Officer Home Invaded - Breaks Hand

  •  A 19-year-old man is accused of breaking into the home of an off-duty Chicago Police officer who was sleeping Thursday morning in the Wicker Park neighborhood, police said.

The officer injured his hand during the scuffle but no shots were fired, police said.

Elraheem Wilkins, of the 1500 block of North Rockwell Street, was charged with residential burglary, aggravated battery to police, resisting arrest and home invasion, all of which are felonies, police said. Bond court information was not immediately available.
The hand ended up broken, but the burglar should be counting his lucky stars.

Get well soon Officer.

Good ending and I am glad that the officer will be ok. A broken hand is not that bad.

But I would not have minded if you would have shot that piece of crap a few times and killed him. It would be no tragic event if he would have wound up dead and there was a weapon in his hand.

Enjoy your IOD off time and say a prayer you didn't get hurt.

I hope you're joking. That is so unsafe, but I know that the gun handling skills and knowledge of the average CPD officer is lacking. If it's true, try getting a holster for the side of the bed. Check the NRA store.

The Fourth Amendment no longer means what you once thought it did: A new report reveals that the government has shrugged off concerns over the alleged constitutional infringements of its own citizens near international crossings.

An internal review of the US Department of Homeland Security’s procedures regarding the suspicionless search-and-seizure of phones and laptops near the nation’s border has reaffirmed the agency’s ability to bypass Fourth Amendment-protected rights [.pdf].

And people snicker because we keep a couple of pistols and reloads stashed at either end of the house plus the "surprises" in the safe which is bolted to the floor and kept LOCKED behind a STEEL door in the basement...

Chicago is destroyed beyond care or salvage.

Too many people in positions of influence wanting to destroy Policemen and the very idea of Policing in this city.

Which is why you see more "Take-Over" home invasions and armed robberies than ever before because the armed wing of the catered to constituency has evolved to where they have NO FEAR OF GOD, UPRIGHT MAN, OR THE LAW!

When a greater urban dooky-bird (regardless of stripe or persuasion) comes in your house like this, he has indicated that he is not only prepared to kill but prepared to die as well.

Please try your best to accomodate them in the latter to avoid the former.

These critters are EMBOLDENED because they see municipal governance as pursuing a policy of shrinking Police presence out of political spite while propping up the premise of false economy "in the name of the tax-payer" who is actually left to the not so tender mercies of the greater urban dooky-bird.

It begs the question... WHO is actually the crazy one in all of this?

SCC / NEW TOPIC!!!

Sergeant's Union settles contract!

Will be brought to the Board for a vote Tuesday!

There has been some sort of agreement on the pension!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Sergeants,

We have recently completed the negotiation phase in securing a new collective bargaining agreement. The agreement addresses the concerns brought to the contract committee by the membership through the contract survey, as well as the many emails, phone calls, and conversations we’ve had with many of you.

We believe this to be an excellent agreement that gives each of us a modest raise without forfeiting any of the important benefits gained through previous contracts. These negotiations not only addressed the collective bargaining agreement, but also forged a collective comprehensive plan to ensure that each of us would receive the pensions that we worked so hard for.

There were many difficult issues that were addressed in putting this pension plan together, but the end result is a guaranteed pension for our membership. I would like to thank our attorney, Tom Pleines, and Paul Bilotta and Glenn White for working tirelessly to secure this deal.

I would also like to thank the City of Chicago representatives for being open to our ideas and working with us, not against us, in developing this entire arrangement.

Very soon you will be getting the opportunity to ratify this agreement. Please take the time to review the changes and vote as this will affect all 1125 of us as well as future sergeants.
The changes to our current contract and the pension deal will be presented after the Board of Directors gets an opportunity to vote on sending the agreement out to you. Our special board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at which time the agreement will be presented.

You may hear about this agreement in the press and other outlets. This information may not be totally accurate. Please wait until you receive the information from us until you begin deciphering the agreement. As soon as the Board votes on this, the details will be emailed to all of you. Thank you for your patience in the process.

Used to be it was considered "fun" by some to pull a fire box alarm on the street and harass the CFD when they showed up.

I remember as a kid watching this unfold one (1960s)day at North and Ogden. But the little darlings got more than they expected when 2 CFD trucks arrived on the scene.

Many fled south towards Cabrini Green screaming for their mamas with bloody mouths and knots on their thick little noggins.

Kinda funny how some images stick in your mind after all these years.

Rest In Peace Sgt Spagnola. In a district full of good Sgts, you stood out. There was nothing you wouldn't do for your guys. Great supervisor. Great man. I'm better for having known you. God bless 1170.

O.T....this afternoon on Zone 2 a 10-1 comes out. Turns out an ambulance and engine are fighting with a man, possibly high on cocaine and PCP. While the zone is dispatching the 10-1 some handjob, I believe possibly a sgt, chimes in that fire can't call a 10-1 and that no one better be speeding to the scene. I thought my ears were hearing things. I axed my partner and sgt and they said they heard the same thing. Unbelievable! We are all on the front line and when they call we come and when we call they come. One day you might need their assistance office.

What The Fuc! If it happened during 2nd watch, I have no doubt who that Sgt was. Douche!

Great job, officer. Don't pay attention to all these comments about how you should've killed this scumbag. If you needed to, you would have. Trust me, I've had to justifiably shoot and kill before and there have been times that i could have justifiably killed and did not. It is a decision that only you will make and only you will deal with afterwards. These comments are likely coming from people who have never been put in that situation before. It's not as easy of a decision as these comments are portraying. I'm just glad you and your family are safe.

Well said.

The idiot commentors sound like the same guys that always say they want to be where the action is. But never bid there. Hey guys, we've got spots in 015. Plenty of action here.

I have my German Shepherd who acts as my early warning & burglary deterrence system at my home. If they're still stupid enough to come inside then the game is on.
And people laugh at me because I sleep with a gun under my pillow!

My Pit sleeps on floor at foot of my bed, first line of defense, and gun, on nightstand just on side of bed... Under pillow is just not safe at all and not worth the risk... Handled paper years ago where gun accidently discharged when guy grabbed trigger by mistake, fortunately, no one was hurt

I don't sleep. I just sit up all night with my gun pointed at my door.

A tidbit of evidence that racism walks on both sides of the fence. Don't know if she took the check or not.

Special order says otherwise! Must have been a "merit" sargeant.

Chalkie please go elsewhere with your posts. You're boring as hell and not funny nor clever. Please go away

Hell may be many things, but boring ain't one of them.

For example, I presume you've never scorned a woman.

No, SCC, the POS should have counting his teeth as he picked them up off of the floor. Glad the officer only sustained what I hope is a minor injury.
