And Another "Duh!" Moment!

Someone must have delayed the latest shipment of kool-aid. That must be the only reason the Tribune actually published this article:
  • The reputed gang member accused of gunning down 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton last month was on the street even though he had been arrested three times in connection with break-ins and trespassing while on probation for a weapons conviction in recent months, the Tribune has learned.

In two of those arrests, including one just 2 1/2 months ago, Cook County probation officials failed to notify prosecutors or the judge that Michael Ward had been arrested on the new misdemeanor charges and allegedly violated his probation.

The head of the county's probation department acknowledged Monday that his office fell short in its responsibilities and vowed to find out what went wrong.

"There should have been a violation filed, but for some reason there was not," said Jesus Reyes, director of the Cook County Adult Probation Department. "Absolutely, we will investigate."
As Longfellow Deeds once said, "Bu-bu-bu-bullshit."

We have written who knows how many posts about people who should have been behind bars for years according to simple math, yet they are out shooting and killing at an astounding rate.  Our comment sections are littered with posts about shooters, killers, rapists and burglars who are free, doing the same old thing. Any working copper has a firsthand story about calling IDOC or Adult Probation for a parole violation and being given a name and a refusal for the report. It's endemic.

But now that someone killed an actual honor student from the ghetto, someone with a decent future and real potential, an uncomfortable spotlight is being shined on the joke that is Cook County "justice" and Illinois' woeful lack of real prison time for real crime, all in the name of catering to the steadily democratic voting underclass.

Jesus Reyes - welcome to Scapesgoat-ville. Population - YOU.

I'm still of the opinion that this cannot be blamed on ineptitude, but rather that the gangs, which make hundreds of millions of dollars every year on drug sales, are paying off the Cook County "justice" staff.

What's this Bullsh%#!

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has forged an agreement with the union representing Chicago Police sergeants on contract and pension issues that threatens to undermine the costlier demands that the Fraternal Order of Police has made on behalf of rank-and-file officers.

Jim Ade, president of the Chicago Police Sergeants Association, announced the surprise agreement in a weekend e-mail to his members without specifying the terms.

City Hall sources confirmed that an agreement with the sergeants has been reached that includes a modest annual pay raise in the 2 percent range — far short of the 12 percent over two years that the FOP has demanded.

The agreement also includes pension reform.

“It’s proof that, when unions and management sit down and look at the reality of the situation, we can come to an agreement,” said a source close to the negotiations.

Ade could not be reached for comment. In his weekend e-mail to the troops, Ade said the contract “addresses the concerns” that his members have communicated in e-mails, phone calls and personal conversations.

Don't they still have to vote on it? If they vote yes on this, it will be one of the biggest sell outs in CPD history. Agreeing to this while we are still in negotiations undermines the whole process. Hope this isn't true, or if it is, the rank and file vote this crap down. This definitely needs it's own thread SCC.

a cook county judge made a comment to the media yesterday which basically sums it all up--- we have to look at the cost to the taxpayers for incarceration of offenders--- so now our judges are also accountants--- we have all heard about a judge on the bench being given a daily number on how many people he can put in custody on any particular day--- we have all sat through probable cause hearings where these guys walk out of court with a smile on their face and they are guilty as shit--- now a bright young life was snuffed out by a thug who has repeatedly violated his probation and was not remanded into custody--- the finger pointing is just beginning but this is business as usual in our county kangaroo court....

I'm not talking about your ounce of weed or crack/cocaine i'm talking about cases where theres been 4 to 10 lbs...of weed or plus or large amounts of cocaine cases as well. Listen no case of this magnitude should get a bench trial or should not get tossed at pc court. It sounds fishy to us when these good cases never make it to a jury trial because the obvious behind the scenes scams have occured and shithead walks away with a smile. Remember many of the gun cases occur because of the dope game and everyone is out to take another out for that particular spot. Stop giving us bullshit excuses why cases get drop in court. Just be forward an tell me that this particular firm contributes thousands to your particular position. Dont give me some bullshit excuse that po's did not have pc!

We lock of offenders everyday for offenses (misd and felony). You call to see if they are going to violate him and issue a parole violation and 95% of the time, the answer is NO. As for probation, seems like "everybody" is on probation these days because if you're LUCKY enough to have a Cook County Judge find somebody guilty, then end up getting sentence to probation or boot camp, no jail time. Then they go out and continue doing more crimes because they arent behind bars. If they get caught on a new charge (Misd or Felony), the courts simply slap them on the hand. Open your eyes people. You want to know the truth, talk to any working Chicago Cop! I welcome the idea of interested people sitting in the court room watching what happens. Shit, sit in the prelim courts and see what doesnt even get past the probable cause hearings. You'll be sickened for sure.

HIGHLAND  •  Debi Keeney says she last fired her gun 15 years ago, when she took shooting lessons.

The gun was a gift from a friend but it mostly stayed in a side-table drawer, she said, gathering dust. Then, early Sunday morning, Keeney pulled the trigger again — this time, she said, to save her sister’s life.

“I’m very grateful that it fired this morning,” she said Sunday afternoon.

Keeney, 55, said a man forced his way into her apartment in Highland, threw her to the floor and then put her sister, Donna Carlyle, 47, in a choke hold. He demanded money as Carlyle gasped for air.

“All I could see was Donna’s face going blue, like her life was being choked out of her,” said Keeney.

The alleged intruder, 33, was being treated at a hospital Sunday for two gunshot wounds and was listed in critical condition, police said. They have not released his name.

The incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Eagle Way in Highland. Keeney and Carlyle live next door to each other. Carlyle was visiting her sister’s apartment when the assault happened.

Highland Police Chief Terry Bell said Sunday that the man was shot twice and that police were still “piecing it together.” He added that he had no information to believe the man knew the women. Police for now are keeping the gun as evidence.

Keeney said she thought she only shot the man once with her gun, which she described as a five-shot, .22-caliber derringer. The first bullet she fired, she said, was supposed to be a warning shot.

Keeney also said neither she nor her sister knew the intruder.

“I have no idea where he came from or where he was going,” she said.

She had a clue something was wrong on Friday night, she said, when someone was heard going through the complex jiggling door knobs. She took the gun out from the drawer that night and laid it on top of the side table.

On Sunday afternoon, Keeney expressed some remorse but also pointed out that she felt she had no choice but to use the gun.

“I wish I hadn’t shot him,” she said. “I gave him an opportunity to leave. I wish he had left without me having to shoot him. ... I hate the idea that I had to pull that trigger.”

Still, she added, “Put in the same situation, I would do it again.”

***

Keeney says she was attacked after stepping outside her apartment to smoke a cigarette.

“As I was closing the door behind me, this really big man pushed his way through the door,” she recalled. “I started pushing back. ... He put one arm behind my arm and picked me up and threw me over my couch.”

The man then went behind a recliner, where her sister was sitting, and put Carlyle in a choke hold.

“He had her trapped like a rat,” Keeney said.

Carlyle said she was trying to dial 911 with a cellphone in her left hand while fighting for air with her right hand.

“When he was yanking me up, my feet were in the air,” Carlyle said. “It hurt so bad. I couldn’t lean forward. I could feel the air closing off. I couldn’t breathe at all.”

Keeney said she grabbed the gun — the side table is near the apartment door — and warned the man to let her sister go. He was demanding money, but Keeney said she and her sister both have multiple health problems and support themselves with disability benefits.

“We both were saying we don’t have any money,” she said. “If we would have had any money, we would have given it to him.”

Keeney says she then fired what she thought was a warning shot.

“I told him, ‘I’m going to shoot you if you don’t let her go,’ “ she recalled. “With that, I shot him in the back because he moved from behind the chair. He let her go. He took some steps toward me.”

The man fell to the floor, and Keeney stood over him, waiting for police to arrive.

“I was scared to death that he was going to kill my sister,” she said. “It was dark. He was a huge man, and it was 3-something in the morning.”

That same apparatus is hell bent on seeing the last of the sore, grievously injured, wholly outnumbered and (illegitimately) defenseless middle-class tax payers run down on the streets and cannibalized by the armed forces of the Catered to Constituency, to whom this city has been given over to in it's entirety.

Enjoying much your indentured servitude?

Heh... Rahm and Sparkle-Farts wants your flat out slavery.

The real proof will be in who volunteers to get on the "Freight Trains to Nowhere" and who fights.

Rahm is betting his position and ill-gotten $18 million will spare him the indignity of both having to fight alongside the little people and being pushed onto the train.

Yes... He is a soulless and damp reptilian.

Remember the final but righteous comeuppance of "Papa Doc" Duvalier... 'Nuff said.

Merciful God only knows what they have in store for the Thinnest Blue Line ever tasked with trying to hold the line in the face of daunting odds, non-sensical, conflicting, insane and damn near suicidal orders, demands and directives that fly in the face of common sense and survival.

The powers that be depend on The Policeman's personal and career peril to make themselves seem so important and irreplaceable while The Policeman is wholly dispensible and not worthy of a second thought.

We say again... The Policeman didn't break "it."

It's way beyond the power of The Policeman to fix "it."

If The Police COULD fix "it," the powers would demand The Policeman have one hand tied firmly behind his back to prevent him from fixing "it" too good...

And Another "Duh!" Moment from the Sgt's Ass.

These guys just sold all of labor in Illinois down the river. From now on the PAPB stands for a scab union.

2/12/2013 12:43:00 PM

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Your wrong. The term scab is used for someone who crosses a picket line.

The papb did a lot more harm then any scab could do. They just screwed EVERY retiree in the State of Illinois and every union who is trying to protect their member’s benefits that were already earned.

The mayor and governor will use this sellout as a blue print to cut every union member in the state off at the knees.

Let’s watch and see if the family members of union bosses of pabb now get city contracts, promotions, or if they (the board of papb) get other government jobs after retiring from Chicago.

I'm still of the opinion that this cannot be blamed on ineptitude, but rather that the gangs, which make hundreds of millions of dollars every year on drug sales, are paying off the Cook County "justice" staff.

Do Operations Greylord or Silver Shovel ring a bell?

2/12/2013 06:51:00 AM<<<

I recently had a conversation with a U.S. Attorney who was involved in Operation Graylord. I asked him how or why did they stop?

He replied, "We were told to because we had to leave some judges in place."

"But now that someone killed an actual honor student...someone with a decent future and real potential..." -- SCC

It is human nature to seek starting points from which processes will flow logically to some sensible end point.

Often, though, all we see are lines drawn in the sand -- and redrawn a foot farther back the next day, and the next...

Someone shot two weeks ago? There are probably people still in the morgue who were shot a year ago.

I will speak simply of observable phenomena, and will not even presume to apologize here "for fear of disrespecting someone."

Speak of "respect" to the ones with the knit caps pulled down over their eyes, running wild through the park, holding up their pants with one hand and banging off a gun with the other.

Speak of "respect" to the ones with the gold braid on their uniform caps, wandering through the park with a bottle of whiskey in one hand and banging off a gun with the other.

All that we are seeing today is a subsidized-and-encouraged continuum of destructiveness and idiocy. Culture Of Death. Follow the money.

"Wa-HOO-ah!

"They are ah TERRORISTahs inna MAH COMMUNITEE!" the briliantined, heavily-berobed charlatan roars into his microphone.

"We ain't gonna take it no mo," the crowd with its pathetic T-shirts and signs and bullhorns responds, dutifully circling the block again.

Grinning children throw up gang signs at the TV cameras.

From somewhere in the next block, an unseen tumult. Shouts, running feet, glass breaking...

...then POP POP POP.

As I say, a continuum.

Reminds me of the old Narcotics Branch at 26 and Cal when "Let Em Go Leo" was on the bench. Used to toss all cases if not enough weight for his liking. It wouldn't matter if it was a SEARCH INCIDENT TO ARREST. NPC if not enough weight. After hearing that BS so many times, I regretfully let him get to me. I spouted off to the ASA that if you wanna toss this BS, NOLLE it on your side! Quit putting coppers up there to testify a case that clearly should have "PC" just to hear the usual "No Probable Cause" and then have to listen to the mutts in the room do their jungle snickering. I got threatened with contempt on that one. Just left and laughed as I filled out my OT slip! KA-CHING!

*****************

I'm retired now too but was a sometimes desk Sgt just a couple years ago. YES the criminal history goes with the court papers. We were to review all of these documents for any possible additional charges, one of which would be a VOP. Then call the county, then get told no.

Riddle me this: VOP is a criminal offense right? Wy the fuck do we have to call and ask if it will be considered for prosecution? It should be automatic. I posed the question then and was told "that's the way it is".

Someone ought to run that response past Hadiya Pendleton's parents.

I was just wondering how much money the P.A.P.B. has in their legal defense fund. They will be a plaintiff in any pension bills that pass to “diminish” any retiree pension. Every union in the state will be on the right of the judge and P.A.P.B. and Rahm will be on the judge’s left side. I talked to a couple of retried Sergeant’s today who are in Arizona and they used to be part of the Sergeant’s Ass. They knew nothing of this and feel like they were thrown under the bus by the this because their own union did this to them not the City.

Just as I always tell everyone, we do our part. We lock up the bad people. They go to jail and wait for court. The States Attorney's plea bargain, the judges sometimes let them off easy, the parole board let's them out early, and the Governor gives the early release.

But everyone always looks for us to stop crime. stopping crime is a partnership. We work very hard every day and keep up our end. I just wish everyone eles would do there's and there would be a lot less crime and victims.

Letting habitual criminals out with the public. Is like letting the wolf into the hen house. They don't have chance.

Just a thought! But what do I know, I just handle the garbage!

1st gun case: 410 expungible probation. 2nd gun case: plea or finding of guilty: 2yrs (really 30-60 days idoc) or boot camp to get swole & be able to do 200 push-ups, preparing for your next encounter with po-po. 3rd gun case: UUW by Felon, plea or finding of guilty: 4yrs(really 1yr and conditional release with ankle bracelet). 4th gun case: plea or finding of guilty: 6yrs(2 at the most, with your stay at county taking up 1 of those 2 yrs). This is if you're unlucky & no judge acquits you or grants the motion to suppress the gun because the officer makes a mistake because any mistake on the stand means he's lying of course. Each time you get to run buck while police clean up the carnage. This is how it's been in my 15yrs as a patrolman testifying at 26th st, Bridgeview, & Skokie. Don't forget any not guilty or motion granted means a trip to Corp. Counsel for the lawsuit & the review of all your cr numbers which show an obvious pattern of abuse.
