Obama Fluffs for Rahm
- President Barack Obama said Tuesday the G-8 relocation from Chicago to Camp David did not come because of security concerns and he confident his hometown can handle the NATO gathering.
Obama made his remarks at his press conference in response to a question from the Chicago Sun-Times the day after the surprise announcement about the site switch for the G-8 economic summit.
The G-8 and NATO were to take place back-to-back in May, after Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s former chief of staff, lobbied for the events. Obama noted that the larger NATO summit –which will bring some 50 nations to Chicago—is still on.
“I always have confidence in Chicago being able to handle security issues,” Obama said.
Well, if Obama says it, it must be true.

Well, yes, I did give Rahm 55 million tax dollars to host the G8 and NATO. Bu then, someone ???? mentioned that in three years I had never had any of these folks up to Camp David. So .... I decided to have the G8 campout instead. It has nothing to do with CPD being 4000 men short and the city being an urban war zone. No, I have complete confidence in Rahm and Chicago. I just wanted to make the G8 more of a sleepover kind of thing. Yeah, That's the Ticket!
Let's leave the Prez out of this. What do you expect him to say? He did the right thing and in everyones best interest, including the G8 members in my opinion. I think he deserves a thank you. Thanks for the public vote of confidence and thanks for sparing us one headache.
I love that Obama couldn't be bothered to call Rahm himself to let Rahm know that Chicago had lost the G8. Rahm was very publicly hung out to dry on this one, and says quite a bit about his current standing in the White House.
Oh yeah sure...so why the urgency? He had to make that announcement so quick everyone in the state on this project was left looking like tools.

OT ~ Lovie Fluffs For Obama - Earlier yesterday, I spotted this item of racism on Bears Breaking News on the Tribune site. Apparently, Obama is getting blacks around the country to rally support for his re-election bid. The Trib originally had the comments open, but old Lovie (and the Bears) were catching such hell on there that they closed the comments. The general theme was that Obama was engaging in racial politics by specifically targeting prominent blacks to rally black votes against whatever white candidate was coming to try to take the White House away from them. Sort of like the backlash here when the black rev-runs insisted that you can't have a white commander in Englewood because that spot has had black commanders and that somehow could now only be run by a black man. It's the old double standard that allows Dems and minorities to practice racial politics that whites would be eviscerated for.

SCC, what gives with Drug Hotline? Today, I called 311 and CPD district I just moved to and Drug Hotline directly--a total of 8 calls this afternoon, to try to report possible drug use, drug sales, maybe drug storage in apartment building I just moved into. The district switched me to CAPS who said they'd call back but never did. The 311 Operator switched me to drug hotline numerous times and even stayed on the line to see if anybody pickedup- nobody did this afternoon even though it's supposed to be a 24 hour hotline. No v-mail either, just annoying ringing and ringing. It's scary to report your friendly drug dealer living in the apartment next to you. All these calls later--nobody listening or responding. Just called it again before posting this- rings and rings. What's up? Did hotline number change or has Rahm cut back that department as well?

In response to the comment made that the G8 was moved to give Israel a more private venue to lobby for attacks/strikes on Iran, such discussions are more likely to take place at the NATO conference. NATO, or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is the military conference. G8 will be primarily concerned with economics, trade, and plans for future international development. NATO is still being held here and will be 90% about Islamic terrorism. Rahm sucks.

In response to the comment made that the G8 was moved to give Israel a more private venue to lobby for attacks/strikes on Iran, such discussions are more likely to take place at the NATO conference. NATO, or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is the military conference. G8 will be primarily concerned with economics, trade, and plans for future international development. NATO is still being held here and will be 90% about Islamic terrorism. Rahm sucks.
Bringing the case for air strikes against Iran at the G8 makes more sense. There will be the 8 economic powers and the military powers of world there (those that helped us in Iraq and Afghanistan) and the European Union. Support has to be garnered first before heading to NATO with such an unpopular plan. Changing the venue for the G8 right after meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel concerning a nuclear Iran is not a coincidence.

The report said that officers are inclined to do nothing or to overreact when confronted with typical crowd control scenarios. The reason for either extreme reaction is typically rooted in fear of confrontation. This fear results in either a severe over reaction or a severe under reaction to an emergency situation. The report notes that officers have an exaggerated fear of reprisals resulting in either no reaction or an insufficient reaction to force. On the opposite extreme, there are too many officers who cannot control their fear and, as a result, end up "attacking" the crowd with far more force than is needed. The report cites historical examples, postings on Internet sites, and the union president's public comments as reasons why the individual officers in the department are incapable of successfully handling a hostile crowd.
Whoever did this "study" must have got their information from either the media or the ghetto fools that the media interview after a police shooting! Or this is an anarchist point of view! Food for thought: dont become a hostile crowd and you wont get your ass kicked!

If this is true then SCC played a part in getting G8 tossed out of Chicago and Rahm is a big liar and probably seething with steam just pouring out of his ears. Look for retribution against the police department during contract negotiations as payback.
It is the department's own fault for promoting morons from outside and all the political hacks that populate the upper ranks of the command staff.
Surely whoever reads this blog regularly knows what the rank and file thinks of the bosses.
This is not a very well trained or well disciplined police department, that much is obvious to Stevie Wonder.
It is March 8, 2012 and I still have not received one second of training for G8/NATO or been issued any equipment.
No damn surprise that the prez pulled it out of here.
So why do we need so many chiefs in international relations now? The Nato is 2days according to the media.

How is it the Chicago Tribune endorsed Stoppa and the FOP failed to? According to the FOP PAC team's prior posting, Stoppa didn't have a clue. The Tribune endorsement is the hardest endorsement to achieve, I'm sorry to say but the FOP PAC members have lost credit with this member. I voted Shields in for change, I wish I could retract that vote.

Maybe I missed the post but did anyone else catch Mike Dumke's article in the reader on 22FEB? If correct, the city is actually getting zero, zilch, nada, etc, money to host the summits. The 55million that rahm keeps touting is actually a federal grant that Chicago has been receiving for years. Its called the Urban Areas Security Initiative. Per the article, that money has been going to keep OEMC operating. Now I haven't seen any $55 million reductions at OEMC so who exactly is going to pay for any of this fiasco? This also explains why we are not getting any of the equipment promised.
And has anyone even asked what these private donors, if there are any, are getting in return for donating to rahm's various initiatives, such as the principal's hiring bonuses?
We know this will not be covered in any mainstream media so I guess we have to hope that the Reader picks it up. I hate to admit that what i considered to be one of the most liberal magazines in this city turns out to be the only one that does any real investigations.
