Look What I Found!
This is great:
- got a bud that works in 011 said the Supe and his driver came in last nite to do the Ch 7 interview. when they did the Supes driver tells the desk people they need paper and inv done on a pistol the Supe found in a liquor store in 011 otw to station. driver produces empty pistol from his waistband - no mag or rounds. driver goes on to say that they went thru 3 mutts leaving the store and then released them when they found nothing on them, then they go into store and find pistol.
desk person asks if they contact carded the 3 mutts. "NO". asks if they wrote down license info and names, etc of owners/workers present. "NO". asks why they didnt preserve gun to be printed, driver says something like "WE HAD TO GET HERE FOR THIS" (Ch 7 interview). diff desk guy says something like "so this is an integrity check direct from the Supe's office"? McPilgrim does the interview and mentions how he "recovered" the gun himself.
DOES ANYONE BELIEVE THIS SHIT???
if legit, he and his driver fucked up basic police work and procedure espec with all the gun violence and all they preach and scream about at Compost mtgs. kind of like walking on shell casings at a crime scene! if a try to see if the officers that got stuck handling paper did it square, then what a crock of shit. and if an orchestrated ploy to play to the media and sheep, then someone needs to be outed as a complete jagoff and phony. can anyone confirm this story?
We believe it 100%. It's very typical of a politician playing police officer.

Mccarthy really does not know what he's doing. He has no experience or any idea how complex chicago really is.
He needs to go.
They should have said three things: chain of custody.
Give the driver the required paperwork and walk him around the corner to the interview room.
But if the sup had an interview, why did he stop at a liquor store? Doesn't add up and at same time makes perfect sense.
If true, this is comical. If that was any blueshirt and they did not have an e.t. recover the firearm, they would probably be looking at a minimum of a reprimand, maybe even a day. Not even an inkling of chain of custody here. Or the poster is right on with the hoping the poor schmuck that gets saddled with doing the report and inventory makes a mistake or cuts corners and catches a rule 14. Oh yeah, did the super supe have his vest on since he conducted a street stop and field interview? Not that I care either way, but his whole new york, this is the way we did it in jersey, atitude is bullshit! We ain't in new york and we ain't in jersey. This is CHICAGO motherfucker. This department was for the most part great, and it will be great again as soon as you get your walking papers chump!
They call this police work......
If I did something like this; I would get a bad work performance!
I guess this is how they lead by example. You thouch it, you inventory it.
I guess department policies mean nothing to the guy who makes them.
Do as I say, not as I do!
It's about 5 CR's and two thirty pending beefs from what you said.
I know a PO in callback about to be fired for a lot less.
So to summarize the photo-op was more important than the evidence.
If you are going to a photo-op drop everything, forget procedures so you can yap, yap, yap in front of the media.
FANTASTIC!
We've learned something today bookmark it.
Touching a gun ruins prints/evidence??
Whodathunkit??
It was only taught to my fire academy class 33 years ago by a cop.
Maybe what you need is a cop for a supe?
Wonder if that gas station has video and if anybody in 011 can find out who the attendant was last night who can verify the stop.
And if they stopped em, did McCarthy have his vest on?
Can't see him doing a stop in 011 in business attire.
At least they got a gun. Who cares
My question is if his driver claims to be an "officer," then why couldn't do the inventory and paper? Oh, I forgot, he's too good for that. He's above it. His star means something else. Hope desk crew put driver and McCarthy's name all over the paper work. This guy needs to go back to Jersey.
The Supe went to a liquor store before the interview?
LOL
Next he will recover a stolen auto--WITHOUT occupants.
As if that is an accomplishment--NOT!
If he's going to play police: FELONY ARRESTS, McPilgrim!
Can anyone confirm this is a bonafide report?
Wheres the mainstream media on this event?
Wheres the CR# on McCarthy?
Why isnt the Police/Fire Cmte convening a hearing in the City Council?
Wheres the Police Board on this?
Has Tiny Dancer issued a stmt on McPilgrims dereliction to duty and deliberate indifference?
True story 100 percent bonafide...can I get an event number?
Where did the gun come from?
Did the shitheads ditch it in the store and they magically 'found' it (with no corroborating information, naturally), or did they peel it off some poor shopkeeper who kept it behind the counter?
I don't get this.
My bullshit detector is pegging hard here- not that the story itself is untrue, but that the story they're giving just seems very henky.
“NEVER WASTE A CRISIS”
Our streets are running red with blood, decent law abiding people can’t walk the streets at night in safety, the city is bankrupt and that midget tyrant mayor gives away a million dollars of our tax money to a bunch of drug dealing thugs for a kickback!
Just think how many badly needed police and firemen could be hired with that money?
Everyone in the city should call their useless Aldermen and demand answers. Their phones should never stop ringing.
Now is the time for outrage!
F Y I
Rahm Emanuel will be interviewed about Chicago's violence and murders by Scott Pelly on the nationally televised CBS Evening News tonight at 5:30 PM (1730 hrs) on Channel 2.
Should be interesting. Expect lies and a blustery attitude from Tiny Dancer. Remember his motto, "Never let a crisis go to waste?" Can't wait to see his spin on this!
The "driver" should have been told to do the paper and inventory the gun himself; he is the police right?
Consider it confirmed and almost verbatim as I was working desk that day. A News Affairs PO came rushing into station at approx 1825 hrs and said how his Sgt told him to beat feet to 011 to be present for this interview which was supposed to be at 1845 hours. No one in 011 was notified of this nonsense. The guy from News Affairs was our only way of knowing what was coming. Sure as shit the Channel 7 News van rolls up minutes later, followed by McCarthy and future merit sergeant driver sidekick a couple minutes later. FMSDS comes in first with his story of how it all went down and that they needed report generated and gun inventoried. Mccarthy then pops in to take a piss preinterview and shoots the shit with desk crew until the cameras and reporter are ready for him to talk about the latest and greatest policing strategy to come along this week. He does - as predicted - make mention of how "we just recovered a gun on the way to do this interview" or something to that effect [ I couldn't stomach watching the news after witnessing this bullshit firsthand]. About the only......ONLY redeeming quality of McCarthy on this visit was that he was actually quite personable and traded rips with a coworker. J-Fled NEVER even acknowledged the desk people on more than one occasion as he walked by them. Didnt even pick his head up or make eye contact with them.
I smelled bullshit that night and the other guys did too. We lucked out when a sergeant working that special violence thing volunteered to have his guys handle it. Otherwise I call this a setup/staged media stunt. Pathetic.
Why is the Stupe at a liquor store on his way to work? Was he decreasing the increase in malt liquor sales to 1/M's?
Lol quit saying we (blue shirts) would have had an ET recover it. there's no way we let an et recover that gun with no head, no crime and no info. plus you call an et for that and see what happens...the old guy is going to have a shit fit!
When does the supt get whistled in for a random breathalyzer?
I don't believe him. So has he done this before? Any NY brethren recall similar "dramatic" weapon-related "find" by McFound-A-Gun just before he was about to go before cameras, revs, church crowd, etc.?
Ok, so I did the paper and the Super did recover a found weapon after conducting a field interview. The story is verified by the store and security guard. Who cares why he stopped, my guess would be the number of thugs standing outside. The bottom line is that he's trying to do a good job but no matter what he does someone has something negative to say. He's done more than most bosses. You don't have to like him, he was hired to take the heat off of the mayor. That's what all superintendents are hired for. As for was he wearing his vest it appeared to be under his long sleave uniform shirt. He also appeared to be wearing 80/20's. Look I don't work for him or know him but give the guy a break he appears to just want to be a cop. And who hasn't done a contact card on every person they stopped during a tour
McTootYourOwnHorn is fukng tool!!
If true, where is the paper? Reports? And if the paper is fudged anywhere, then hold EVERYONE responsible, from McStupe on down--um, were he and his driver interviewed? What does the case report say?

Excellent point.
This can't be true. The news cameras aren't allowed into 011 without Lt. Andrews in front of them....Oh wait, he's not around cause he took the entire summer off while denying all the blue shirts time due.
This guy is a good cooper. Bet he finds da jab next.
I need to hit the McBullshitter to decrease the increase in my colin and wipe my Rahm.
Its all legit kid!
-Southside Blueshirt
A rookie would not have made those mistakes!
What was the probable cause for the stop? W.O.O.L.S.W.B.B?
(Walking out of liquor store while being black)
In something like 2 years 5 people have contracted cancer (includeing former watch commander Hart) in 011 and 3 of them died. Coincidence? Something in the walls?
I wonder if that gun was from the gun turn in........Hmmmmmm
1225am......stop your crying. When was the last time an et came out to recover a gun found at a store and was not connected with a murder. It's not going to happen. They won't come out to get spent casings when you can't find a victim. I am not a big fan but fair is fair. If your commander found a gun or some dope, do you think he is going to sit down and etrack it. NOT. Grow a set and do your job!
THAT would make an excellent jib-jab. BTW, where have the jib-jabs gone? My fave is still the Olivia Newton John one with Weis and his boyfriend in leotards. Priceless!

There is also a link on SCC's home page on the right.
No worries, men. It's all legit.
If the found weapon IN the liquor store, they should have done a case report (found property) , notified an in duty field Lt ( if by some miracle there is one) or an on duty Sgt. Instead to conduct a license investigation. All this should have been documented in the case and approved by W/c. Not to mention the contact cards, and possible video from the store. Etc. If True the Supt. and officers violated G.O. Regarding incidents inside licensed liq. Estb.
O.T. things that make you go hhhhmmmm why are there 6 p/os working the front office in 016 what could they all be doing.
Supe stopped at the liquor store because he wanted to get 40ed up.
did the desk sgt initiate a cr#?

What about the millions of city dollars given to the University of Chicago by Rahm? No one is outraged about that. The U. of C. is one of the most expensive schools in the nation and they get help from the city? How much did they cotribute to the dems? They are the past employers of the first lady and other connected people. Must be nice????
Gun was unloaded??
Complete and utter horse-shit on the police ceo's part and his driver needs a divot kicked in his ass for even walking into 011 and fixing his dentures to say the shit he said!
"Yeah, me and the supe need you guys to do paper and an inventory on this."
*Pulls gun from waistband and promptly gets the green shit slapped out of himself for being stupid*
Well... At least in the dearly departed Chicago Police Department that we once knew.
SOP has ALWAYS BEEN you touch it, it's yours. Chain of custody is an imperial, crown-wearing bitch and yes she "Run It" up in this raggedy muthafuckah...
McSlapnuts ain't too sharp ain't he?
Glory hound that he is, any takers on a bet that HIS PRINTS are on the weapon too?
*Crickets*
Isn't DOJ tearing the ass off NYPD and Newark PD for this silly assed shit of stopping and going through mutts leaving a store?
Shit... We'd LOVE to hear the reasonable suspicion on this one.
Or perhaps THAT'S WHY no contact cards?
Please!
This department has lynched Coppers for far less.
And the bottom is where?
The best part about this is that we got a speech in roll call about how the supernintendo is riding around so be on the lookout. But the best part of it was this quote, speaking to the sarge " Sup told me to let everyone know that he's gonna get a gun today, just fyi." And what do you know, he does. He's awesome.
That is called being a cop. He is leading by example. We should learn from him.
Heard a rumor that the Stupe and the New yorkers have sold their East Coast homes and are now moving to Chicago for good. They are here to stay even if we top 1,000 homicides. Get the shovel and we have COMPOST!
This city and dept are done. Fuck this place. Criminals get no prison time, press unwilling to recognize the true problems this city has, p.o.s getting fired by new police board for the smallest infraction, no promotional opportunitiest, no opportunity to bid out of ghetto districts, citizens who hate us, incompotent leadership who hate us, lawsuits for the most inane complaints, swiping in and out coming do the districts, no time due, shorthanded to dangerous level putting our lives at risk! Its just to much. Ive got 6 years on this job and have worked all 6 of them even during ppo status. But this job sucks now im done doing any police work for this ungrateful shithole city. So ive coined a new term for myself and those like me........HAIRGELDOGS. And I know there are many more like me out there when I see the looks on their faces in the district and esp at 26 and cal. AND im not sorry for my rant like others say bc its truth and we need to quit apologizing for ourselves when we stick up for ourselves.
You don't need to call an ET to recover a gun.
The driver didn't come from New York. His dumb ass was grown right here in Chicago.
It's nice to be liked ,if it were so you would do back flips to help, but sometimes being liked and being the boss is not always synonymous! Just a po not a boss!
why they didnt preserve gun to be printed,
You find a weapon and want it printed. Why??
R/O was ordered by sup McCarthy to inventory the above weapon. The weapon was handed to r/o by mcarthys driver (name) who related that they found the weapon in a liquor store in the 011 dist. R/O has no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the recovering of said weapon
If looking good was the sup's ultimate motivation behind this, he failed. Would have looked better if he MISSED the photo opp due to him doing actual police work. Such as preserving evidence and completing the neccessary paper work.
Headline would have read....
*Breaking News* - "Police Chief Misses Interview, Gets Gun Off Streets"
Perfect example of not enough police.
Never mind that "a driver" only appears to be the police and a superintendent is usually a political hack.
Everyone should know that if for some reason you can't handle a particular assignment or on-view, you call for another car or the tact team. Then theres a Priority on-view which supersedes the Misc task or duty bs "hold me down in the station". That's day 4 in the Academy.
And what's the General Order say about Weapons and Evidence? That's day 7 in the Academy.
I truly believe Driver will be heading to the Academy soon, for Merit promotion NOT basic training.
Departmental sponsored ineptitude.
Yeah. I'm an excellent driver. Always on Sunday.Yeah.
there is an article in the july issue of Time magazine titled "keeping the dream alive". I think this where your boss got his material for his "pilgrim" reference.
Time check please?
Jack, you never got thirsty during the day.....???? Put your detective hat on; what is sold in liquor stores?
Here's the deal with the Supe, social media, and contact cards: McCarthy is huge proponent of the legitimacy work by sociologist Andrew Papachristos a Yale, and his additional research on socialization of crime and victims, i.e. that all future violence can be predicted if you understand the social connections between victims and future offenders. This is why there is such a HUGE emphasis on contact cards. They are attempting to very quickly create a huge database that shows all connections between people(gangsters) and locations. So if Pookie gets dead, they can see everyone who hangs with the former Pokie and where they hand with. They can then reach out in some manner to those people to prevent them from retaliating. You will see a very concerted effort that involves the DOC and teams in this process as a new post-shooting plan. It's coming soon - there will be detailed plans on post-shooting responsibilities for responding supervisors, and the plan's success hinges on this database of 'social connections' created through contact cards.
Grow a brain. It's "DO AS I SAY" NOT, "AS I DO". Clear? Great. Get your ass out on the street and get a contact card!
Tell me - Why does this not surprise me at all?
Should have called a car if he was in a hurry and had them preserve it and call an et to process it and have the et bring it into 011 and after the important interview have the driver do the paper.GFYS
If you read the article in Chicago Magazine this month about his time here, you'll see his nickname used to be "gun magnet". He can't help himself.

You my fine feathered friend, ARE A DUMBASS!
Probably his gun and he lost the magazine in the bathroom at Tavern on Rush!
I've been gone for awhile but this was recovered in a licensed establishment. Who checked and recorded all of the licenses? Supervisor no longer needed and Lt. signing off on the licenses being current and valid? If not the job sure has gotten easier!

Aahaa. The evidence of a sloppily played hoax to garner headlines and build an image is exposing itself with each comment like this. Glad that desk crew was smart enough to see thru the bullshit and pawn it off on some "specialized unit" hairgels that probably dont know the number to the gun Desk/LEADS without looking it up in an FOP book. Let the glory hounds be forever associated with this latest piss poor legacy of a Supe. Glad to see that some officers are smart enough to not automatically start fawning over and believing every word some asshole in a white shirt with stars on the shoulders tells them.
heis a joke and a stroke..newark must be happy to have gotten rid of him.
rahm you know shit about police..stick to stealing and play to play games..
garry you making jfed look good and pretty bad..rahm you should of did a better a back ground check..
according to comstat bow movements are down in chicago or atlease decreasing of the increasing..

Ah ha! Thank you so much, great post!
I watched -- was it Deutsche Welle, German Broadcasting, I think the "European Journal" show? They had a segment on this sort of thing being done in the Netherlands. The housing projects (oh yes!) they have built are full of young, jobless men direct from Africa -- tremendous crime rate.
One of these "troubled teens" can tie down about seven earnest "social workers", shrinks, etc. for half a day.
Every week, "intervening," interviewing him. "Have you cut down on the ganja smoking?"
"Oh, yes, yes."
"You were smoking five spliffs every day the last time we talked. How about today?"
"Oh, maybe four spliff every day."
*
No change, still stealing car radios, etc. Then the whole learned panel sits down and they go around and around for hours, the file folder on him getting thicker and thicker.
Then they drive home, maybe without a radio in their car...
It's enough to make you cry.
"No worries, men. It's all legit."

Sheer coincidence.
All you people talking about et s recovering a gun are full of sh#@. You know nothing about being the police in Chicago. The main thing is one more gun of the street to hurt us. Good job boss!
O.T. things that make you go hhhhmmmm why are there 6 p/os working the front office in 016 what could they all be doing.
7/09/2012 09:03:00 AM
Our district (which I won't call out) is the same. Secretary, asst secretary, citations, stats, court, and pregnant.
So let me get this straight..... All I got to do is "find a gun somewhere" otw to Compstat and I am excused? No problem! I m down with it. A Lt in training
why they didnt preserve gun to be printed,
You find a weapon and want it printed. Why??
7/09/2012 10:52:00 AM
=
Okay, Garry, we'll explain it to you. We fingerprint a weapon to determine who has touched it. And we do ballistics on it to determine if it's been used in a crime, or crimes. And then, just maybe, we get to solve a crime or two, and put a bad guy away and give some victim's family closure, to boot.
Almost as clever as the tic-tac team who responded last weak to a suicide by gunblast in a River Norf condo-- these 018 District stalwarts graciously volunteered to recover four other guns found onscene so the E.T. didn't have to -- pad those stats, baby.
If that were one of us lowly blue shirts we would be sitting at call back pending investigation.
I've been gone for awhile but this was recovered in a licensed establishment. Who checked and recorded all of the licenses? Supervisor no longer needed and Lt. signing off on the licenses being current and valid? If not the job sure has gotten easier!
Haha, yeah I'm sure he waited until a LT from days showed up. Where I work we haven't had one in months. TRRs have also gone down too because who wants to have to wait until the days LT shows up and is crabby because he/she has to deal with headaches right off the bat. I'm not saying they don't get done but coppers with families are a bit more hesitant to go hands on now more than ever because they want to get home to take care of their families instead of waiting until 8 am to get a TRR approved
Check the liquor store for video. Which of the three mopes placed the gun there? (if any) Did they really recover the weapon there? What if that gun was used in a shooting or homicide? Who will answer questions? Do your own paper work, not someone else's.
Isn't it a violation of some order somewhere to detain three people and NOT do contact cards on said three people? Check their names for warrants? What was the reasonable suspicion for stopping said three honor students? People on this job have taken time for not doing contact cards. I hope the honor students recognized who stopped them and file suit. That would be interesting.
Can someone please tell the reading audience the last time fingerprints were lifted off a gun? It doesn't happen! That is CSI shit. The Illinois State Crime lab sends its lab people to court on high profile cases to tell juries that fingerprints are hardly ever taken from firearms, so why would you think the lab would process a weapon found with garbage. It won't happen. Also, try to get an ET to come and recover a weapon that is "found property.". Lile that's going to happen. RIGHT!!!
Umm, just watched the news on NBC5 and they covered Rahm's new crime strategy of targeting "trouble" businesses where gang crime often occurs. It was a short blip, but they did mention how two guns were recovered from these very businesses in the last few days. The Supe's "recovered" handgun makes a stronger case for this latest strategy. Sure would like to see convenience store video of this "recovered" handgun.
The Lt on 2nd watch in 011 doesn't even bother coming into work.

As an ET, I can tell you that prints do come off of guns, just not in Cook County. They can come off of shells in mags or still in the revolver too, but again, not in Cook county. In other areas where people get the service they pay for, the job gets done. Unfortunately, in Chicago they would have to open up a couple dozen more crime labs to keep up with the bullshit of the savages.

* District always gets the credit for the gun recovery, it's just processed by ET, inventory can be made out by anyone in another's po's behalf. Same applies to K9 apprehensions.
They're support Units.
Tic-Tac teams sometimes like the easy stuff inept crossword wizards and dvd hounds fear. It's their numbers that make DC's a Compfstäffe Celebrity.
The bs here is 4 guns recovered by someone who was probably a law abiding foid carrying taxpayer. Those 4 guns will be on display at GMac's annual open house- "look at all the guns we taken off the streets so kids can play outside after 11pm at the candy tent event".
Yes it's a padded statistic. The stuff merit dreamers are made off.
Good job Supe on getting a gun off the street, the working police appreciate you!
Clone McCarthy 22 times and put one in each district. Crime problem solved!
I wna see the store video's of McCarthy at the liquor store - both approaching the store and inside the store.
Wow!! It took until the 86th comment for someone that actually knows that prints are almost NEVER recovered from a gun. We used to have Sgts that wanted et's to recover guns during a foot chase. I always told them that my EYES are all that was needed. I saw shithead throw gun; I recovered same. VERY easy testimoy in front of jury.

Rumor has it that the liquor store building itself started talking yelling "You put that pistol on me yo"
RD#?

did you post this before, or after, you blew him?
No prints are going to be recovered from a gun unless involved in a serious offense... at that a detective has to order it, and good fucking luck with that!
which dumb ass said he should have called for an E.T.? a gun with no head? who cares.
False police report? Hmmmm I thought these stop and frisks were bad for community relations? Finding a gun on the way to a interview? trying to reclaim a little of that fleeting NATO glory...Something is not making sense...any video from the store?
Was this his regular driver or Joey tears from intel? I'm sure that suckass bought the gun himself for the big guy
