He's Out Again?
- A woman brutally beaten in the South Loop four years ago says the criminal justice system has failed her and, she fears, is failing to keep others safe.
The attack happened when the woman and her boyfriend refused demands to give two homeless people cigarettes.
The victim says her attacker appears to be experiencing far more freedom than she is.
It was Jen Hall's 36th birthday, but the night of celebration ended abruptly.
"I was paralyzed," she said. "I couldn't walk. I was bald and I had 85 staples in my head. I was missing 20-something teeth, I had 5 or 6 teeth left in my mouth. It was very scary."
Nearly as swift as the beating came arrests and justice. Or so Hall thought.
Two homeless people, Derrick King and Joyce Burgess, were charged with attempted murder. But then, prosecutors struck a deal.
Imagine that....another deal by Anita's people.
King pled guilty to robbery and was sentenced to serve three years in prison. Less than three weeks after that plea deal, he was set free, part of a since scuttled early release program meant to save the state money.
Since his release in 2009, King's rap sheet has grown.
Two new assault charges, two arrests for drug possession and earlier this year he was charged with domestic battery with intent to commit bodily harm.
Over the last ten years, he's been charged with assault, battery, theft, robbery or drug possessions 12 times.
We're afraid someone is going to die at this guy's hands one day. And it will have all have been completely preventable.

In the State's Attorney's Office we have had thieves, incompetants, Chicago political hacks, and now State Police political hacks for as long any anyone can remember. But most would agree that Anita is the most out of touch, political butt licking, politically correct airhead to come along in ages.
Is why people are packing up and leaving Chicago. It's just not safe anymore anywhere.

In my view the Illinois legislature should revisit our truth in sentencing laws."
We should visit our legislators with torches, pitchforks and rope.

He'll have to begin committing crimes in Du Page county or Texas or somewhere other than here.

There are units in the department that work cases that could go state or federal. What pisses me off is the ASAs will bully you to make that case go state and not federal claiming some state charges have stiffer sentencing than federal charges. So what happens? You give it to the state, Anita does the press conference and takes 100 percent credit for your work, and then the state cuts a deal and the bad guys are out with time served.
The point of the story is - All lawyers are liars.
I never thought I would say this, but the United States is done. Destroyed from within like cancer. It will keep getting worse. Corrupt politicians, political correctness, open borders, welfare state......back when I did my 4 years in the Marine Corps I actually believed all that bullshit they spoon fed us, what a fucking joke. Can someone post this guys particulars? DOB, hgt, wgt, etc.? I want to look him up on CLEAR. I figure posting his IR wouldn't be prudent on a public forum, but since his name and face is all over the news, his DOB shouldn't be an issue.
Someone who is very savvy with computers start a Derrick King FB page. Post his pictures and all of his identifiers. Then make the page public so everyone can view it. We should be rid of him in short order.
Another thought, plaster his mug all over YouTube, set it to music and use a catchy description to describe the link. Anything dealing with the police & injustice grabs attention. This will go viral quickly.
Liberals run the courts too. Can't expect any kind of justice except for liberal jurisprudence.
This lovely duo used to hang out in the Jewel parking lot near State and Roosevelt. I remember seeing them around because I shopped there sometimes on the way home after work. They of course never bothered me because these animals can almost smell us a mile away. I remember the incident and how savage the attack was on the victim. This asshole will eventually kill someone. And who to blame? Maybe we can go down to the Democrat Convention and find Anita and ask her about Mr. King. Wouldn't that be fun. She could care less because the victim wasn't anyone important or connected. Crook County Justice!

I find it interesting that Police can be held accountable for people actions after they stop someone and let them go. Why are Judges not held accountable for peoples actions after they release them? It is very disturbing that after the Police do their job that the rest of the legal system fails to do theirs. The decisions should be based on the law not on the counties finances.
If Obama had a father, he would look like King.
It is not the first one like this, either. There was one running loose downtown attacking women for years, picked up, let go, until the old Tribune ran an entire Section 1 back page devoted to him and room was finally found behind some locked door.

Democrats always want to cut prison time down because it costs money to incarcerate people and they always suspect that all these minorities are just in prison because of some racism. Plus, these felons should be allowed to vote! The fact that they'd vote democrat has nothing to do with it.

I passed the intersecion last night on First Avenue just south of Madison where that scumbag tried to murder that badly injured ODPO who wrecked his motorcycle because "Couz" was dragging little what-her-name into the street without looking a couple weeks ago.
There wasa memorial there. I didn't have a camera or else I would send a photo.
It was right there that some scumbag tried to knock me off my motorcycle with a snowball.
I hope it was the same scumbag.

I don't know but I'm down with that idea. The Trib did a follow up story on her within the last 3 or 4 months. It shouldn't take to much detective work. She's back in Ireland now.
