Holiday Weekend

That rarest of coincidences - RDO on a holiday weekend.

We are taking it easy tonight and tomorrow. We'll have short postings tonight and regular posting tomorrow for the holiday. And if an emergency kicks in, someone is monitoring the bat-phone.

Open post in the meantime. Keep it civil and reasonable clean.

All other rules apply.

FYI-City Colleges professionals being offered 2.5% per year for five years.

Adding 1%/year to their insurance costs, capped @ 16%.

Rahm is either using the City College employees as pawns to force CTU into a contract or using the CTU situation to force a bad contract down the throats of City College employees.

Hi All,

Our great friend and Cook County trauma surgeon, Dr. Andrew Dennis, will be part of a new show called 'Chicago Trauma', which will air on Sept. 4th on the Nat Geo channel. Dr. Dennis warns that the show "may be a little graphic so definitely not child appropriate."

For those of you who do not know Dr. Dennis, he is also a SWAT team member and founder of Leomedicus, a training company that provides medical tactics training and equipment to law enforcement. If you don't carry his TRIK kit, you should!

AND BE SURE TO TUNE IN ON SEPT. 4th!

How are "crime" stats compiled? Does a crime need to have a police report filed in order to count towards the official stats? What if a 911 call is made about an assault but when the cops get there the victim does not want to file a report?

I'm trying to see how Rahm's general claim of crime is down is happening. Is it because there truly is less crime or is it because there are less cops to take reports or some non-violent 911 calls get passed off to 311 or not paid a visit? So the cops still give violent crimes top priority, but there is no longer time for the lesser crimes so they do not get reported.

- Did my first masters at Lewis, and undergrad at Cal College. Liked the Lewis program better. Most Lewis classes are at DeLaSalle HS, while some are also offered at Hickory Hills and Oak Brook (along with another I can't remember, as well as online). Cal College was very convenient with the option of day or night mirrored classes. Classes were at academy or IIT on 35th.

Neither one was all that challenging. There are LOTS of people with degrees from these programs that probably shouldn't have GEDs...I'd give Lewis the edge, but it was a masters degree...

Anyone who is on the bubble about going back to school...do it NOW. Have heard that tuition reimbursement will be a very hot topic in upcoming contract negotiations. If they don't eliminate it altogether, you can guarantee that it will be greatly amended. Sign-up now while you still can.

File another one under "Mindless." Shooter didn't even live on the block. Just hanging around forever, waiting for something to jump on.

So what else is new...

No bail for man charged in fatal July shooting

6:53 p.m. CDT, September 1, 2012

"A Chicago man was ordered held without bail Saturday on charges that he shot and killed another man July 21 for yelling at a group of children who were damaging his car with a BB gun.

"Douglas Livingston, 35, of the 8000 block of South Calumet Avenue...left Roshone Eldridge dead and his 43-year-old friend wounded.

"Eldridge, 26, of the 5100 block of South Sangamon Street, and the 43-year-old woman told a group of kids to stop shooting a BB gun at his dump truck on the night of July 20.

"Livingston and a few others angrily approached Eldridge and the woman on the Sangamon block for yelling at the children...

Livingston said he would "get" Eldridge, prosecutors said. About an hour later, around 12:30 a.m. July 21, Livingston returned and fired a semi-automatic pistol at Eldridge and the woman, who were sitting on a porch...

"Eldridge, who was shot seven times in his body and face, died from his injuries..."

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-no-bail-for-man-charged-in-fatal-july-shooting-20120901,0,430456.story

Used to be a man would just take the BB gun away and bust it against a tree.

For those of you who live in 022, a little bit of advice: the latest scam with the gypsies appears to be showing up at block parties and starting some sort of a ruse to draw people away from the houses they are targeting, while others go into the house to loot the place.
Two different block parties in the vicinity of St Cajetans were targeted by the Johns family of gypsies from Oak Lawn. Do a Data Warehouse search for them using the last name, I believe they live around 102 and Tripp, also give an address of 106 and Kilpatrick. They were the ones involved this time.
Also beware the Miller gypsy family from Melrose park. They make an appearance or two every spring and fall.

Anonymous Creepy CPS Teacher said...

Here's another coach always in hot water, but, he seems to wiggle out of it and he continues to work for CPS. His name is Frank Lollino, Jr. and he's the former Boys Head Basketball Coach at Lane Tech, Austin HS, and Morton College. And, he's the son of legendary Chicago basketball coach, the late Frank Lollino, Sr. (Frank Sr. coached Mark Aquirre and Eddie Johnson back in the 70's at Westinghouse). Currently, Frank Jr. is still on the faculty of Lane Tech HS as a PE/DE teacher.

BTW: At Austin HS, Lollino was caught using ineligible players and had to forfeit most, if not all of the games in the 1999-00 season. And then, forced down into the CPS Blue Division in 2000-01.

Here's are links to his latest incident and the court document:

http://wendyista.blogspot.com/2012/02/coach-demanded-sex-from-college-baller.html

http://www.courthousenews.com/2012/02/02/43563.htm

http://www.scribd.com/fullscreen/80253919?access_key=key-2f5dckme5xrfdmj6720r

In the case involving Lollino, Jr. at Lane Tech, I was told the Lane principal (Keith Foley) at the time violated due process and that was the reason CPS couldn't fire Frank Jr., but, I would suggest fact checking that out.

FYI: (Keith Foley, friend of Frank. Sr. and man who hired Frank, Jr. at Lane..Here's the excerpt from a Chicago Tribune article, October 20, 2006

Frank Lollino Jr. is back as a physical education teacher at Lane, putting an end to a 19-month ordeal in which the former Lane basketball coach was fired after one of his players brought charges of sexual harassment.
Lollino, 35, was cleared of all charges by an Illinois State Board of Education hearing officer last April. But he has been banned from coaching in the Public League for driving his players to practices and games along with his alleged use of profane language and other undisclosed reasons.

"I'm just glad it's all behind me," said Lollino, now an assistant basketball coach at Morton College. "All I wanted was a chance to clear my name."

source: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2006-10-20/sports/0610200151_1_sexual-harassment-public-league-brittney-thomas

I highly suggest you definitely check into this guy or send this information onto another Sun-Times reporter to fact check. BTW: Lollino, Jr. stopped being the Morton College head basketball coach in the summer of 2011 according to the court document. A coincidence?

FYI: Lollino, Jr. was named 'Coach of the Year' in the conference for the second year in a row in February, 2011. Why would Morton get rid of him in the summer of 2011?

http://www.fenwickfriars.com/site/Default.aspx?PageType=3&DomainID=189&PageID=1319&ViewID=97313d1d-a9cf-4646-a5a5-0c355fbac071&FlexDataID=899

According to this link from the Sun-Times, Conte Stamas was named Morton's basketball coach in Sept. 2011. Though, I can't find anything where it says Men's not Women's coach:

Just saw Rahm on the news. He was on "Meet The Press". He said crime is down 10% overall in the city, and, this doozie...SHOOTINGS ARE ALSO DOWN! He said more police are on the street, and, with the exception of the 1st quarter of the year, shootings are down. Then the newsreader said, "this comes as 17 people were shot this weekend". Someone get Rahm to random drug testing, because he's gotta be on some major hallucinatory drugs.

Does anyone know how to get into contact with Bill Cozzi? I was writing to him while he was away, and I just wanted to drop him a line or two to say hello, but he seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth. I mean, if he wants privacy, I understand; I am only trying to give a friend a little support. Is Sgt.Northen(sp?) still able to direct mail to him? It seems like ever since he was at the half-way house on Ashland he disappeared, and I wanted him to know he wasn't forgotten.

They also used to have classes in Hickory Hills on Roberts Rd south of 95th..It's been years since I've gone there..anyone know if it's still open?

Re: Crime Stats.
The only crimes that get reported are ones associated with a R D Number.
In the late 70's and early 80's, whenever a stat was reported, it was always worded as "Reported Crime," as being up or down.
There is a difference between "Reported Crime," and Actual Crime.
How does one make this distinction? Some prestigious university set out to conduct some research on crime stats. They interviewed a huge sampling, and asked them if they had ever been a Victim of a crime, and if so, had they reported it to the appropriate authorities .
I don't recall the actual percentage, but something like 15% of their sampling, stated that they in fact been victimized but for what ever reason, did not report the crime to police.
Sometime in the 80's the "Reported Crime" tag went away in favor of the more popular but less accurate, "Crime."
I'm sure everyone has experienced this themselves. I've had snow shovels and lawn ornaments taken from my house and business. I wouldn't think of tying up the police on trivial matters that won't ever be solved when the police have more important things to do.

Try getting into the House of Blues with your concealed off duty gun. They wand everyone and will refuse CPD entry with a gun. You can argue the point with them all you want about laws etc. but by the time u get done arguing the show will be over. There are places that won't " give us permission.". So this person asking a question is not unreasonable. The question is how far are you willing to push/argue the issue ??

9/02/2012 09:28:00 AM

No, the qusetion is would you REALLY want to patronize an establishment that is not LEO friendly and would deny you the lawful protected right you have to carry off duty?? Apparently, this business hasn't learned a damn thing with all the recent crazies shooting up places across the US. If the shit hit the fan inside the club they would be crying for an armed od LEO. Take your business elsewhere and avoid this place.

9/02/2012 03:26:00 PM

Actually, due to several instances of stupidity by ODPO'S, The House Of Blues decided to ban weapons. They used to allow you to lock them in the managers safe, but too many street lawyers protested. Now, you simply can't bring it in. More than one gun hit the floor there during mosh pits and dance parties. The Management is NOT anti-cop! They go out of their way to take care of PO's with comped opera boxes and access to the Foundation Room. Just without your weapon. As usual, we ruined it for ourselves! Try bringing a weapon into a casino. Same reason. Moron coppers need to let everyone know they have one, next thing you know, no one is allowed to bring them in.

The only thing they cater to the police on is the tuition waiver for reimbursement. Lewis offers classes in various locations and online. Be careful though, online classes are not as easy as they sound, in most cases they are harder and require a lot of self-discipline to succeed. Good luck!

Why wear red? Think of history, Red is the color of communism. "Workers of the world unite". A phrase used by the left to fool the public, sounds good , but hijack the true meaning of promoting a employees rights, for the sake of power. Unions are the means in which the left uses to maintain power, which means obtain money. Unions , lodges, do they actually help their members when the going gets tough? .. No they just want to keep their grip on power and money.
