What was it, only yesterday? McCarthy was patting himself on the back for the "drop" in crime. Then the karma train came around the corner:
- Nine people were shot Thursday night and Friday morning, according to police, including two teens and three men in separate attacks in the Englewood and West Englewood neighborhoods.
And evidently, it was a big train:
- Two men were killed and three other people were wounded in a shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood this afternoon.
The shooting took place shortly before 5 p.m. in the 5100 block of South May Street, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said. A police spokesman confirmed the shooting took place about 4:41 p.m.
We suppose you could argue the weekend has barely begun at 4:41 PM. Usually, we give it until 5:00 PM - you know, when regular people leave work. Some people just have to get a jump on it all though. Hopefully, the "violence interrupters" are on the job tonight, right?

But sorry to tell you shootings are old news, no matter what type of stragedy this idiot mcflurry implements it's not going to work. You have police that have worked in Districts that have had almost no crime(violent crime), compared to the west side, Englewood, and some south side districts. And in these districts you have some police that do absolutely nothing. So whether you are in a busy district or not if you take away what we call dogs, we have just cut our manpower by almost 80%, so for those that don't understand 80% dogs, the other 20% are the ones bringing in the activity that would lower crime... so any stragedy that is implemented never going to work with only 20% of the workforce actually working. I am going to say that you could never compare the officer that has worked in the likes of 007,011, 015,004, 010 and other districts that I missed their entire career to one that has worked in an almost non violent district.
We should issue all the Gangstas credit cards so they can rack up miles for every shooting and murder. Then they can fly all over the country trying their criminal skils. Spread out the crime.

The judges should be handing out MAXIMUM sentences with the assistance of the Mayor and the politicians.
Instead we live in a society that celebrates the 'thug' life. The politicians are too busy fleecing the public to risk alienating them and bringing some level of scrutiny to themselves. The Reverends are driving Cadillacs, not serving their flock. Until that changes we will be a National embarrassment.
Why does everybody think there is so much crime? I've been on this job over 25 years. There is much less violence and crime than when I started.
400, 500, 600 murders are not unusual in this city. Start complaining when the murders get over 800.

To the original poster: That homicide rate was confined to the idiots that willingly joined the crack/powder cocaine racket. Today crime has spread out to all corners of Chicago. You can't argue that. Chicago is less safe and crime is up for us.

First off, learn how to spell, it's STRATEGY, unless you're creating a new word combining strategy and tragedy, then I'll give you a pass for creativity. Second of all, how many shootings have you prevented? We will never know because the presence of an officer often acts as a deterrent to violent crime. Who knows how many shooting have been prevented in this manner.
Third, you might get upset about this but, working in a ghetto district does not make a great officer, nor does working in a slower district. My definition of a slower district is one that has a variety of crimes, not only homicides an shootings. I challenge anyone to prove different. Working in a "slower" district still means you're busy but not always on agg. batt calls. You have CSA, armed robberies, homicides by non gang members, and other violent crimes in addition to less violent crimes. Officers can stay sharp on all crime procedures, whereas in the ghetto you get mainly three types of crimes most often, thefts, agg batts and homicides. The only thing a ghetto officer like yourself can stake a claim to is to conducting a flawless investigation of those three crimes since that's all you get day in and day out. Heck you should be able to handle these crimes standing on your head by now. That makes it EASY. Not difficult. There's not a lot of thinking required. Identify offender, weapons, evidence, call for bambulance if necessary, gather witnesses, secure crime scene, makes notifications, rinse and repeat.
Drop the divisive thinking. Last time I checked, being at a location prior to a known shooting about to take place is not a common thing. As for the alleged "dogs" you speak of, it's a very small percentage. I know because I have worked in both a "slow" district and a ghetto district. At no time could I lay down on the job. Grow up. Get some experience. Learn to respect your brothers in blue.
