Thanksgiving Shooting

  • A man who was attacking passengers and the driver of a CTA bus in the Marquette Park neighborhood was shot and Tasered by police after he tried to attack officers this afternoon, officials said.

The incident happened at about 4 p.m. as a California Avenue CTA bus was northbound near 63rd Street, said Patrick Camden, a spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7.

The man, in his late 20s and who appeared to be impaired, began attacking several passengers on the bus, Camden said.
And exactly what is the purpose of throwing in the "appeared to be impaired" comment? Either he was or he wasn't and neither state precludes him from getting shot and Tasered by responding officers if they felt their life was in danger.

In any event, the Officer involved went home safe. That is what matters.

UPDATE: We heard the Camden clip and from what we remember, Camden didn't say anything except "the man began attacking several passengers."  The "appeared to be impaired" part was added by the media after talking to witnesses.  So all you Camden defenders, lighten up.  We have teased the Orange One on occasion but he's doing good work for the FOP, and we've said so numerous times.  We don't want Pat's job, so there's nothing for us to be jealous of.  And we're already taller than him.

The liberal, Obama worshipping media is tacitly announcing that this savage has some variation of a mental impairment, thereby setting him up for an affirmative defense come trial time.

Ya see, reparations of the fiscal type aren't likely given the amount of entitlements he alraady receives and the pisspoor economy in general. Therefore it is imperative that the Brutha is on the receiving end of a "solid" in some other way, shape or form.

Fell asleep with the tv on...woke up long enough to catch the morning liberal bullshit...er the news I mean...teen girl returns from hospital that was shot in the head by 104 and Aberdeen...moms gets on the camera and says, "for the young kids, they need to do something about the guns because its just ra-dick-a-las".

Yes ma'am, it sure is ridiculous. It is ridiculous that these guns keep jumping up and shooting people all by themselves...oh wait that's not right. It is ridiculous that there is a culture that promotes violence and lack of personal responsibility. Look at your own community for the answers, not the police and not the government...won't someone please think of the children?!

I covered up my children, gave them a kiss on the head, and I'm back to bed. I did my part. Be safe out there and take care of each other.

This is exactly why the orange one has no business commenting on a shooting five minutes after he shows up on a scene. Ipra had a policy where they made no comment at at all. And like them or not thats a good policy. Theres no reason to get our side of the story out. And when one day the Orange one says something thats totally wrong and is subpoenaed at the civil trial and costs a copper money we will see how many fans he still has.

Off Topic,SCC a couple of guys in the unit caught this, the City cheated all of us out of 50$. On page 34 in the contract book section 20.13 it states Effective on each of the following effective dates, all officers shall be paid the following quarterly amounts 1 Jan 11 755.00$ on 1 Jan 12 805.00$. We discovered that the City payed us 755.00 on 1 Jan 12, the last duty availability check 1 OCT 12 we should have 3220.00$ but when you look at the check stub it says 3170.00$. The city held 50$ from all of us. 9000 officers x 50$ =450,000.00$ thats a nice payday for the city. Please look into this..

Maybe alot has to do with the following departments being at or above full strength.
From WJLA-DC:
The number of 2012 killings in the District of Columbia stands at 78 and is on pace to finish lower than 100 for the first time since 1963, police records show.
The drop reflects a downward trend in violent crime nationwide and is in line with declining homicides in other big cities. Though killings have risen in Chicago, New York City officials say homicides dropped to 515 last year from 2,262 in 1990. Houston police reported 198 homicides last year, down from 457 in 1985, while Los Angeles ended last year with fewer than 300 after reporting 1,092 in 1992. Across the country, violent crime reported by police to the FBI fell by 3.8 percent last year from 2010.

Hey mr .45 acp.......get off ur high horse. A suburban cop shot a bank robber twelve plus times center mass with .45 acp and the bad guy was still shooting back. The wounds were deadly but it takes time for blood pressure to drop. Bottom line is unless you hit brain stem or brain it's not like the movies. Some officers are better suited with eighteen 9mm rounds and thirty round extra mags. Especially if they place their shots more accurately and often.

BEGINNING 1 Jan 12 you receive $855, thats reflected on the next Duty Availaiblilty check. No wonder all you hair gels and young guys still can't figure things out.

I agree. Why didn't the officers use verbal judo first to gain voluntary compliance from the offender? What happen to procedural justice and making the person feel better after meeting the police? Verbal commands are crucial on the street to gain the respect of community members. We need to police smarter and not resort to the use of force so quickly. Just sayin...

Associated Press

3:54 p.m. CST, November 24, 2012
Two Chicago congressmen reiterated their support for Jesse Jackson Jr. on Saturday, saying the former Illinois congressman is suffering greatly and needs time to get healthy before he can address the public.

U.S. Reps. Danny Davis and Bobby Rush joined about 200 people for the weekly service at the Rev. Jesse Jackson's Rainbow PUSH Coalition in Chicago. The service included a special prayer for Jackson Jr., and his family.

***

Rush and Davis also said they were disappointed that more politicians didn't attend Saturday's service. Davis called them "fair-weather friends," saying when people are running for office or have a problem they frequently turn to Rev. Jackson and Rainbow PUSH.

"My question remains now, when this family is in need, where are they?" Rush said.

(on JJJ replacement)

...Rush said he thinks any of Jesse Jackson's siblings would be good candidates.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-supporters-rally-behind-jesse-jackson-jr-20121124,0,4674526.story

Oh it's so-so sad.

We should put one of his siblings in his place and then pay him disability ya know...it's the least that we can do as taxpayers.

hahaha.

Have they won you're hearts and minds to enable that yet?
