Police Shooting in 011

  • A 23-year-old man was shot by police and a police officer was injured during an investigation of drug sales in the Humboldt Park neighborhood this morning, officials said.

  • The incident began when a Chicago police vehicle with four tactical officers pulled up to the 3900 block of West Chicago Avenue to a known drug sales area, said Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Patrick Camden.

According to Chicago Police Department News Affairs [...], the officers observed a "hand-to-hand exchange" of what they believed to be narcotics involving the wounded man and a group of four or five others.

After the police vehicle pulled up to the men, one of the men fled from the area to an adjacent vacant lot with an officer pursuing on foot, Camden [...] said. At that time, a squad car was called in to assist, Camden said.

As police were closing in on the suspect, the man ran into a parking lot and jumped into a van, locked the door and refused to get out, said Camden ...

The police vehicle was maneuvered to block the van, preventing it from leaving the lot, Mirabelli said, but the suspect was able to move it backward and forward. The suspect began to do that -- "dangerous, erratic behavior" Mirabelli called it -- moving the vehicle in the direction of an officer who was between the van and the front bumper of the squad car blocking the lot.

At that point, the officer jumped on the hood of the van to avoid getting hit as the man continued to drive, Camden said. As the van continued moving, the officer's leg got caught between the van and the grill of the police vehicle, Camden said.

At that point, the officer believed the man was going to keep driving and fired his gun three times into the van, said Camden
It appears that the assailant will live to face charges.

Channel 7 continues their nonsense reporting with a headline that reads, "Officer Shoots, Injures Fleeing Man," giving the impression that the Department shoots people running away instead of the officer leaping onto the front end of a car that ended up pinning him against another squad car.

Best wishes to the injured Officer for a speedy recovery.

Why not, "Police Shoot, Injure Fleeing SUSPECT?" One word. A world of difference. A garbage man could write a better headline.

Or how about "Police Shoot, Injure Fleeing Assailant?"

hey, cus, did you get tired of hunting gators?

i thought you'd at least wait to mosey up north until springtime.

i must admit, though, i could use an extra pair of reliable hands, as it's going to get really busy, really soon.

i hope you're still as throwed off as i remember.

Sometimes we lose sight of the determination and courage of our fellow officers. Just think about it; how many people in or out of law enforcement have the courage to jump on the hood of a vehicle under the control of a suspect/felon? And this is every day in "Da Hood". No script, no second chance to do it again; this is the kind of shit hollywood writers and producers dream about. Yet it is the every day world of Real Chicago Cops! God Bless everyone of you and thank God we have you men and women on our side. And Fuck You to the politicians who think you work for them; YOU work for us.

Look at the front cover of the current issue of the magazine National Review. A photo of Chicago with bullet holes thru it. No joke. Just more terrible publicity for a once great city. Thank corruption, Daley, Madigan's and a judicial system that returns felons to the streets way to soon. Chicago is dying. Like the hour hand on a clock it is difficult to observe the death movement of

"Channel 7 continues their nonsense reporting with a headline that reads, "Officer Shoots, Injures Fleeing Man," giving the impression that the Department shoots people running away instead of the officer leaping onto the front end of a car that ended up pinning him against another squad car."

Use of a vehicle as a weapon against the police has become routine. Bring back the shotguns.

Remember the writeup on a shooting in which an off-duty officer with his kids in the car had suddenly to defend himself against an armed robber who began firing? "Officer Brings Children To Gunfight," something along those lines.

...and not the first time on that, either.

Don't talk to these people. They can get their details from that bunch that came down off the porch. "He a good boy, po-lice shot him in the back for no reason," etc.

Maybe contact can be cut down to a "no street response" level "to save money." A press statement can be downloaded from the city web site. There.

The have time to put some unbelievable rev on the air, though, singing the praises of JJJr to the skies.

"WHOO-AAA! They a gonna pursue you, but uh keep fightin'!"

    "Thas right!"

"They a gonna persecute you, but uh keep fightin'!"

    "Yeah!"

"YEE-OW! It the truth. They a gonna PROSECUTE you, but uh keep fightin'!"

    "Uh huh!"

"This just a bump in the road!"

No, it isn't. It is the road, for so many. Condescend to allow yourself to be boosted into place like a trade show display on a hydraulic lift -- some unearthly mechanism that is going to make you far more than equal to others, no matter that you are a piece of crap -- and then jet around drinking and buying fur capes and Rolexes and sowing the wild oats until they finally catch you.

William Arimony of United Way, Bernard Madoff, Rita Crundwell, JJJr, Sandi, Blago...

So what did Dr. Gary Slutkin do with the million dollars the city gave his "CeaseFire?"

It is obvious that Hillary is the new annnointed one. She can do no wrong. The lapdog media is helping by trashing Rahm's chances, bleating about the killings in Chicago.

I call total BS! This would be ruled unconstitutional even in a corrupt court. So, with that thinking, anyone that has a certain amount of assets of anything should also be have their pension cut. Why stop at deferred comp.? How about property, savings accounts, inheritance, business, etc. etc. Being financially sound shouldn't be punished. I know democrats like to punish wealth, but the above idea is silly.

Somewhat off topic: Now these officers and all of us in police work can be schooled by Tactical Barbie who has just announced that she will, as an associate editor of Law & Order Magazine, be writing a montly column about police work. This shows how far we have fallen in credibility for police instruction.

Yea, I'll be sure to read that. Maybe the first one will be on how to handle a shotgun or AR 15 Saw her on the TV show and couldnt believe it. She was in the policy group and leader of the WTA

This market thrives among populations with the mean attention span of a housefly.

Just because one smokes is no reason to exercise the planning and foresight necessary to obtain a package of cigarettes.

...and still not one smoker will obtain and carry his own matches or lighter. His need of a light is and remains an intractable public problem involving the time and effort of the 3700 people per hour who try to walk by that spot.

Beg for change to buy a cigarette, bother and bother and bother to obtain a light, then immediately begin begging for change for the next cigarette.

The day goes by like this...

She hardly worked the steet in her 8 years. The majoriety of time she was a house mouse. Someone should check her arrest history box 1 and 2. That will tell the story. She's lying to everyone hoping they will not do their homework.

You know, I'm pretty sure that most of these savages that are asking for bullshit are simply using an excuse to approach and assess if you're a good victim or not. Which is why I always tell them to FOAD. S/F

It is obvious that Hillary is the new annnointed one. She can do no wrong. The lapdog media is helping by trashing Rahm's chances, bleating about the killings in Chicago.

Not even a VP spot for Rahm. We are stuck with him.

Seriously? Who would vote for that old bag????

    2/17/2013 08:12:00 PM
