5 & 35? 6 & 20? (UPDATE) 8 DOA & 40 Maimed
So many numbers floating around, so hard to nail down totals. Suffice it to say, this weekend was a disaster for Rahm, McCompStat and their contention that their crime strategies are working. Some of the highlights (lowlights?):
- Numerous downtown "multiple offender incidents," a.k.a. wildings. Any number of tourists got their asses handed to them, including a guy who's going to be eating through a straw for the next six weeks. We wonder if he'll ever come back to Chicago or any of his friends, family, acquaintances, etc. Tax payers already know to avoid downtown like the plague - tourists are going to learn one way of the other;
- An unverified story of the Critical Mass/Naked Bike Ride people getting jumped and lumped by the gangs roaming downtown. The mental picture is pretty scary.
- As the revelers were pushed onto the Red Line and out of downtown, numerous fights broke out at every single stop on the El. Reddit.com has some citizen reactions to the trail of mayhem as it headed back south. A couple of commentators related that not a single Mass Transit Unit was available for the fights and when the trains eventually got to 95th Street, the problem spilled out into the surrounding streets and neighborhood.
- Thirteen people shot in an eleven hour span in the 010 District.
Sounds like someone needs to be demoted in 010. After all, CompStat doesn't tolerate mis-deployment of resources. And McCarthy has said we have all the police we need to control Chicago street gangs. So obviously, someone is fucking up big time in 010 and the only one we can think of is the triple "meri-clout-orious" promoted political hack in charge.

they need to seriously cut the section 8 and "affordable housing" for these idiots. these people have nothing to do all day and should be working some place to pay the rent and bills instead of the taxpayer payin.

Another weekend of shootings in Chicago had claimed six lives and wounded dozens more as of Sunday evening, police said. The shootings occurred from late Friday afternoon through Sunday across the city. About 40 people suffered non-fatal gunshot wounds in just 22 incidents during the weekend, according to a Tribune tally.
Two people were killed in shootings from Saturday night into Sunday morning. Police officials on Sunday were still compiling a list of confirmed shootings and victims during the hectic overnight period that saw officers in some districts racing from one shooting to another.

From what I read on the blog, there was something of a news blackout about the mayhem on the trains and in the tourist areas by Shitcago media. Let it be known that Moline's WQAD mentioned it on Sunday night's news broadcast. No ethnic specifics though. Potential area tourists have been warned.
Maybe someone needs to post some info about these incidents on a few travel sites and warn people who might be coming to Chicago.

Well, think harder, then, SCC. The person who is responsible is the one who PROMOTED the triple crown winner. And that would be McOutsmartedHimself.

Commander (and I use that word with NO respect) MP of 010 monitors this blog, usually by someone else, and can not stand when she is bad mouthed. I had to laugh when I saw the Ch 7 report with Evelyn Holmes, where she refused to say the ages and race of the offenders of the State St wildings. Ch 9 only gave the ages, but also held back the race. They did say that the victim of one of the attacks suffered a broken jaw.
Maybe you should be thanking the meritorious hack in 010 for proving compstat, McCarthy, and Rahm's plan doesnt work when you follow it to a the T. Obviously other commanders are pretending to follow orders and are really trying to get the best out of what they have left. Rahm is not to happy with the news out of there. And by the way can someone please tell the dispatchers there that when there are no cars available to just relax! Tell them to call car 1 for some jobs! Everybody gotta sacrifice, right!

It's kind of hard to deter crime as tact officers and CTA because they MUST make arrests. So instead of CTA officers staying on busses, trains or in the stations waiting for the wild ones, they are locking up old asses that are selling a cigarette on the platform and then in the district for hours on end. And because they keep on locking up the same over and over they are not eligible for an ANOV or their bosses want an actual CB#. But they have to make an arrest! Just like tact-get the 1 bagger, or a pisser or drinker-forget about a part 1-does anyone even know what a part 1 is anymore? So while they are in on crap, bigger crap happens. We don't deter or use our discretion anymore-so things will continue to happen. It's not the copper's fault, they are doing what is expected of them by their bosses-heads, heads and more heads, no matter what the cost. Just listen to some of the gold stars on the air asking for cars to lock up the drinkers who aren't bothering anyone. If you are in a slow district then go for it-but not in a district where 6 people are being shot in one tour. THINK-you are supposed to be the smart ones! But it's got to be all about the numbers. mass transit should be disbanded and oficers assigned to district patrol to cover train stations during rush hour , make cta checks after rush hour and do some police work the other 4 hours . That unit has been a cush assignment for decades . Look at all the police officers hiding in office at mass transit superintendent mccarthy

The incessant joke of referring to raceless punks as Nordics, Amish or Eskimos became tiresome a looong time and countless instances ago.
Last number of years I've riden my bicycle all over the city. Thru the Gold Coast, thru West Town, thru Austin, thru Portage Park, thru Logan Square, thru the Lakefront, thru West Rogers Park, thru North Park, all over pretty much North of Chicago. After last year, I've avoided the rougher neighborhoods because it's getting rough and being a white guy seeing that winner, winner, chicken dinner in Dudes eyes.
This year, I've stayed away from the high traffic areas like the Lakefront in those neighbirhoods. This sunday, I thought I'd take a few clubs and hit some golf balls at the Diversey Driving Range. Afterwards, I took a ride around Montrose Harbor and Beach. It's generally heavy Latino in that area on nice days and it was Sunday. Every parking space was full and a lot of cars were parked on the grass off the roadway and a hell of a lot of them got $75 tickets.
For the most part as is typical for that area on a nice weekend there were a lot of families and a lot of grilling going on with lots of little kids darting around. The only cop I saw was the one ticketing the cars.
As I made my way south thru North Ave. Beach it turned adolecent & twenty-something ghetto trash blocking the paths, yelling and gazing with that in search of targets of opportunity look. I'm not sayin' this in a racist sense. I'm calling it the way I saw it. The CPD presence at Oak St. was bigger but way inadequate given the massive amount of troublemaker element around. I saw about six cops. I know there were probably undecover but the uniformed presence was nothing like I remember decades before when you saw CPD on those three wheelers all over and walking around.
In my building, we got a white person who owns a few units in the building who doesn't live there but rents the units to whores and section 8's. All the units this owner has are in foreclosure in the 18th, yet the owner never loses them because the owner works a system that protects the shitbird owner and tenents. What a screwing to us the taxpayer and resident paying our bill. We pay the taxes, pay for the Sec. 8s & the court and the law protects those working the system.
Years of this turd of a owner in default on several loans collecting money from the government an pocketing it an the law and media do jack shit about it. The Sec. 8s & whotes have been nothing but trouble.
This city is dying a quick death.
Not to defend M.P. but those shootings would have occurred in 010 no matter who is the District Commander. If you don't have the manpower, if you are stretched too thin because the mayor is cheating the citizens of police service this will happen.
The fault is clearly with McCarthy and the CompStat load of crap that he sold to Rahm and Rahm's willingness to trade blood for money.
Even Chuck Gaudie said, "During NATO when we had 15% more police officers on the street murders were down 26% and shootings were down 20%." There's an admission that the lack of police manpower has a cost in homicides. But since you can't keep canceling days off we damn well better hire a lot of competent new police officers now. But it is too late to save us from a bloody summer.

The "victims" lie to the police where, how, when and who shot them...
The "victims" sometimes don't go to the hospital until the next day with their ooowie....

010 has had merit commanders right along, but the difference this time is that the officers were not threatened the way they have been by the new 3x merit hack. You cant fuck with "the Family" & then expect anything positive in return.The bosses cant give the working cop anything more than a day off which they earned and now thats too much. We as police cannot prevent the shootings even if we were standing on the same block as the shooter. This has been going on for decades and no one before could prevent the shootings so why expect any different now. Without a unit like SOS, MSF or whatever to keep the beast in check they will continue to take advantage of the lowly beat officer who already has too much on his plate without the addition of missions & boxes. commander scott ruiz who was moved from 010 dist to 004 was a great boss. he was no ball of fire, but he treated all his officers with respect. his stats were very good and everyone liked him. i knew he wouldnt last too long in 010, because he was too nice to everyone. in 30 yrs. on the job, he was the best commander i ever worked for....now i feel like i went from the top of the mountain to the bottom with our new commander...oh well...as george harrison said....."all things must pass"...

My sister predicted a race war in the not too distant future--and I've got to say, that at least in Chicago, that idea is not that far-fetched.

The commander of 010 seemed to be a nice person when she was in 025, but was in WAY over her capabilities. For that matter, so was her boss, Velez. Neither had any noticeable management skills. This is what clout promotions, or promoting by demographic has done to this department. And I believe the tipping point has been reached; there are too few qualified individuals to command. Most of the gold-braid gals, and a fair number of the guys too, don't know how to turn on the light bar in the squad.
