Remember, Crime is Down
- Three people have died and at least 14 have been wounded in shootings since Friday afternoon in Chicago.
The first shooting happened about 4:43 p.m. in the 5100 block of South May Street when two men were killed and three others were wounded.
And that's just Friday into a hot Saturday. The bodies continued to hit the floor all day long:
- Three men were shot and critically wounded in the West Englewood neighborhood today.
Someone shot the three about 11:25 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Ashland Avenue, according to police News Affairs .... - A 20-year-old man was shot dead and his 19-year-old brother was wounded when they were fired on while sitting in their car on the Far South Side today.
It happened at 10:23 a.m. at 111th Street and Edbrooke Avenue, according to police News Affairs .... - Police are seeking a person who stabbed three relatives with a kitchen knife early Saturday in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.
It happened during an argument that turned physical about 3:15 a.m. in the 2800 block of West Polk Street, police News Affairs....

Dear scc: that multiple stabbing was probably an innie so that one doesn't count. Wait, can I say stabbing? I can't remember. I think I can say stabbing but not aggravated battery? Or maybe it was murder, not sure so anyway let's just hope it didn't happen in the back yard 'cause then that would really be confusing!

I just don't get it. We have people on this blog who hate Rahm and Obama, yet support the same Democratic organizations and unions that got Rahm and Obama elected in the first place. It's like the guys who can't stand McCarthy yet continue to bring in movers and parkers and arrests every day. Figure out which side you're on, people!
Get rid of Democrats, and that includes the unions and all the corrupt city workers too!

MAXIMUM sentences for these shooters is the only thing that works. They can't shoot if they are still in jail and they will serve as a lesson to the future 'would be' shooters. It really is that easy.
3 killed 14 wounded = maybe $1.7 million or more spent on emergency and ER sevices. Another day another dollar. Weekend isn't over yet. Anybody madder than hell yet?

I am not a cop or a liberal, but unions for police are about the only public sector unions I can support. If an officer is involved in a shooting (or tazing) it is good to have an organization behind him or her that will help defend the officer because the higher ups or politicians would find it easier just to fire someone to get rid of the bad press. I also don't have a problem with police having decent pensions and an earlier retirement age due to the stress associated with the job. You don't have to dislike unions to hate corrupt union bosses. And promotions should be based on qualifications and not quotas (I don't know if that is a union thing or political thing).
But unions for teachers and bus drivers and other government workers, forget about it. I don't like politicians negotiating contracts with taxpayer dollars. They have no incentive to be frugal. The politicians are looking to buy votes and only have their interests in mind and not the taxpayers. If a private sector business negotiates a union contract that is out of line with market pay the company will go bankrupt. Unfortunately, politicians don't have to worry about that, they can just raise taxes and say "it's for the children".

An indicator of the commander's lack of leadership skills and complete lack of knowledge of modern-day policing. Thats what you get when you put a 3-time merit-promoted political hack-job in charge of a busy district.
Um, if my counting is right, 010 had 13 people shot between 2200 and 0600 last night. That could be a record for one district.Come on other districts, you can do better!
The media has been instructed by the Evil 5th floor to tone down any stories about shootings and other vicious crimes. Don't want to make the boss look bad. Hide doze bodies too!
It's good to see that the new crime strategies are finally working.
I have an idea. Let's put up some lovely wrought iron fences and some pretty flower pots...right after the 16 foot high chain link fence topped with 8 feet of razor wire goes in around each and every one of these neighborhoods. The savages can help out with our neighborhood beautification projects by killing each other off.

The whole first watch crew was hustling; too bad we couldn't call in reinforcements from TRU or somewhere.
There just isn't enough manpower anymore to contain the situation and it is the fault of Rahm, the Aldermen and the electorate who keeps them in power.
Talk is McCarthy is in an inevitable fail mode now. He hit his high point dancing around NATO while the CPD cops and the media made him look good. He should bow out and go back to NYC now while he is at is peak because unless he can start a massive hiring and rebuilding program he will be blamed for the bloody chaos that will occur this summer. No strategy other than that would work and it is too late for this summer.
