Only days after Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel asked for federal agents and U.S. Marshals to help combat the city's wave of violence, about 50 Chicago police officers have arrived in Charlotte to work perimeter security details for a week at the Democratic National Convention.
The Chicago officers, in their distinctive uniforms and checkerboard-brimmed hats, said they had been instructed not to talk with reporters about their out-of-town assignment.
Then they have the audacity to label this an "ABC News Exclusive" by Brian Ross and Rhonda Schwartz.
Except that we covered it nearly 48 hours ago in the post labeled "Road Trip." And while we don't crave notoriety, media whores not doing their job but taking credit for ours is getting just a teensy bit annoying.

They'll never credit you with the story because you're not a "real" news outlet in their eyes.

Lap Dog Media aka #LapDogMedia hashtag on Twitter really annoys the plagiarizing, partisan, self-rightous media whores.
In September 2011, as a college student, I attended a broadcast media seminar course at Columbia titled: "Determining Breaking News." Hosted by a gaggle of Chicago broadcast media news directors and some Peoria based outsider.
The Chicago types explained how Rahm spoon feeds the Chicago media with press releases, which they dutifully report as "news." And the Peoria guy explains how hard he and his news staff actually works gathering and then vetting news.
When it came to questions, I raised my hand. Asked: "How
do you justify reporting Rahm's daily press releases and staged photo ops as news?" (The Peoria guy chuckled, my classmates looked at me as: How dare you question the Mighty Oz?)
Embarrassed, the alpha of their group replies: "It's kinda like keeping your dog well fed. When you don't feed the dog, the dog gets into the garbage. Rahm's smart enough to keep us news directors out of his trash."
I retort: "So you've become Rahm's lap dogs instead of the people's watch dogs?" The class laughed, but the news directors were so pissed at me; only the Peoria guy shook my hand when we exited the session.

If crime is soooo bad on Chicago streets, and we are soooo short of manpower, and soooo short of money, how does the mayor justify taking 50 Chicago Police Officer off the street and paying to deploy them at the Democrat Convention? And these cops can't talk to anyone? Shades of Shaved. Maybe we can get Andy Shaw of the BGA to investigate this one. City Inspector General maybe? Naw. Such HYPOCRITES!
I learn things from cop blogs every day... One of those lessons now is that ABC still exists as a news media outlet.

Remember that Obama speech? So where is the DNC being held? Why Charlotte NC the banking capital of the USA some would say. In fact the shindig is at no other then Bank of America stadium. The message could not be any clearer.
And Rahm is set to do his little speech and like the gang on gang violence in Chicago that doesn't effect the rest of the city we ask the question: if a kid is shot on the south side and Rahm is not there to see it did it really happen?
Likewise we also ask if Rahm gives a speech at Bank of America stadium and there is no-one there to hear it did it still happen?

Here in Chicago $55 million dollars can be raised to renovate a park and honor a dead mayors wife while schools, teachers, police, fire, "the children" and all of our futures are ignored.
Oh yeah. That's the priorities I want in our government don't you?
A $55 million dollar park renovation that cannot even be spun as being a tourist attraction where the money will be recouped as an investment in our future.

The 10 year t-bills already at a record low do not even pay enough interest to keep up with the rate of inflation and we call that "quantitative easing" to disguise what is going on.
Why is it important to understand this? Every single person with a retirement fund, 401K, IRA, or savings is being robbed of their wealth as the "time value" of money is manipulated by the Fed.
"Quantitative easing". rewards the people and corporations that are spending beyond their means and the money comes out of the peoples savings trying to live within their means the right way.
Follow the money. We need to send out some pink slips this election. A lot of them. They work for us. We don't work for them. They are public servants not member of a royalty family ruling into infinity.

How, as a society can we justify spending $55 million dollars for a park renovation when we are unwilling or unable to provide better schools or more cops on the streets?
How can you call this a World-Class city with thousands of people being shot in the streets.
How can you call this a World-Class city if you don't care about the public's safety, the quality of education, or care about our children's future enough that a park ranks a higher priority than the people?
I don't know what dictionary these people are reading from but the decisions being made are not the ones that I would expect from a World-Class mayor or a World-Class group of aldermen, or a World-Class Governor, or Speaker of the House.
We can do better. We will do better.

McCarthy has reappeared again in the Mayor's temporary absence; he's got a save-my-ass death grip on this and he's pulling himself up the front of it. "We in Chicago developed the best ways of policing an event such as NATO and we're obligated to share it with the law enforcement community," etc. etc.
Any meetings or training regarding this occurred probably weeks before the convention and must have had little to do with the officers working out there on the street.

Can it also be proved that they have the senority to get that furlough. And if any of them are just using "time due", how does it get approved so far in advanced when others don't know until the day of that they are asking for off.

I detest the mainstream media. They have become lapdogs and are not watchdogs anymore. When the dust settles, no matter which side wins out, either liberty or tyranny, the media will get their just rewards. If liberty wins out, the media should be brought to trial for the damage they have done to this republic. If tyranny wins out, well we all know what tyrants do with the media, so they are screwed either way.
