Undetectable Bombs
- The CIA thwarted an ambitious plot by al-Qaida’s affiliate in Yemen to destroy a U.S.-bound airliner using a bomb with a sophisticated new design around the one-year anniversary of the killing of Osama bin Laden, U.S. officials said Monday.
The plot involved an upgrade of the underwear bomb that failed to detonate aboard a jetliner over Detroit on Christmas 2009. This new bomb was also designed to be used in a passenger’s underwear, but this time al-Qaida developed a more refined detonation system, U.S. officials said.
The FBI is examining the latest bomb to see whether it could have passed through airport security and brought down an airplane, officials said. They said the device did not contain metal, meaning it probably could have passed through an airport metal detector. But it was not clear whether new body scanners used in many airports would have detected it.
We're constantly surprised they haven't managed to set off any suicide bomb within the US up to this point, though the second one goes off, we're sure it will be Bush's fault.

That means they don't want to tell you that the body scanner likely would have not detected it.
In the meantime, please remove your belt with the plastic buckle (apparently the body scanner cannot see through those, either) and take off your shoes.

It seems strange that they announce this now without anyone in custody. I hope the celebrations aren't premature and just political.
Probably your best bet would be to suspect anyone on the bus or el with a big ass. I'm not a cop, just trying to help. Maybe if they are smelly would also indicate dangerous chemicals.Good luck.

I think Seth meyers said it best on SNL's Weekend Update. alQaeda is concerned about its morale. Top leaders fear that morale is so low that their suicide bombers are too depressed to become martyrs. Now wouldn't that be something!

Israel invented and defined behavioral profiling the rest of the world except America copied it and now you know why Israel hasnt had a hijacking in 40 years.
I am good making methane bombs in my underwear but I have not figured out how to eliminate the smell.
Gee this must be the start of the national election season. Underwear bombs and such will be going on until November. Laughable how all our "leaders" in Washington keep patting each other on the back (probably asses also) telling us what a wonderful job they doing looking out for our safety. Let one bomb go off on a plane and you wouldn't be able to find any of these over paid assholes anywhere. With TSA almost doing a rectal exam on flyers maybe something will slip by. Hope not.

They've changed our entire lifestyle. They've changed the way one of our major industries operates forever.
We spend millions of dollars every year on the TSA charade that makes us feel better, but is questionably effective, at best.
