Irony

  • The first rule of adventurous traveling: Things are almost never as bad as your mother thinks.

    The second rule of adventurous traveling: The "almost never" exceptions can be pretty bad.

    Further, if you’re writing a book called “The Kindness of America,” as hitchhiker Ray Dolin is, you might be tempting fate. Dolin learned this when a stranger shot him Saturday evening in rural Montana where Dolin was trying to hitch a ride.

Cops later caught the asshole, a drunk with a history of assault and intimidation. But when you set out to write a book about the kindness of strangers in America, the last thing you're expecting to get is shot.

I almost thought you were going to say Chicago. America has changed. We are seeing a huge wave of anxiety in this town because of the crime and carnage. The shit we have been reading about in the paper and seen on tv is now spilling out into the "better" areas of the city. The mutant racist animals are like sharks who have smelled that blood in the water. Chicago is just about finished. We have always looked at our downtown, Near North, Gold Coast, Michigan Ave., and our beautiful lakefornt as our crown jewels for us and visitors to come and see. The Animals have arrived and I fear it is too late to save our city.

Welcome to the club Mr. Dolin. I'm sorry it took a random act of violence to bring you over. Like the saying goes, a conservative is a liberal that got mugged.

speaking of traveling, china is sending their first woman into space. i know one that likes to travel. if we sent her along with the chinese woman, we could save enough to balance the budget. then she could once again be proud of america, take bo with and make it a second honeymoon.

On a related note, a guy named Willie almost shot his manhood off in 003 last night. Insert ironic joke here:

O.T. Just got word that the Dept has ordered all black Police Interceptors from Ford and R&D is looking at all black uniforms for CPD. Seems there is discussion to merge with some of the surrounding Depts who also wear all black and drive black cars to form a new Chicago Metro PD. The combined finances of the city, suburbs, and county would fund the new PD. Rahms new master plan to get someone else to foot the bill for the city. Wonder what happens to our contract and pensions?

Fractured Gangs Blamed For Chicago Homicide Surge

"...In the past the gangs were very organized from the top down," said Sgt. Matthew Little of the Chicago Police Department's gang enforcement unit. As more gang leaders are arrested, convicted and sent to prison, the gangs they left behind have become "very splintered," he said.

Young men on the city's streets agree.

"There is no one to control this, so it has become haywire," said Devon Tims, who identified himself as one of the Chicago Vice Lords, making him one of the city's estimated 70,000 gang members.

Serves the guy right for ripping off the book title and idea. Mike McIntyre wrote a book titled "The Kindness of Strangers: Penniless Across America" published in 1996
McIntyre hitchhiked across America with no money, accepting only the "kindness of strangers"--rides, food, shelter, and the occasional beer.

I've heard that usually before something catastrophic happens in one's life God sends you a warning to change the path you're on before it is too late. It sounds like Mr. Dolin got the biggest wake up call of his life in Montana.

reminds of the white girl who decided to hitchhike through Turkey a few years back. Raped and killed almost instantly. Liberals insane ideas about equality and the brotherhood of man work great in college, not so much in the real world.

"...when you set out to write a book about the kindness of strangers in America, the last thing you're expecting to get is shot." -- SCC

Wake-up call, huh?

I remember news stories about these traveling serial killers -- Rafael Resendez-Ramirez, "The Railroad Killer" was a great one. POS rode freights, any place near the tracks was in danger.

Understand that the FBI has something like 200 long-distance truck drivers in a serial-killer-suspect database it is monitoring...this was openly reported.

...and while looking down, let's not forget to look up too. "Find The Psychopath"...saw an interesting piece detailing how big shots in corporations and so forth actually score higher on things like "lack of regard for others" than so-called "mental patients" do.

I mean, how do you think they got to the top?

Mike Malnati can say "God has a hand in his pizzas;" after all, he owns like 37 restaurants. Try telling someone that "God has a hand in my baloney sandwich" and they'll diagnose you as psychotic.

It's too weird.

You can complain forever about "what" as long as you never say "who."

If we're going to live, it's time to stop using the passive tense.

Try "America has been changed."

* By whom?

* For what purposes?

Greetings from Montana, Its so hard to solve these redneck murders,all the DNA is the same and there is never any dental records. Nutters everywhere including Montana but a least here if you want to carry a gun you can.Concealed carry legal outside of all city limits, in cities you need a permit or you can carry exposed.
