-a-decade census results, which determine how much federal funding flows to different parts of the country. Chicago would gain about $1,200 annually for the next decade for each person added to the official population, according to Emanuel’s office.
Emanuel’s predecessor, Mayor Richard Daley, launched an unsuccessful bid to get Chicago’s 2000 population numbers increased. In 1990, Daley and other mayors tried futilely to get Congress to give them additional time to fight the census results.
Money being spent that Chicago doesn't have, to get more money from Washington that Obama doesn't have either.

Tiny Dancer better be careful. A new audit will surely show a slew of murder victims who are certainly no longer residents AND thousands of other city employees, no longer employed because Daley and Emanuel have forced them out to reduce the city budget. Those people may have fled this failing armpit of a city to find peace and happiness elsewhere.
It's entirely possible the city's population may even be another 50,000 fewer by now!
Vanecko Widget Counters? Vanecko sounds familiar.
A look behind the curtain at our arrogant, obnoxious twit of a mayor. Let's hope he never wins another election.
Emanuel to Tribune: Mind Your Own Business on Speed Cameras
The Chicago Tribune has published the complete transcript of reporter David Kidwell’s interview with Emanuel.
It’s already been compared to a David Mamet script. Kidwell accuses Emanuel of covering up and lying about his real motives in pushing speed camera legislation through the General Assembly. Emanuel throws it back in Kidwell’s face, telling the reporter has no right to the information. Nor does Kidwell have any right to question a mayor about how he makes decisions.
Kidwell is persistent. Emanuel is defensive, abrasive, condescending, evasive and openly insulting. (At one point, Emanuel lectures Kidwell, “I have been in an executive position, and I mean this insulting so get it right, you haven’t. You have not been in the White House. You have not been in the mayor's office.”) Emanuel also berates the Tribune for refusing to publish a study that shows red-light cameras have reduced fatalities at intersections by 60 percent, even though it turned out the mayor’s office withheld the study from the public.

"...Daley and other mayors tried futilely to get Congress to give them additional time to fight the census results. "
If the Feds can't accept our crime figures why they should accept any figures on population that Daley or Rahm give in this sanctuary shithole.
How about a census an in an audit of Chicago Police manpower to give us the true numbers?
Maybe that's why they're stacking up so many stiffs in the morgue.
So they can register them to vote out of 2121 W. Harrison.
Plenty of money to pay the lawyers friends and acquaintances, there's no shortage of funds there!
Supreme court challenges one after another, civil rights violations, and now the US census data SUE-SUE-SUE! Court cases that drag out for years before they fail. Who benefits? The clouted lawyer friends.
Tools!
Hey... want to send your friend's lawyer firm some taxpayer money? Just pass another law that violates the constitution and you guarantee a ten year job right?
The city is so desperate they are beginning the asset sales JUST LIKE GREECE.
It begins with things like the CTA's excess inventory then it's privatization of everything so that the corporations and the bankers and skim the easy money that's left from the taxpayers.
Sell advertizing space and naming rights on everything until the CPD and CFD uniforms look like NASCAR drivers with corporate logo's everywhere.
Sell the parks, the public buildings, the forest preserves and any other property that a foreign banker might want. Doesn't matter if you think that you own it -- no, just claim it under eminent domain laws and sell it Chicago AND Illinois is broke.
Gee Whizz! Is that the same Vanecko tied to the Murderer Vanecko hiding out in California? I guess the Racoon went to the Yellow pages to find someone to straighten out this CTA mess. No wonder Chicago is so fucking broke!
I saw the list of stuff that the CTA was selling and it's ridiculous. Bus heaters that were 4 year old design are being sold for like $175,000. The CPD doesn't even have an ammo budget for Cops and the CTA is having a "fire sale".
Damn......if we could only count the illegals!

PLEASE TELL ME YOU'RE NOT SERIOUS!
It's called SARCASM!
When they came to do the census at my house, and a few of my neighbors, we refused to participate or to be counted. It's the little digs you do such as this and shopping out of Cook County that gives you a warm and fuzzy fealing.
And how about Forrest "Wheels" Claypool? Is there nothing this dope can't screw up?
He worries about drives taking a leak, while he brags about millions dollar L-Cars with busted and defective wheels.
Somebody please find this goof a an hourly-salaried job in the private sector.
Maybe the Racoon can hire the Vanecko Widget Counters to "adjust" our crime statistics. It almost sounds like this bogus "company" was created just to get this contract with the CTA. Probably not. Hmmmmm
How come the extreme genius Ron Huberman didn't discover this and use technology to fix it? Wait ...why is Forest Claypond back in Gov't? Wasn't he riding off into the sunset to partner up in a medical services business on the cusp of Obamacare! Now methinks that was a ruse, and that Claypond was forced out by Toddler. It is so 'all legit' in Crook County. BTW Forest did your political advisors ever tell you that your personality comes off dripping of priviledge and arrogance? Much more suited to a North Shore electorate. Wait a minute, isn't Rahm a North Shore guy? Oh...Man....
"Mayor Rahm Emanuel is mounting a challenge to 2010 U.S. Census estimates...
"Emanuel’s predecessor, Mayor Richard Daley, launched an unsuccessful bid to get Chicago’s 2000 population numbers increased..."
Well, both wanted a "Sanctuary City" where half the population darts under something the minute someone shines a light, so there you have it.
My address is 2121 West Harrison...slab 4. Been here a few months just hanging and waiting......but I sure don't want to miss the election. Got to vote and more than once. Got two others on my slab also so we got 3 votes here at least!
Just when we thought the Racoon ran out of money to piss away more of our tax dollars he comes up with another blockbuster. The Racoon is going to spend $479 million of our tax dollars to spruce up the City Colleges of Chicago. ALMOST A HALF $$$BILLION of money we don't have. What the fuck is wrong with these deranged politicians? How will taxopayers pay for this venture. The city will float bonds and we will pay the interest on the loans until they are paid off. Check your tax bill under Chicago City Colleges. The Mayor states that this money will give our students a chance at jobs in a tough market. It will also create about 2,000 new jobs. How much does that work out for each job divided by $479 million? No doubt connected Bond firms, connected lawyers and contractors are happy as hell to feed even more at the public well. Hey Racoon...WHEN WE ARE IN A FINANCIAL HOLE STOP FUCKING SPENDING OUR MONEY!!!
