It's the stupid lies that get everyone caught:
- I saw a report that said that the cops that went to DNC were ALL on vacation. Can that be looked into to make sure that they are truely all on furlough? Can it also be proved that they have the senority to get that furlough. And if any of them are just using "time due", how does it get approved so far in advanced when others don't know until the day of that they are asking for off.

Gee, an entire unit that just happened to all bid furlough during the DNC. Yeah, that really happened. What a bunch of morons. A quick check of the A&A's reveals this is a lie.
The conference in Pittsburgh a few years back, the one where Frank Gross was taking pictures of handcuffed prisoners like trophy marlins? That was all by volunteers. The department posted that people in a certain day off group or on furlough could apply for the event, which involved 12-hour days and lots of OT.
The Katrina relief effort was an emergency situation that ended up being staffed by members of the then-HBT team and the now defunct Special Operations Section.
One was a planned event, the other an emergency. We don't see the DNC being an unscheduled emergency. FOP, any word on redress for this? Or are you just practicing rolling over and taking it for the new contract Rahm is going to grace us with?

I was on fulro during the g8 summit and got a call asking if I'd like to go so I said yes. I happen to be on furlo now and I got no such call for the dnc. What gives?

They are using comp time for the days they were scheduled to work in Chicago. Then the federal government is paying them time and a half to be at the convention. No big deal. People whining probably didn't set a foot downtown during NATO like those 50 did.

They asked for volunteers who were from the MFF and they used elective time off to go. We are reciprocating the help given to us by Charlotte for the NATO conference. Yes some could be on furlough, some took an unpaid status but most took time.
The Lt. that went down there took time due to go !!
Volunteers. They had to burn time. Get paid time and a half. Federal money. Racoon and McNumbers get credit for any good that comes out of it.
This "detail" is made up of officers who are a part of the (elite?) all volunteer Mobile Field Force. These MFFers were detailed from their assigned units to the BOP. They were required to use comp time to attend the DNC. Since they do have the special training to be effective there it's all done within the contract.
Every copper had the opportunity to volunteer to be a part of MFF when it was established. The majority of officers were smart enough to stay away after they saw the ass-rape the TRU and MSF officers received.
If you want to be pissed of at anyone be pissed off at those that did volunteer. They are the problem. Our ranks were split again. Another case of my needs are more important than the needs of all.
WGN Reported Monday night all the officers were on vacation and paid for their service at the convention by the DNC, also WGN reported CPD is at full staffing level.

GM should of just went bankrupt. The political apparatus promotes that the company would of just disappeared taking all of it's jobs with it.

We all know this story is bullshit from the get go. What I would like to see is the actual $COST$ of sending these officers to the convention. Transportation, housing, food, and whatever else they need. How is this being paid for? How is it justified when we have citizens getting shot and murdered on the streets of our city. Our asshole lying conniving politicians can always find money for things they want to do. Anything they can put their names on or take credit for.
How many officers did we send to the Republican Convention? And how do we justify using tax dollars to pay for this. Shouldn't it come from donated political funds?
This detail was offered to the p.o.'s that were in the mff unit for Nato whether or not you volunteered or were forced to volunteer. You had to be on furlough or burn your time to be eligible to go to the DNC.

They took 50 coppers from the various SAT teams. Seniority was used in for choosing officers from A/S but not from the other Areas. Furlo not a requirement in fact most officers burned 3-4 days CU.
My beat cop is there and, quite frankly, I'm pissed at the crap some of you are laying at his feet. I'm from a family of non-clouted cop and I can tell you my beat cop is one of the best, most dedicated cops I've ever met (after my brothers).
In fact, my beat meeting is this week and I needed to get some 411 from him on an incident that is sure to be discussed. He spent about 30 minutes briefing me via text yesterday morning about not only the incident, but the backstory of the individuals involved.
I can'r vouch for any of the other cops there, but I know at least one of the officers is a hard working "old school" cop and people who say otherwise don't know what they are talking about.

Excellent point. Kinda like blowing off the 6 hour part time job @ $40/hour to work the 8 hour part time job @ $25/hour. That's called Fuzzy Math. So, one can surmise the following:
A) these volunteer scabs ARE that stupid
B) there's something hinky being done with the attendance sheets
C) these volunteer scabs fell for the dept. okeydoke of promisees of something better down the line
D) a little each of A, B & C
MFF officers from Academy were asked if they wanted to volunteer.
No furlough time taken as most have no time on job and already used their furloghs for the year.

This is not true and Deputy Chief Georgas took both of his Secretaries and his personal Sergeant with him, though Chief Skahill is over Special Functions. Why does his Secretaries have to go? And why does any Deputy Chief have TWO SECRETARIES? What work is he doing? You talk about misuse of manpower and authority. He also hand picked the officers that he took with him from a select group. Funny how many theories are floating out there. Facts are these.
No CPD sent to Florida because Florida law prohibits non Florida police.
MFF sent because they volunteered to join for NATO. If you wanted to be there for NATO and weren't because you listened to FOP, that's on you. Now they have the training and can go when an MFF is requested anywhere.
They had to use time because the Feds who pay for all this just like they paid us for NATO won't pay if you're
already being paid. This is done by every agency down there, so you can stop the conspiracy theories.

10:48PM is absolutely correct. ALL expenses are being paid for by the DNC / fed govt as a NSSE (like NATO was here). The officers are taking CU or other elective time and getting a check for time and a half. Yes, the simple explanation to the media was that they're using vacation time. You old timers were right. I should never have volunteered for this detail. We just found out that we're only clearing $3800.00 and that's at my four year rate.
Next year at the Inauguration, I'll make a little more after that five year rate kicks in, but I'm pretty salty right now.
