Won't Rahm Think of the Children?

  • Two gunmen shot a 14-year-old boy several times Friday night as he stood on his porch, leaving him to die in the front hallway of his Humboldt Park home, authorities said.

The shooting came just hours after a 15-year-old boy was fatally shot in a separate attack in the Little Village neighborhood. Including both homicides, at least six teens were shot since Friday afternoon, according to police.
How many were killed with "assault rifles?"

Zero.

How many with legally owned handguns?

Zero as of this writing.

Yet Rahm and McFlimFlam continue to insist that legal guns and law-abiding citizens are what ails Chicago, and not the culture of death pervading the south and west sides.

How about calling out the entire ghetto community and place the blame squarely where it belongs. Raise your kids right so they don't act like uncivilized animals. That's probably a good starting point.

Sensible legislation: 10 years for a crime with a gun. No good time served, no parole. Teach the bad guys that GUN CRIME will put you away. VERY SIMPLE. Been a Police officer for 17.5 years, never caught a legal gun owner using a gun in a crime yet!
BETTER YET MAKE IT 20 YEARS!

It's because they don't have any answers to the homicide problem, so they throw the libtard gun ban agenda at the public as a solution. Pathetic.

POLICE CAUSE CRIME -- NAACP

"The White House’s anti-gun project has...African-American advocates worrying that increased police security at schools may lead to greater arrests of African-American students.

"Adding police and armed security to schools often means that normal student behavior becomes criminalized," said a Jan. 10 statement from Damon Hewitt, a lawyer at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

Rahm and Co, insist it's about inanimate objects like guns because the don't have the political will to attack the real cause of violent crime: gangs, drugs, poverty and joblessness due to the lack of an adequate Chicago educational system.

Look-Look the problem is over there. Don't look at me!!

McCarthy also outlined five steps that he said would cut down on gun violence and prevent felons and gang members from acquiring guns: banning assault weapons; banning high-capacity magazines; requiring background checks for anyone who buys a gun; mandatory reporting of the sale, transfer, loss or theft of a gun; and mandatory minimum prison sentences for people convicted of illegally possessing a gun.

Somebody at ivory tower, please tell this idiot we already have all those things in Chicago, the problem is the early release program mentioned here day ago....

I. NEW FINDINGS FROM FBI ABOUT COP ATTACKERS & THEIR WEAPONS

New findings on how offenders train with, carry and deploy the weapons they use to attack police officers have emerged in a just-published, 5-year study by the FBI.

Among other things, the data reveal that most would-be cop killers:

--show signs of being armed that officers miss;

--have more experience using deadly force in "street combat" than their intended victims;

--practice with firearms more often and shoot more accurately;

--have no hesitation whatsoever about pulling the trigger. "If you hesitate," one told the study's researchers, "you're dead. You have the instinct or you don't. If you don't, you're in trouble on the street...."

These and other weapons-related findings comprise one chapter in a 180-page research summary called "Violent Encounters: A Study of Felonious Assaults on Our Nation's Law Enforcement Officers." The study is the third in a series of long investigations into fatal and nonfatal attacks on POs by the FBI team of Dr. Anthony Pinizzotto, clinical forensic psychologist, and Ed Davis, criminal investigative instructor, both with the Bureau's Behavioral Science Unit, and Charles Miller III, coordinator of the LEOs Killed and Assaulted program.

"Violent Encounters" also reports in detail on the personal characteristics of attacked officers and their assaulters, the role of perception in life-threatening confrontations, the myths of memory that can hamper OIS investigations, the suicide-by-cop phenomenon, current training issues, and other matters relevant to officer survival. (Force Science News and our strategic partner PoliceOne.com will be reporting on more findings from this landmark study in future transmissions.)

Commenting on the broad-based study, Dr. Bill Lewinski, executive director of the Force Science Research Center at Minnesota State University-Mankato, called it "very challenging and insightful--important work that only a handful of gifted and experienced researchers could accomplish."

From a pool of more than 800 incidents, the researchers selected 40, involving 43 offenders (13 of them admitted gangbangers-drug traffickers) and 50 officers, for in-depth exploration. They visited crime scenes and extensively interviewed surviving officers and attackers alike, most of the latter in prison.

Here are highlights of what they learned about weapon selection, familiarity, transport and use by criminals attempting to murder cops, a small portion of the overall research:

WEAPON CHOICE.

Predominately handguns were used in the assaults on officers and all but one were obtained illegally, usually in street transactions or in thefts. In contrast to media myth, none of the firearms in the study was obtained from gun shows. What was available "was the overriding factor in weapon choice," the report says. Only 1 offender hand-picked a particular gun "because he felt it would do the most damage to a human being."

Researcher Davis, in a presentation and discussion for the International Assn. of Chiefs of Police, noted that none of the attackers interviewed was "hindered by any law--federal, state or local--that has ever been established to prevent gun ownership. They just laughed at gun laws."

So I saw this headline..

"Kansas gun prosecutions ranked 3rd in U.S. in 2012"

...and I thought to myself well surely Chicago Illinois must be number one or number two, since we are the murder capitol of the USA.

NOPE! Not number one this year. Not number one last year.

By ROXANA HEGEMAN

The U.S. attorney’s office in Kansas has filed so many firearms cases that the state ranked third last year among the 93 judicial districts nationwide in the numbers of gun prosecutions, Justice Department figures show.

Only Puerto Rico and the Western District of Texas had more federal gun prosecutions than Kansas in the fiscal year ending September 2012. Kansas was first in the nation in gun prosecutions in 2011, but fell to third place in 2012 despite prosecutors filing even more cases.

U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom credits the growing number of gun prosecutions in the state to his office urging local law enforcement agencies to refer to federal prosecutors cases of convicted felons who are unlawfully in possession of firearms – even when they do not have enough evidence to pursue other state charges.

Grissom told the Wichita Pachyderm Club on Friday that he told the local agencies, “If they are felons and you can pull them over and they are armed, give them to us and we will cut them out of your community. You can have a huge impact on the crime rate.”

So why Rahm and Garry with all the violence in this city are we not number one in gun prosecutions?

Little old state of Kansas with a population of 2.87 million, about the same size as Chicago, beat us.

Why Rahm and Gary do we need more laws?

Maybe Rahm and Garry we are not using the system and enforcing the laws that we already have Rahm and Gary?

The entire Liberal Communist Democrat anti-gun rant is a scam. Our Democratic "leaders" don't want us thinking about losing our jobs, our homes, and no hope for the future. The Dems were more than happy to have this event happen in Connecticut. As our beloved mayor often has said..."Don't let a crisis go to waste".

I am up late watching a documentary on channel 11 about prohibition. Shows the stupidity and corruption that took place.

If the goverment created a law back then, but was unwilling to federally fund it with man power and ill trained officers, how in the holy hell are they planning on paying for the enforcement of anti-gun legislation! The fed and especially this state have NO Money according to our fearless leaders.

The gun market is already booming. There are not many (or are in limited supply) guns left in almost any gun shop within 30 miles of the city. People will get what they want no matter what, and gangs and black market will be more than happy to provide it TAX FREE and at a higher price. You think it is the wild west around here now, just wait.

This report is for 2011 and counter-intuitive isn't it?

"Weapons Prosecutions Decline To Lowest Level in a Decade (2011)"

The latest available data from the Justice Department show that during January 2011 the government reported 484 new weapons prosecutions. This is the lowest level to which federal weapons prosecutions have fallen since January 2001, when they were 445 at the time President George W. Bush assumed office. The comparisons of the number of defendants charged with weapons-related offenses are based on case-by-case information obtained by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) under the Freedom of Information Act from the Executive Office for United States Attorneys (see Table 1).

When monthly 2011 prosecutions of this type are compared with those of the same period in the previous year, the number of filings was down 7.9 percent, and down 28.8 percent from levels reported in 2006.

****

Top and Bottom Ranked Districts

So far during the first four months of FY 2011 there have been a total of 2,260 federal criminal weapons prosecutions filed by federal prosecutors. On average, this translates into over 7 prosecutions for each million individuals in the country.,,,

The state with the highest rate of federal prosecutions relative to its population was the Southern District of Alabama (Mobile) with four and a half times the rate of prosecutions compared with the average in the country. New Mexico (Albuquerque), the Southern District of Georgia (Savannah), the Western District of Tennessee (Memphis), and Wyoming (Cheyenne) round out the top five.

None of the districts with the largest cities in the country make the top 10. In contrast, those districts ranking in the bottom tier contain a number of large metropolitan areas. These include the Northern District of Illinois (Chicago) ranked 80th, the Central District of California (Los Angeles) ranked 83rd, the Northern District of Georgia (Atlanta) ranked 85th, Massachusetts (Boston) ranked 86th, and the Northern District of California (San Francisco) ranked 87th.

"Yet Rahm and McFlimFlam continue to insist that legal guns and law-abiding citizens are what ails Chicago, and not the culture of death pervading the south and west sides."

**********

And speaking of McPanderer, did you read any of the highlights from his panel discussion with Jackass Sr. and others at Rainbow Push HQ?

"I say Trayvon Martin,” McCarthy continued. “Because the answer to guns is not more guns, and just simply putting guns in people’s hands is going to lead to more tragedy.”

Hey asshole, Trayvon Martin didn't have a gun, nor did he need one to almost end a man's life. In that scenario, the answer to having one's head repeatedly bashed into concrete WAS a gun. In that instance, the tragedy was averted...thanks to a GUN.

And...

McCarthy also criticized the politicization of the debate over gun control in the wake of the Newtown massacre at an elementary school last month. Those debating the future of gun laws should be able to find a “middle-of-the-road solution,” he said.

He criticized the "politicization" of the debate, yet actively and passionately engaged in an identical approach. All while on the home turf of one of the biggest police-hating, extortionist wannabe-politicians known to man.

If pandering to the savages at Sabina's about "government-sponsored racism" wasn't bad enough, we now have the [Dick]head of the CPD supporting the decimation of the 2nd Amendment. McPuppet fell in lockstep with Rahm's "Never Let A Crisis Go To Waste" agenda with a quickness.

The blatant disregard this superintendent of police shows towards honoring his oath of office is hard to wrap your head around. This oath taken to uphold the law of the land and the Constitution, not pick it apart to sate the enemies of the state.

But I guess that's somewhere in fine print on the contract when you sell your soul to the Chicago Machine.

Fuck you, Garry. Your departure from this once-proud organization can't come quick enough.

This is the bigest lie and misconception ever. There may be only one out of the 500 plus homicides in chicago from an "assalult weapon" and none by legal handgun owners. In my 17 years of service I have never recovered a weapon that was purchased legally. All the weapons recovered are bought on the streets and usually stolen. The person arrested is always involved in "thugery" and denies knowing anything about the gun. Any new laws will again be ignored by criminals and hurt the rights of people who live an honest life. Some time back I recall seeing billboards touting a law that said felons caught using/carrying? guns would be subject to FEDERAL prosecution and ,if convicted, would be doing federal time (100% and away from Illinois).

Whatever happened to that law/initiative? Is it still on the books? If so, why isn't it being used in current efforts to end the gun violence? Or is it like so many others.....like the Velez Law for enhanced penalties, passed to make everyone "feel good" but not used.

5 steps to eliminating gun violence in Chicago:

1. Eliminate all public housing and Section 8 in Chicago.

2. Turn off Obama phone access within the city limits.

3. Establish welfare food stores with plenty of cheese. No more EBT cards.

4. Bulldoze all abandoned ghetto property.

5. Create a law that allows investors to purchase ghetto properties in high crime areas (all of Englewood) at fair market value. Level it and then build country clubs on that land.

Peace restored. Sorry suburbs!

7,400 Guns seized in Chicago in 2012.

Some questions for Supt. McCarthy.

Of these 7,400 guns, how many we're seized as a direct result of an arrest?

Of the arrested, how many were actually prosecuted?

Of those that were prosecuted, how many received jail time?

What was the longest jail sentence issued?

How many of those arrested were repeat offenders

Does the total of 7,400 guns seized include this weapons that were turned in a an exchange for a gift card?

Does the total of 7,400 guns include those that were voluntarily turned in, or that were turned in as found property?

Sir, of these 7,400 guns, how many were in the possession of a convicted felon?

How many of these guns were in the possession of some one with no criminal record?

How many of these guns were registered in the City of Chicago?

Were any of these guns part of a legitimate collectors collection, and the the sole reason for their seizure was do to the now unconstitutional City Of Chicago Gun Registration Ordinance.

Would you know how and where to look for this information yourself, without assigning it to an exempt flunky?

If less that half of those arrested did not receive any jail time, then the problem is not having enough gun laws, it's the inability of a a broken corrupt Cook County Judicial System, and what if anything do you intend to do about that?

OT-What's the deal with the W/C on afternoons in 006 telling roll call to ask for an additional car or two rather than calling for a 10-1? Pretty sure that we are capable of making a judgment call on whether or not we need an additional assist unit or if we need a 10-1. They're seldom called, so if we call for one, we need it and don't need a watch commander to question our judgement. WE are going home safe. Screw everything else, because in this climate, the ONLY thing that matters is going home safe. He needs to go back to an inside position on the north side because he isn't cut out for a busy place like 006. Just make sure you have your shoes shined and a beat tag at check off at the end of the night... One of the best places to work on the south side is bar none, the absolute WORST place to work now. Way to go sending what little morale that was left right down the toilet. Oh, and to the screwball sgt who left mids to go to afternoons, since when is coming in with 2 contact cards an offense which calls for a counseling?? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. How about covering the pipe before laying it? Or getting on the pill? Or both? Either solution, or both, are a lot easier than child-rearing, but neither solution is part of the mentality because when they do not have to personally pay for the cure, preventive measures are disregarded.

Tiny only concern is what can he exploit out of it if he was so concerned he would be jumping the parents and schools
but that would meaning alienating his voter base remember parents are not accountable for their kids in Tiny's eyes everyone else is
remember the free walgreen cards if they would just pick up a report card? you have to bribe them to show a little inst rest in their kids welfare? to alot of parents a kid is just an anchor or a meal ticket till chicago gets a handle on gangs and the parents on;y then will we see progress

I know you may be thinking more of forcible felonies, but I assure you McCarthy is not -- he brought his "mandatory sentencing for illegal firearms possession" s__t here from New York for us.

You know in your bones how it will shake down -- someone will get sent up for a rusty heirloom, while Pook run wild in the street.

That is the idea here.

You notice how McCarthy hanging at PUSH HQ again? When he first got here, I think he went straight from the airport to St. Sabina's to get "legitimacy" from Pfleger before he'd even seen his new Superintendent's office.

Go through Ill. Compiled right now and you will see enough severe, interlocking laws to put any problem away for a real long time -- if SAO wanted to!

Anyway, they are more reliable and of higher quality than you used to find. The shitbags used to be happy with any old .32 with a broken sear, had to shoot it by letting the hammer slip out from under your thumb! or typically a die-cast zinc RG .22 revolver, just a "starter's pistol" really.

Then the anti-gunners came in to help, and they made things more dangerous with the "melt point" legislation to eliminate "Saturday Night Specials." So now Vendetta is on the steps holdin a .40 in the paper bag with that Steel Reserve.

2-year-old is buried amid wails and cries of 'Why?'

John Simerman, NOLA.com|The Times-Picayune updated December 24, 2011 at 8:13 AM

"A mother wailed and a grandmother wept Friday as the cover of a short, padded casket closed over Keira "Pooh Bear" Holmes, who would have turned 2 on Thursday but for a stray bullet that snatched her life this week outside the B.W. Cooper public housing complex. At a funeral marked by the presence of two New Orleans mayors, Keira's body lay front and center, flower petals strewn around her head.

"She wore a long dress, a jeweled earring and pink and tan ribbons in her hair. More than 200 mourners came to pay their respects during a ceremony at the Abundant Life Tabernacle on Franklin Ave.

"No one mentioned the gunshot that ripped through her tiny body on Sunday during what police say was an attack on 19-year-old Emmett Allen.

"Police have implicated four men in the shooting, one of whom was killed Monday."

Count all those aborted babies as unwanted and perhaps you can see what would happen if 300,000 more unwanted children filled our society, adding to the jail population, link card usage, and violent crimes. Check the jails and mental institutions and you'll see plenty of unwanted children...

The argument about outlawing guns is a scam. Very little will change. What the argument does is it distracts the media and everyone else from the real problems. Look for the city and state to 'tax' each gun owner at the rate of about one thousand dollars for each gun owned, annually. If you doubt this, remember no one thought you could be fined ninety bucks for each photo taken when you were late on a red light,
.

"If Rahm was serious about reducing crime then he would do something about the people who commit most of the crimes."

Prosecuting & incarcerating offenders is expensive (more cops, overtime, court time jailing expenses, etc.), but making a law makes it appear that he's doing something about the problem and it's cheaper in the short run.

I say short run because after the costs of defending an unconstitutional law before the Supreme Court are factored in, it's more costly in the long run.

Someone else here brought up the possibility that the administration's (both Emanuel AND Obama) focus on the gun issue is to distract voters from the economic issues. I'm beginning to agree.

OFF TOPIC:

A Hyde Park man accused of spitting in the face of a Secret Service agent guarding President Barack Obama’s Chicago home last month was ordered held on $50,000 bond Sunday.

The agent was inside a car stationed on the 5000 block of South Greenwood Avenue on Dec. 29 when Kevin Lawrence approached the vehicle, according to police records.

Lawrence spit inside the car, hitting the agent’s face and neck, police records state.

Lawrence, 46, of the 5200 block of South Harper Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery of a peace officer.

A non-felonious citizen that does not register his/her guns may have them confiscated by the Chicago gun nazis. And then they can brag about how many guns they "took off the street."

They are talking about taking guns from everybody who obtains them lawfully, cops included. Wake up UNION MEMBERS, you never see anything on the website about these things at all, join the NRA and ISRA, you will be told the truth. Thank you

Keep seeing comments about Rahm being a socialist. Nothing could be further from the truth. He is an elitist who thinks the average person is a serf to be controlled and lied to. If he thought for one moment he would have to pay his fair share ( socialism) so someone else would benefit- he would laugh about it. The total US Government is now about controlling us.

1/13/2013 08:26:00 PM

what do you think actual socialism is?

here's a clue: what it ain't is anything remotely resembling the dictionary definition.

ditto for 'communism'.

Sensible legislation: 10 years for a crime with a gun. No good time served, no parole. Teach the bad guys that GUN CRIME will put you away. VERY SIMPLE. Been a Police officer for 17.5 years, never caught a legal gun owner using a gun in a crime yet!

They would have to build more prisons for that. But hey, I guess that creates jobs too!

The article says that the 14-year-old was out on his front porch at 11:50 pm (that is, just about midnight) when the shooting happened. Am I the only one wondering what he was doing out that late, especially in a lousy neighborhood?

1/13/2013 04:04:00 AM

Oh, please! He was not running the streets. He was sitting on the front porch of the house where he lived with his father and step-mother and both of them were home. If he had been in the living room and been shot through a frame wall, you would want to know why he wasn't in bed! Get real.

1/13/2013 11:46:00 AM

Plus, it was a Friday night. No school the next day. He was minding his own business on his own porch and, by all accounts, he was a good kid with involved parents. Some pos took his life.

I support CCW. The only problem with Brown's or any other chain store is that most if not all prohibit their employees from CCW.

They want to avoid lawsuits.

In their eyes, their employees are expendable.

Sorry, but the above poster is correct. Whether this was a weeknight or weekend, 15 year old kids do not belong on front porches at midnight. WTF is their parent doing allowing this? Any decent parent would tell them to get their ass inside the house and hang out or better yet get their ass to bed. Oh, sorry I forgot, no parental discipline because they are too busy smoking blunts or sucking down 40 ouncers or out partying somewhere....

1/13/2013 05:52:00 PM

The kid shot on the porch did not have gang ties. Has decent parents. No no interaction with police, so could be mistaken identity. He was on the porch talking on his cell. His dad had just told him to come in when the shooting happened.

BTW, this isn't a "lousy neighborhood." Lots of newer houses. Many current and retired cops live within blocks. Some pretty high ranking ones, too.

I have to agree with this lady. There have been at least two studies that linked the drop in crime to the ease of obtaining abortions. Black women have a higher abortion rate then white women. When the studies were published a lot of people got their noses out of joint and called the researchers/professor a lot of names. However, as this point no one has been able to come up with facts to dispute those studies. Yes, there are a lot of unwanted kids in this country and a lot of abused and neglected children. People just do not want to pay more taxes and they dont care and there are no places to put these kids, orphanages just do not exist.

It is a made-up crime and has no effect on street crime.

1/13/2013 11:40:00 PM

Actually, it does.

1. It discourages the honest citizen from being armed on the public way, thus increasing the confidence of the thugs in the likelihood of their being safe to engage in their thug ways; ie., robbery, rape, random battery, etc., on the public way.

2. It discourages the honest citizen from keeping arms within their home, thus increasing the confidence of the thugs in the likelihood of their being safe to engage in their burglary, home invasion, vandalism, extortion, etc., within their victim's home.

3. It discourages the honest citizen from keeping arms within their place of business or place of employment, thus increasing the confidence of the thugs in the likelihood of their being safe to engage in their armed robbery, rape, battery, etc., within their victim's place of business or place of employment.

4. It enables the thugs to successfully intimidate the discouraged-from-being-armed honest citizen, thus increasing the thugs confidence in not only being safe to commit their various thug criminal acts, but to also suffer no consequences from doing so.

5. It turns every honest citizen who chooses to arm themselves, in spite of the law, into a potential source of lucrative income for the various individuals who profit from said honest citizen's being hooked into the system.

6. It reinforces the indoctrination of said honest citizens into placid acceptance of the 'rule of law', sans any actual adherence to the Constitution and Bill of Rights, thus further enabling the various thugs to impose their thuggery upon said honest citizens, with impunity.

7. Thugs come in all shapes, sizes, apparel and gender. Some are elected to public office. Many cover their thug natures by adopting the outer appearance of the honest citizen, while others revel in their thug mentality, choosing to appear on the outside exactly as they are on the inside.

The one thing they have in common is their sincere disregard for the values enumerated in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

Then when you refer to it in a case report and you are asked about the acronym, you can just say, "Cause of Death".

Rahm and Co, insist it's about inanimate objects like guns because the don't have the political will to attack the real cause of violent crime: gangs, drugs, poverty and joblessness due to the lack of an adequate Chicago educational system.

Look-Look the problem is over there. Don't look at me!!

1/13/2013 12:38:00 AM

You mean lack of an adequate parenting system. That used to comprise a father and mother who were married to each other.

What ails the most problematic neighborhoods of Chicago is not lack of gun control or drugs or education or lack of cohesive two parent households or all the other problems quoted so often, Those are symptoms.

The real problem is and has always been poverty. The rest just comes from that. It isn't even race but that is a convenient scapegoat.

Poverty.

Find a way to cure that, poverty, and do it effectively and not by handing out payouts and LINK cards and SNAP cards and rent subsidies and the rest and watch everything else fall into line. Oh there might be one or two other things but poverty is the biggie.

As a young man I recall that Lake Street going west from Halsted to almost Central was one unbroken string of light and medium industry. Factories and warehouses and welding shops and machine shops and specialty machine tool shops and bicycle factories and roller skate factories and faucet factories and candy factories.

All these places were full of people who went there to work and earn a living to feed their families.

Put those places back and see what happens.
