McCarthy Misstep Goes National
- During an interview on radio station WVON 1690 am this week Chicago’s Police Chief Gary McCarthy surprised listeners when he commented on the upcoming concealed carry law that must be passed in Illinois within the next six months. McCarthy made a scary prediction that citizens carrying legally could be shot by Chicago police.
Gateway Pundit numbers readers many times our totals (we have 15,000 per day on average.) As the gun "debate" rages and the deadline for Illinois Concealed Carry approaches, these words are probably going to come back to haunt Garry.
The Illinois State Rife Association already had to put out a warning of exaggerations attached to this ignorant speech.

This is evidence that Mccarthy is a true liar and dumb person. First of all, with the many ten's of thousands of police officers that have carried their weapons off duty over the many years, not one has been shot by the on duty police. Being off duty and carrying is the same as a citizen carrying on the conceal carry. The initial encounter with the police is the same.

Kane County gun show draws crowds of buyers
Gun sales brisk at Kane County Sportsman’s Show

Cramped aisles and steady transactions marked the Kane County Sportsman's Show Sunday with sales of ammunition and semiautomatic firearms topping the list.
Don Moran, president of the Illinois State Rifle Association, who was at the show, noted how little ammunition was left even at 11 a.m. — a few hours before the event wrapped up. The gun show ran from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles. When Moran left, he stopped by the Gander Mountain store in Geneva and found the same empty shelves.
Moran said gun sales on any type of semiautomatic firearm are up, whether it's a handgun or a rifle, and the corresponding ammunition is selling quickly as well.
"People are just afraid that they're going to get banned," Moran said. "Maybe they've been thinking about buying one, and they've been putting it off. What's going on in the state and nationally — they're scared they won't be able to buy it if they wait."
The next Kane County Sportsman's Show will be from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at the fairgrounds.

Retired and I have really tried to have an open mind about McCarthy. I thought he did a great job during the World Trade event last year but when I saw the rant with Rev. Jackson at Operation Push I now know he has to go. To bring up Trayvon Martin as an excuse to not allow Conceal/Carry has sealed his fate. If George Zimmerman had not had his leag weapon with him that night he would in fact be dead. I saw the photo recently of Mr. Zimmerman with a busted nose and numerous cuts, welts, and abrasions all over his face and the back of his head. Trayvon would have killed this man if he had not acted in self defense. You are expendable Mr. McCarthy. You are being used by the mayor and the extortionist Reverends in this city. You should resign and go somewhere else.
Why has the Chicago Police Dept. lost the streets to criminals and thugs? Our own mayor and police supt. have become a joke. An embarrassment. The thugs now know they have the upper hand and are making full use of their new power. Chicago is doomed. Detroit here we come.
Lafayette gun sales continue to go up

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Dave Schnelle can't keep his store in stock.
"Ammunition is flying off the shelves," Schnelle said. "Firearms, reloading components, everything [is selling out]."
Schnelle owns Applied Ballistic Systems in Lafayette. He is just one of many gun shop owners around the nations who has seen skyrocketing gun sales.
"Our sales in the fourth quarter of 2012 were up 40 percent," Schnelle said.
Owners at Four Guns on Earl Avenue track the same kind of sales. They said they've seen Black Friday sales for the last month....

According to a National Shooting Sports Foundation report gun sales went up by nearly 800,000 in December 2012 compared to the same month in 2011. All together almost 3 million more guns were sold in 2012 compared to the year before.
"We could bring in a truck load of AR 15's and they would be gone in a week," Schnelle said.
Schnelle said people see possible regulations being put on semiautomatic guns and high capacity magazines. Not only are they buying now, they're buying at any price.
"If you look on the internet the going price for an AR 15 is anywhere between $700 to $1,000," Schnelle said. "Now they're bringing in upward to $2,000."

last night, V.P. Biden asked large box stores like Walmart and Sports Authority to stop selling guns to lawful citizens so Obama can get a chance to force new legislation to ban gun sales. This is as dumb as Peloise's comment, "we need to past this bill to find out whats in it." Now the mayor is trying to jump out in front if the attack on 2nd amendment by not allowing city pension investments in weapon manufacturing. I wish the mayor would just fund our city pensions.
I won't say why or how, but in NYC I was around 1PP for many of GM's days as NYPD DC for Ops.
We had a police delegation in from the Netherlands, and GM was tapped to give them a short presentation/speech/q&a on the 2nd floor press deck. He talks up CompStat, and policing in NYC, then takes questions.
FIRST QUESTION - mind you, from a visitor from a foreign country - "(Deputy)Commissioner, what can you say about the 4th Amemndment, 'Terry' stops, and stop and frisk?"
Sound of crickets for about 10 seconds, then a rambling, and at times high-handed talk about gun control and the right to bear arms. 4th Amendment, search-&-seizure, it all went right over his head.
You could see the Netherlands cops STRAINING to see how he was going to bring it around to answering their question...
If we had a real news media, they'd point out that a vast majority of other states have shall-issue concealed carry, and by and large things go just fine, as long as responsible people act responsibly and professional cops act professionally.
None of the dire predictions have ever come true -- why isn't this ever thrown back in the faces of the liberal machine cogs that regurge the same tired arguments?

What it is is an 18,000-unit condo development going up on former USS South Works land. No eagle nests there, for some reason. Going to be pouring cement there for the next FIFTY YEARS!

The cook county treasurer says on her web site that the people of Chicago owe on average about $86,000 to pay the county debt. Maybe they're getting ready to collect on that?
They'll just demand your share through a massive property tax increase all at once??
Oh what's that? Even though your home is bought and paid for you can't afford to pay your $86,000 share of the debt.
Sad day for you. Fine, we'll just take your property thank you very much.
And if the county don't have you in the trick bag how about the state with their $200 billion dollar debt load?
Well a large portion of that is pension debt so they'll just grab that pension money and call it pension reform.
But we're not done yet.
Now we can move up to the Federal debt level of $16 trillion dollars. If the county didn't get your real estate holdings the Fed's will grab it with ever increasing taxes when the crisis get's big enough to use.
No guns..so what ya gonna do if the government turns into tyranny??

Obama is asking for another debt ceiling raise and the crisis gets larger.
This entire economy is a sham.
Take all those trillions of dollars that the government is borrowing and spending and tell me where the growth is going to come from? Where will they get that kind of money to replace what the government is spending to keep the economy status quo?
They stop borrowing and the entire thing crashes. Yet if they don't do it the lenders at some point will do it for them.
We are not working and earning the money to make this economy grow at this level. We are not making things of value. The money is all borrowed like people going out and putting a new car on a charge card. The card gets maxed and you get another card with a higher limit to show your neighbors how well you're wealth is growing. That's what the US is doing.
Is there any wonder they are afraid of people having guns? At some point the bills have to be paid and there's gonna be a lot of unhappy people.

It's a classic line; he's using kindergarten logic to defend the right not to allow concealed carry in Illinois. $10 bucks sounds good, I'll donate all proceeds to the NRA.

First off, he mentioned Treyvon Martin, which is usually an example used by liberals against firearm rights. He just couldn't make a statement without bringing that up. You are wrong Gary. No one really knows the facts of that shooting. No good policeman uses an example that hasn't even been tried yet! You forgot not to drink your own Kool-Aid on that one.
Second, What statement are you making about the police in this city when you remarked how citizens legally carrying could be shot? You are telling the public a few things, let’s analyze:
1. CPD officers are unable to determine when deadly force is necessary (is that a question of police knowledge/training? Or are you trying to say police are monsters or just plain stupid)
2. Do you believe that everyone in the ghetto will carry a gun? I'd be curious how many drug dealers could legally carry in 007, and how many gangbangers would go through the process to carry legally, just to use it once, and then become a suspect. Think real hard how that’s different now, hint; it is.(most of them cant because of their background, which would be higher if YOUR buddies in the county would convict them)
3. Are you trying to force the citizens even more against the police? (We ruin their day with parkers/movers, and according to your friends in the media, we "didn’t have to shoot, the boy was only playing a game"...Well now you just told citizens, "hey, if you carry, the police will shoot you, so hate them more, it will help my cause"!
