More Money Pissed Away

  • On a chilly afternoon this fall, teenagers across Chicago's South Side were busy at work, earning $8.75 an hour to hand out fliers with a message of non-violence.

"Our message that we're giving out today is about being healthy," said 18-year-old Lucia Eloisa. "One of the key pointers is about taking time to reflect and seek inner peace."

Eloisa's part-time job was paid for by an ambitious state-funded program to keep at-risk teenagers out of trouble. It pumped nearly $55 million into Chicago's toughest neighborhoods and three of its suburbs to stem unrelenting gang violence.

A four-month CNN investigation found that not only did the Neighborhood Recovery Initiative (NRI) pay teens to hand out fliers promoting inner peace, it also paid these at-risk teens to take field trips to museums, march in a parade with the governor, and even attend a yoga class to learn how to handle stress.

Earlier this year, state legislators passed a resolution demanding the state conduct an audit on the program. That audit is under way.
Gee.  An audit.  How wonderful.  We'll probably hear something about it in a year or three.

In the meantime, that $55 million could have built a second park memorializing Maggie Daley or Marie Antoinette or someone.

How about having them just go to church, stop smoking Dro, and stop kicking it with multiple partners.

If you think that's bad, Quinn and Rhamberg Rabbit almost have a deal for a city casino...with all money going to Chicago Public Schools. Just like the lottery money. Now, it appears to me that CPS is a good gateway to make money disappear. City employees should demand that money be used to shore up pensions, before dishes out more money to the schools. The outcome will be the same and pensioners will still be dangling on a cliff. Not a way to spend your "golden years". The thievery is slapped in our faces daily, by these politicians. The fall guy goes to jail for a few months and keeps his mouth shut. The others benefit and take care of him when he gets out and takes care of his family. Enough is enough. Let's end this before it starts. Let's protest any casinos in the city unless the money goes to the pensions first. Don't believe the shit they put in the newspaper last week about casino money not being enough to help the pensions. That's crazy. Teachers, CPD, CFD and all city employees ban together and start making noise!!!

..and the mayor chips in a million dollahs to the city churls from his personal use NATO slush fund today too.

Could it be a result of the CPD welcoming committee from the residents on 37th street the other night whereas cars from seven had to be sent to protect the shooting crime scene or perhaps it's just another division of the Cease Fire Street Friars?

Yep, the chance for the photo op couldn't be passed up today. $1 million dollahs to expand yoga classes "for the children" at risk. Complete with phony grimaces and affected language.

affected (adj) pretended; insincere; not natural.

An affected interest in a thing, or in a person, is interest which you pretend to have, but which you really do not feel. When a person, just to make an impression, speaks with an accent, which clearly appears to be an imitation, their accent is affected. When you laugh at some thing just to please others, and not because you really find any reason for it, the laughter is affected. We talk of an affected smile; a person's manners, language, gestures can be affected, if they are not natural to the person.

He was tiring every one around him, with his affected language and mannerisms, as it was very clear that he wanted to impress others with his new status as the student of number one university in the country.
Every one there, especially those who had known her much earlier, could see that she was very affected in her gestures, speech, and smiles, which were different from her natural ones.

Everyone will just have to lower their expectations on their entitlement money that's all.

You know.... lower our expectations on the money that we paid into social security, medicare, pensions, etc..

Yeah, we're not getting that back.

That's what the CEO's are directing their political puppets to do. Lower their expectations because you're not taxing us if you want to keep those campaign contributions coming.

The money has been raided from pensions, social security. Politicians pissed it away on their projects involving their clouted friends. Now we have a crisis that we can use while trying to play the hero of saving some small portion that's leftover. Meanwhile they'll pass bills to protect themselves and legalize the thefts that have been committed.

A quick bounce up to the top story will answer the question; Why was this guy out? Quinn closes prisons and lays off guards because they're not in use. They're not in use because the thugs are all paroled. The money saved goes to programs like this. Last night Rahm said a similar program keeps guns, drugs and kids off of the streets and is therefore more effective than hiring cops.

How about giving half of them brooms to sweep up the litter that the fliers will eventually become. Then they possibly, but not likely, will accidently sweep up something else and improve the streets of those shitholes.

Why aren't the kids of parents who pay taxes and forced to pay $10,000 a year for high school tuition (because the "neighborhood" public school is a joke filled with "students" from all over the city), ever offered anything. There's no "programs" or special job opportunities for them, ever. How much are the people running all these programs paid? 55,000,000? WTF?

You have to look at who was the bill's sponsor and who was hired as program administrators and what they were paid. That is the key to these state grant programs. Many of these programs are money makers for the sponsors and adminsitrators who get huge salaries and benefits.

Don't look at the kid who got $8.75 per, look at the rev, the "community activist," the "administrator," "facilitator" who drove away in a nice car off this.

Everyone roars and points at the $2400/year LINK recipient with the nickel Obamaphone, while the School Of Social Service Administration grads glide by in hushed, padded, tinted foreign comfort, smartphoning their home digital refrigerator on the cloud.

Handing the teller a note is nothing. These people are "administering" government grants for "BREAST FEEDING LIFE COORDINATORS positions open, must be bilingual." No kidding. Like any mammal needed an app to suckle its brood in the last 200,000 years.

As the TV commercial shows, a deposit is automatically made to their Chase Bank account while they are rock climbing braless.

You get "inner peace."

Model of our society? Think of a funnel. A billion dollars goes in the top, a baby aspirin comes out the bottom for show.

THERE IT GOES AGAIN!

It was on TV last night. He is handing it out right and left to the revs and the hispanoradicals.

I'd say he looked like some newly rich guy going through a hotel lobby, laying it all around him on the butlers and bellboys and doormen, except that a grabby little shitass who showed the world pictures of the "light fixtures" in his "Chicago residence" -- who owned them, who put them in, who took them out -- would never be in any danger of exercising largesse with personal funds.

Another sign that end ot time in Illinois can not be reversed today in the news "The Will County Board made history on Monday when it unanimously elected the Rev. Herb Brooks Jr. as its first black leader.

“It makes me proud not only to represent my party, but all the ethnic groups across Will County,” the Joliet Democrat said after the county board’s reorganization meeting. “More importantly though, it’s important that government recognize that it doesn’t matter what your race, creed or color is. What’s important is the job that’s at stake.”

And this after the Republicans & Demcrats compromised and changed the title to Chairman instead of Leader

"NO SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS FOR YOU!" -- GOLDMAN SACHS CEO, LLOYD BLANKFEIN

"An interview with Lloyd Blankfein is as rare as a look inside the Goldman Sachs money machine. He showed us one of seven trading floors at his Manhattan headquarters. Goldman is one of America's most successful investment banks. It had net earnings of $4.4 billion dollars last year.

BLANKFEIN: "You're going to have to undoubtedly do something to lower people's expectations -- the entitlements and what people think that they're going to get, because it's not going to -- they're not going to get it.

PELLEY: "Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid?

BLANKFEIN: "...we can't afford them."

For the same reason that parents of students at Clissold, Sutherland, Kellogg and Edison Park won't get those gift cards for going to parent teacher night. In order for people in some neighborhoods to take responsibility, they have to be paid. You need flyers handed out that will promote safety or something? PAY ME! You need me to get my kid's report card? PAY ME! You need me to hang around the local school during dismissal? PAY ME!

We are doomed.
