Crime is Down...Except for.....
Everyone knows overall crime is down in Chicago, right? The mayor and the superintendent keep telling us so. Never mind the fact that CompStat is built to manipulate crime statistics, that it is being debunked by its very creators in New York City, that Milwaukee is in the middle of a crime counting scandal based on their version of CompStat. All that is just nonsense - if Rahm and McCarthy pretend it doesn't exist, the media lapdogs will cover for them.
So overall crime is down, except for those pesky killings and shootings. You can't easily hide a dead body first of all. And someone with extra holes in them is going to be treated at a hospital, so there's an outside paper trail that has to be explained. So the media will accept rises in these types of crimes, but continue to believe (and tell the public) that crime is down everywhere else.
Then this happens:

It's not clear what's causing the jump, though the feds say hard economic times and the holidays aren't always to blame for the crimes.
Up 70%. Nearly double the 2011 totals, and although not in danger of passing the record of 284 set back in 2006, still on the way to break 200.

If overall crime is down, McBudweiser should be congratulating the commanders at the FlopStat meetings instead of scolding them.
Just remember numbers do not count, if you are not counting them.
The 15 district is leading the city in crime reduction. Just look at the third watch to see the commander's master plan in action. First put up multiple foot posts that don't respond to calls. Then take all of your rapid response cars and put them on bullshit missions so they cannot respond to calls. By reducing the number cars responding to calls you put yourself in a backlog every day. Now the beat cars get overworked and moral goes further in the crapper and the beat cars hold their jobs because, they know if they come clear it will be more jobs. In-progress calls don't get dispatched in time to catch an offender. Victims don't wait for reports. Since there are fewer arrests and reports generated, crime goes down. Except for homicides and Agg. Bats, because officers still respond to those jobs... Oh and then there is the coup de grace: Eliminate day and afternoon positions to create a whole bunch of midnight officers that no longer want to work.
All the shit that McBullshit pulls and I still can't believe he has not been shown the door. We are so short it is dangerous.
I called for an E.T.to process a scene and was told they may be able to get to it on the next watch, which was going to be at least 4 hours later. I had this happen to me now on 3 occasions over the last 2 weeks. So I decide to call the E.T.'s Office on the phone and I am told by an unnamed employee that they only had 3 people working on the watch and that I should tell the victim to get a C.R. # on the city for failing to provide Poice service. I appreciated their honesty and told the victim to do so. We are going down hill fast and 9.5 and his puppet keep bullshitting the public.
If the public really knew how bad it was everybody would be armed. Please be careful out there and wait for backup nothing out there is worth your life.
Sorry for the rant I just want to stress this because it is the holiday season and we do not need anymore tragedies.
No doubt about it we are being mislead from the president on down.

Washington boasts about 33 consecutive months of job growth from Nov 2007 to Dec 2011, the creation of 5.6 million jobs, as though we have return from the edge.
Nevertheless over that same time frame the number of people collecting Food Stamps increased nearly by a factor of 4 times the job creation rate, roughly 20 million people. And I ask you how many people entered the workforce over those years? In other words the population growth rate.
So ask yourself what kind of jobs are we creating if any of it is to be believed.
Today's BLS job report claimed "Non-farm" payroll gains with much hype. Go to the BLS.GOV site and look at the full report and you'll find that the total number of people in the workforce WENT DOWN!

Taking money out of social security then replacing some of that money with Fannie MAE and Freddy Mac accounting magic bailout money.
We're even about to take that Fannie Mae bailout money and use it to fund the immigrant green card program for STEM graduates because corporations claim skill shortages to drive wage costs down.

Their message, to quickly divert attention away from Englewood killings and Michigan Avenue becoming the new terror town - is that them bad white dudes is always the ones with the guns! Don't know if that's the reason why but in roll call the day after the incident where 5 people got shot in two separate incidents the commander told the ss that we need cont. cards- wtf, like that is going to change anything. Why is that the standing knee jerk reaction of these bosses to everything? "There's been a shooting- better do a mission! We need contact cards!" So officers waste their time stoping 99% of the citizens who have absolutely nothing to do with the crime, yet are stopped, cited, and inconvenienced all because some merit hack boss needs to justify their existence. they are going to wait until the new year, this way they dont have to pay overtime for furloughs missed. and since all being promoted probably wont ask for a first period furlough, they save money. If your going to be promoted , i say take the early furlough and make some extra dough.

1. Off target, off trigger. Watch your muzzle. Watch your background. Know condition of weapon; be consistent. Pay special attention to reloading and to range drills of clearing malfunctions.
2. Familiarize yourself. Study manual thoroughly, repeatedly. Strip, clean, reassemble weapon with the book and a cup of coffee by your side. It will come that you can properly name out each part, and understand how they all work together. That is good.
Enough murders out there without an accident too. Stay safe everyone.

My Dad was visiting from out of town recently and saw a picture of McJersey in uniform in the newspaper. You got it -- commander wonders where the 0900 Rapid cars on days are, but wants 3 foot posts manned 7 days a week, + 1 beat car as a 2 man car, and shorts the watch to put more on midnights. Gee - I can figure out where the 0900 cars are - can you ?
OT- Our new station is finally opening next week. Not only will we have to travel twice as far just to get to the station because of the combining of 12 and 13 but the lock up is not going to be used.
The message is clear to me that they do not want us to make arrests. If you do make an arrest, it will take you at least 45 mins to an hour just to get to the station. Once you are done processing, you have to transport another distance to the lock up. A simple arrest would take at least 4 hours or more and would take us away from our beats for that amount of time. Don't get me wrong, I am not for doing anymore than I have to, to make the day go by and get home safe, but the message is clear.
Spend millions of dollars to put in a male and female lock up but use it to gather dust instead of using that money to hire more coppers?
I am hoping to be there for the tiny Dancer's visit on opening day and ask him in front of the cameras why build a lock up and not use it. Especially since they will be demonstrating the lock up to the public as if it will be functional. In the event I can't be there, anyone else care to raise the question? How about a media troll?

Off topic if you read this blog mccarthy maybe il agree with you we should do more with less I agree some coppers being lazy is part of the problem but can you explain to me why in 013 today you had only 3 cars up on days yet there was 3 PO s and a sgt from neighborhood relations working inside selling old t-shirts and coffee mugs for 013. Tells people to get out of . the car and "put . their hands on people" and "challenge them" when you see them out. Sounds like heartache and a federal lawsuit to me. I've read it on here before and I was a witness. ALL of Barb's street time was working 1st Watch in 012 from 97 to 99. That's it, all of it; P.O., merit det, merit sgt, merit lt; her only street time was a 1st Watch P.O. for two years in 012 in the 90's. She worked a beat that had a USPS secured fenced parking lot. She had a set of keys to the lot and each night she took a full sized pillow out of her personal car for snoozing in the hole. Put your hands on people? Challenge people? Barb got out of the car for 3 things: lunch, the toilet, and check-off.

It seems that Auto theft which Detective still investigate... Hard to believe are looked at.
The reasoning is to have victims recant incidents and close out all the old cases.
The end of the year numbers will look fabulous once all the cases are closed!
And burglary to garages will no exist in the future.
they are going to wait until the new year, this way they dont have to pay overtime for furloughs missed. and since all being promoted probably wont ask for a first period furlough, they save money. If your going to be promoted , i say take the early furlough and make some extra dough.

If you're short on the list and take a 1st period furlough, they will just cancel your furlough and give it to you at a later date. You won't make a dime. The reason they can't do that with a 13th period furlough is that it's the end of the year and they can't give you a furlough at a later date, forcing them to compensate you monetarily. It makes all the sense in the world for the department to wait until after the new year to promote a new class of detectives.

Keep telling yourself that nonsense to keep your hope alive that someday you'll be made detective by merit. We understand that you weren't smart enough to pass the detective exam so you have to spread lies and rumors to make yourself feel better. You'll just have to continue pretending to be a detective on the tact team. Pookie and Mookie believe that you're a detective with your ripped blue jeans and your backward baseball cap because they watch the same television shows that you do, and that's all that really matters.

Area 1 Dicks calling all auto theft victims to verify reports. They are hoping to unfound several hundred especially those in 001 and 018 where the victim may have been drunk and forgot where they parked or got towed. Rumor is the Commander on hot seat to improve the numbers.
You have to wait till the Sgt's are finished in the academy before you can get a detectives class in. Too many police officers off the street at the same time would be too telling about manpower shortages.

Good idea... used to work in 018 years ago and would visit Pioneer Towing every week. Mistakes made in entering their reports or by victims or by police often led to cars getting on the "Hot Sheet". (Remember those) One month I recovered well over a dozen "stolen cars" mostly from there and comparing addresses and talking to victims ended many reports "…request case be UNDOUNDED."*
*(Patrol couldn't UNFOUND cases)
Now if we had as many police officers now as we had then we could drive around the area after taking a Stolen Auto Report and spot the car. That happened a lot. We would find the victim, tell them where their car was and back in those days…
