Once Again, the Wrong Message
- A 19-year-old Chicago man has pleaded guilty to burglary in connection with an attempted break-in during which he was shot.
Anthony Robinson was shot in the leg by the homeowner as he tried to break in and steal liquor, according to police.
Robinson was sentenced to two years probation and community service.
The homeowner, 81-year-old Homer Wright, was initially charged with unlawful use of a weapon in the case. That charged was later dropped.
They've got him dead bang (pun intended) on the burglary, yet zero prison time. Way to go Cook County. Hopefully, Mr. Wright aims a bit higher next time.

Sounds to me like Anthony Robinson got the most serious type of probation, the "This time we aren't kidding around buster, we really really mean it probation. You do this just 10 more times and you will be sent to prison for the rest of the month!"
Yesiree, that probation is some serious shit that I am certain that Anthony will sit up and pay attention. I bet the judge did some righteous finger waving at Anthony. He should really take this chance at redemption and get his butt into medical school.

Lucky the victim had a weapon and was able to shoot this little deranged asshole. If not for that the victim and his wife would have been dead. I thought the criminal code for residential burglary is perfectly clear for sentencing purposes, mandatory jail time, guess the ASA must have lowered the bar for a lesser charge, what goes ? Maybe the States Attorney's should go back to law school and a refresher course of the criminal code .

The revolving door of Cook County justice. A lot of this can be blamed on the local court prosecutors who are not always prepared for cases that come up in their courts. I have lost important felony cases because the prosecutor did not give all of the documents to the defense attorney under discovery.And, I am astonished that Alvarez is being mentioned for federal prosecutor in this area. My My, wouldnt the political class love that. They would feel extra safe.
I do believe this counts as a conviction. The numbers are all that count.Nobody gives a rats ass about true justice.

Earlier this week I was at 26 and cal in room 204. While I was there I had a conversation with someone in the know. This person told me that the court room was a federally funded "second chance" room and that the judge does not give anyone prison time for anything. Pcs, uuw, burglaries, occasional strong arm robberies, doesn't matter... Probation. Go to trial or plea deal, doesn't matter... Probation. Violate probation and comeback.... Probation again. Apparently the guy who shot del Pearson passed through this court room twice and kept getting out before he shot del.

Anita is angleing for a future judgeship so she don't wanna look too bad, but probation for a repeat offender, that's not good. Whatcha gonna do when he appears again before a judge ? And as an aside, all of these shootings in Chicago but possession of firearms are prohibited ?

All a scumbag needs to do is cry about their momma and their kids that they need to feed, or the job that they don't have that they will lose if they do time, and the judges eat that shit up. "Oh, I know the State wants to see you do some time on this case here, and I see that you've had probation four times before and are on parole and just got off of three years for the same exact crime and are technically non-probationable, but I'm going to give you probation because I really just don't give a fuck and my $180K a year salary will still come every two weeks no matter what. I believe that you'll do the right thing THIS TIME."

Before running away, the man spat on Daley's followers. Interfering with Daley Machine idol worshipping is a big no Chicago.
This is outrageous! Had this fool committed this crime in Florida he would be doing 20 years. IL lawmakers need to step up their game, this is terrible!
