Lost Gun

  • Firearms owners in suburban Cook County will face fines up to $2,000 if they don't report to police when their guns are lost, stolen or sold, under an ordinance county commissioners approved Tuesday.

The plan, pushed by County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, will apply to all areas of the county where a similar law is not already on the books. It will not apply within the city of Chicago, which has its own firearms statutes.

Ostensibly to curtail "straw" purchases, the law would be used against people who don't report guns stolen or lost within 48 hours. As most decently crafted firearms are worth a few hundred dollars at the very least, we don't see why legit people wouldn't report a gun stolen. And it doesn't apply in Chicago itself, just the surrounding burbs.

So then why is RD# HW-155254 on file?

What is this mysterious Records Division number you ask? Why, that would be an Aldercreature from the 24th Ward reporting a lost pistol....a pistol he last saw 19 years ago.

Yes, we're serious. There's even an AdminFax out on it (#207597). Nineteen years ago, this gun went "missing" and Michael Chandler, who won and lost and won a seat back again in the city council is just getting around to reporting it now?

How many anti-gun initiatives has Chandler introduced, co-sponsored or voted in favor of while representing the west side, yet here he is with at least one gun, which he hasn't kept track of for over 19 years? More hypocrisy from Chicago's anti-gun crowd?

Hey media, we're giving you this one for free.

it's no one's business if someone loses something, or it's stolen and they choose not to report it.

why?

- insurance. they choose not to file a claim. reporting it makes the data avail to insurers (if not now, then when they get legislators to create a law requiring their notification)

- databases - backdoor version of registration

- privacy - not protected against foia requests... if you had something and lost it or it got stolen, maybe you got another - ready to be stolen!

- law wont do a fucken thing to stop straw purchases/sales. you think a straw purchaser is going to give a shit about the law? "what u talkin about dawg? itz gone.. sheet. i hadz no idea. guess it'z a good thang u be here to takez a report on dat fo me... thanx mutherfucker..."

So how does the county prove when a gun was stolen, unless the county is stealing the gun?

Many people have guns in the attic/basement, who knows where, that they never touch. The guns are not checked daily.

So asshole Aldercreature Michael Chandler just now magically remembers that his Roscoe grew legs back around 1994?

Nineteen years elapse and never once in that time did it occur to him that it might be kinda important to document a missing firearm? A firearm ostensibly gone missing from his residence in the 011th District ghetto? An area, which at that time, was plagued by the violence associated with the crack cocaine epidemic.

It's not like much effort would've been required to file a timely Lost Property report - Chandlers bother was a sergeant in 011 at the time.

Well I guess it's not like he needs to fear being embarrassed, ostracized or voted out of office by his constituency (its the whole Birds Of A Feather Phenomenon), so the obvious motivator here is $$$.

This morally exempt and conscience-challenged piece of shit only went thru the motions because there is now a price tag attached for inaction. And he waited until the last possible minute to comply, as evidenced by the report being made the very same day Crook County passed the law.

Do we know if this weapon was even registered to Chandler? If so, did he provide the registration at the time of the report? Knowing the probable answers to my hypothetical questions, I'd give my left nut and a months salary to have forensics link that pistol to a murder or three. Preferably in or near the 24th Ward.

This revelation begs the question: What does Garry McGovernmentSponsoredRacism have to say about all this? I'll bet his big fucking mouth is sewn shut per Rahm's orders regarding this monumental blunder. Ain't that right, jagoff?

*** And for you media whores monitoring this site: Chandlers home address is on SOUTH Kedvale, not north as listed in the AdminFax message that I'm sure you losers already have a copy of. If unable to locate him at his residence for comment regarding this most egregious faux pas, try checking his aldermanic office located at 1158 S. Keeler.

This is an attempt to discourage and prevent gun owners from claiming that their registered weapons have been lost or stolen when the confiscation begins.
You will basically have 3 options.
1. Surrender the firearm.
2. Provide documentation of the sale or transfer of the firearm and name the transferee so they can add him/her to their database.
3. Claim that the firearm was lost or stolen and pay the $2000 penalty.

I read in the Crook County ordinance that if a resident wants to give a firearm to a relative or friend as a gift, (for example: Pass down firearms to the gun owner's children), that the firearm owner will first have to register with Crook County Sheriff to complete Crook County Firearm Transfer forms or be in violation and subject to a large fine.

Hey Stoopid, it is the duty and responsibility for what's supposed to be productive, adult members of society to know the whereabouts of something as important as a firearm. One might say it's part and parcel of being an elected official, going hand-in-hand with being representative of an area particularly vulnerable to gun violence.

You know about important stuff like that, right? Like remembering to pay the homeowners insurance policy on time or taking the kids for their immunizations. Or remembering to turn off the stove before you leave the house. A reasonable person would think knowing the location of his firearm falls somewhere high on that list.

I read the report and I can say with 99% certainty that the type of gun he "lost" would be one someone would carry daily for self protection. You know...like alderscum are allowed to do. The make and model of the weapon in question is also very telling when making the assumption that he probably carried it regularly and would have immediately known of its absence (sorry media, no free bone here).

At the very least, one can see Chandler having this gun within his reach inside his home given the fact he lives in a cesspool of an area. To suddenly realize its missing and now time to report it 19 years after the fact - and on the day a new law took effect - is more than coincidence, Asshat.

*** He only now did what he had to do because he's worried about potential fallout given the current political climate towards handguns. ***

If a police officer or civilian pulled the same stunt you can bet there'd be hell to pay. While known to be bottom feeding vermin, even an Aldercreature should realize that (in theory) they're held to a higher standard than the average Joe. Especially when it comes to something as serious as a missing gun. But alas, the only standard here is the double standard. And as always, it's particularly prevalent when it comes to politicians and their many gaffes.

Your weak-assed arguments in defending this idiot makes me pray you're not on the job, son. It's pathetic to see someone defend part of the problem that makes our job that much more difficult.

No matter how many times some older officers have told some of the new one's to take it easy; they never listen. This is a different police department. If someone wants to micro-inspect all of your actions then they will find something wrong if they choose to. But go ahead, I am just plain dumb and stupid. This law won't change anything. 48 hours? Straw purchasers aren't scared of this. They still have 48 hours to smoke weed and multiply until they have to report it. If a gun owner reports their firearm stolen more than 2 or 3 times, I think that person doesn't deserve to get more. They obviously can't get their shit straight. With the inflated prices if guns and ammo, I doubt anyone is jumping to strae purchase a burner. Be safe all!

Milwaukee Sheriff..

Sheriff Warns Of “Second American Revolution” If Gun Grabbers Get Their Way

Milwaukee County law enforcer urged his citizens to arm themselves

Steve Watson
Infowars.com
Feb 19, 2013

A Milwaukee County Sheriff has warned that a second American Revolution may be sparked if unconstitutional gun laws are enforced by police and sheriff’s department officials.

Sheriff David Clarke recently urged the citizens he serves to consider learning firearm safety because of “a duty to protect yourself and your family.”

In a message posted on the Sheriff’s website, Clarke wrote “I need you in the game, but are you ready? With officers laid-off and furloughed, simply calling 9-1-1 and waiting is no longer your best option. You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back; but are you prepared?”

“Consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. We’re partners now. Can I count on you?” the message urged.

Speaking on the Alex Jones Show yesterday, the Sheriff hit home his opinions on the gun control proposals that are being pushed via presidential executive orders.

“First of all, to me that would be an act of tyranny. So the people in Milwaukee County do not have to worry about me enforcing some sort of order that goes out and collects everybody’s handgun, or rifles, or any kind of firearm and makes them turn them in.” Clarke said.

“The reason is I don’t want to get shot, because I believe that if somebody tried to enforce something of that magnitude, you would see the second coming of an American Revolution, the likes of which would make the first revolution pale by comparison.” the Sheriff urged.

Attention the Sgt's Union is at it again. Many Sgt's are reporting receiving their ballots and then following the instructions verbatim.

Specifically to vote place an x to either accept or reject most are reject, place into blue envelope seal it, print name sign again to verify we don't want any shenanigans...Place this envelope into the larger white POSTAGE PAID envelope addressed to the PBPA and return via US Mail.

Just a few comments.

Why not be able to vote in person and not risk the US mail system in losing the letter and,
Oh Yeah the envelope is NOT I repeat is NOT postage paid.............

Anyone else see a problem with this error. If you follow the instructions your vote will never reach its destination. I am sure this is just a slight oversight not a deviously dishonorable calculated plan by our "Honorable Board". Is rigging elections a federal crime ??

Another comment the PBPA has to have this pass. Why you ask? Because arbitration is a costly undertaking and having been scammed by a good ole boy from the current regime. With a wink and a nod from the current board who was on vigilant watch during this criminal activity. But that's another topic.

Who will we have auditing this election and counting of the votes. I recommend a neutral party for instance some retired Sgt's who would give up some of their personal time to help in keeping this vote counting transparent. I am sure we could find some who would assist us.

WOW its just one thing after another with this cabal.

"President Sparklefarts" & Rahm want a Revolution, so they'll have the domestic crisis of crisises by which they can implement the totalitarian nanny-state rule they envision.

They will move quick to shove there Leftist agenda down the throats of mainstream America; all the while claiming a mandate at the ballot box.

Reagan won by 16-17 million votes with 53 percent of Americans voting.

That's a fucking mandate, not the 5 million and 4 million vote margin of Clinton & Obama, keeping in mind the 140% of registered voters who voted liberally in some Democrat precints, and keep in mind that 4 million less voters voted in 2012 then in 2008.

For Obama, that's barely a margin of victory, if any at all.

They'll over reach, tho. They always do.

Has America become so pussified and devoid of the character, moral fortitude and true capitalism that made it the greatest nation for the greatest number of people in the history of the world that these suckholes can fundamentally change America in to what socialism-for-the-rich-&-capitilsm-for-the-rest-of-us crony-capitalists, and the the Left have been trying to turn the USA in to for the last thirtysomething years? Too big to fail. Too big to manage. Too big to procecute.

65 million more guns have now been sold, since Obama has been elected.

While there are a lot of stupid and/or on the take people out there like NBC's David Gregory et.al., there are a lot of people who love the American Constitution. We're still a silent majority and we still cling to our religion/s, guns and pre-1969 principles.

Bring it on sooner rather then later, for the children.

I would say the only reason that gun would be reported after nineteen years maybe now it has been recovered/and most likely it was used in shooting/homicide. So for him to do that just a political move. But if it was one of us we would be looking at time/maybe termination.

For all of those idiots who are out there generating a lot of activity and arrests all of a sudden a shit head claims you lied. Then IPRA looks into the matter and they see "a pattern" (simply because multiple shit heads filed the same complaint) and now they are out to get you. Here's a link to the IllinoisCarry.com site, in which you'll find links to witness slips for the 'right to carry' and other firearm related bills. Instructions on how to fill them out are also included, to take all the guess-work out of completing the slips.

I hope as many of the SCC readers will take advantage of these and let their voices be heard! Thank you.

from a citizen troll: About 19 years ago some shitbag stole my .38 Charter Arms snubby among some other less important things. The first thing I did was walked into the desk at 015 and reported the theft with a serial number for the gun and my purchase receipt in hand. I only cared about getting the thing reported as hot and it makes me sick to think that some asshat has my gun. The thing was a piece of crap and the cylinder fell lose on the ejector rod when you opened it but it still shot and was still a dangerous weapon. Guns should be reported stolen, that is part of common sense gun laws I can agree with. The other thing is I too heard your boss on the radio Sunday and find it ironic that the police superintendent in one of the politically most corrupt cities in the most corrupt state refers to NRA members like me as contributing to corruption because I contribute money to the NRA. I think you Garry are a political hack and a jagoff. So you keep kissing the ass of the Rahms and the Madigans who incidently take money from unionized labor in furtherance of the special favors they get from the corrupt political class resulting in public corruption. The kind of corruption that allows 1800 so called low risk offenders Quinn let out of jail early and burglarize homes, knock the teeth out of women on the street who do not let them bum cigarettes and continue their criminal activity like stealing my shitty gun.

""Hey Stoopid, it is the duty and responsibility for what's supposed to be productive, adult members of society to know the whereabouts of something as important as a firearm. One might say it's part and parcel of being an elected official, going hand-in-hand with being representative of an area particularly vulnerable to gun violence.""
/snip

So I report it stolen. Is the gun automatically not going to work because I reported it stolen? Are you going out looking for it? Does it appear on our (yuk yuk) Hot Sheet? How many guns recovered come back 'clear, not registered'? I'll be willing to bet most.

As far as I'm concerned, the only reason to report it is that if it is registered in the first place, so they won't come looking for you if someone comes up dead. But I'd bet you'd be interviewed anyway.

Whether I report it missing or register it, (or don't) if it gets into the wrong hands, it has the potential to be misused, so why bother? My paperwork is not going to stop someone from committing a crime with a stolen gun.

If I lose my Glock 23, report it lost, then find it. Do I need to report that I found it?

2/19/2013 10:07:00 AM

No...according to your superintendent, you do a firearms turn on a Lost/Found and inventory it. If you remember the CB# of your last arrest, or if that doesn't exist, you use the CB# of your next arrest. Don't feel pressured to do so, you have 19 years from the day you find it.

whats this rumor that the new recruits cant buy their own guns because of the major shortage in all the gun stores in and around Chicago and the academy has to supply them with what little loaners they have in their inventory. I tried buying 9mm ammo the other day. 2 stores were completely out of them and the 3rd store I went to wanted a ridiculous $29 for a box of only 25qty.

2/19/2013 04:02:00 PM
Not sure about recruits failing to purchase needed weapons, but I can tell you that there is a big shortage of handguns and rifles and ammo of all types in the Northern Illinois area. Currently, you have to order a handgun and I was told up to six months wait for the popular models. Mail order ammo stores are out of just about everything. No center fire rifles of any type on the store shelves. People have gone nuts with this.

How does the county or city know you have a firearm to begin with? How many of the 10s of 1,000s of firearms in this area are registered and known to officials? Maybe 2-3%?

Preckwinkle is talking about a county wide weapons registration law. It could happen. Dont forget the county passed their own " assault weapons" ban two years ago and did nto grandfather in current owners. This law is still tied up in the courts. Preckwinkle is on record for ending all civilian ownership of any firearms as is Obama ( when he was Illinois senator ). Do not trust either of them. If the national emergency comes , such as cyber war, you will need your firarms.
