And Another Shooting
- A man was shot and wounded by police after he led officers on a chase through yards and alleys of the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, then crouched and pointed a gun, officials said.
The person was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger Hospital, according to Fire Department spokesman Will Knight. No officers were injured when the man, believed to be 21, was shot, a police union spokesman said.
Gun recovered, bad guy in intensive care, cops go home - that's a good day. Best wishes to the involved officers.

I remember your first day on the job M.H, great job brother and always be safe... DM
How many of these checks have been written for St Maggie of Chicago commemorative parks, gardens and museums.
Cops being shot, cops being carjacked, cops being body slammed and we have a station supervisor on second watch who is pissed off that we can't match the contact card numbers that the 8th and 10 dist have done. What a great city and what great bosses we have.
LT J Andrews you are a stroke, now go hide somewhere because 90 percent of the dist can't stand your useless ass. I can see a few guys not liking you because not everyone gets along, but when all the good sgts are leaving, Harb, Soria, Schmitt, Stubbe, its not us its you dumbass. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Oh and thanks for berating us at roll call, then sending us a THANK YOU message via PDT telling us we are doing a good job. Your double talk hypocrisy doesn't fly with us.
Nicely done.
Nice work, po-lice.
Were all glad you're safe.
Next we'll see his "mamas" on tv blaring about how "y'all shot my baybay!"
The shithead should have went to the morgue!!! Glad the PO is ok!
"One shot to knock em down, One to keep em down!"
Big changes coming Friday !!
We, the citizens, support our police officers. You are exceptional.
The police officer who bought shoes for a barefoot homeless man
Jennifer Foster was visiting Times Square on Nov. 14 when she snapped the heartwarming moment. Here's her account of what happened:
“Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him. The officer said, ‘I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you.’ The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching*. I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer’s name. It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared.”

Maybe I missed the reason we become police? I thought it was to enforce the law, to arrest people, to serve and protect. Its great that a police officer could help a person out but we as cops are not out here to serve food give rides and put socks and shoes on homeless people. Maybe take them to a shelter but we are police officers not babysitters.
"No Officers injured".....always good news.

He's not handing out shoes full-time. The guy I'm sure is a real pro officer -- but he can engage in an act of kindness.
Might as well tell you --
"Your neighbor is a plumber, not a security guard to call in on people tearing the aluminum downspouts off your house, not a babysitter to watch your kids when there's a sudden emergency, not a snow-blower when you are working and your pregnant wife can't cope with the 12" fall, not an auto mechanic to give you a jump start."
You woudn't like that huh? :-)
"Cast your bread on the waters." Gotta give some to get some.
Stay extra safe!
