Conflict of Interest Par for Chicago

  • Illinois' highest court made it clear Thursday that when push comes to shove, City Hall's top corruption buster answers to the very mayor he's supposed to keep watch over.

The state Supreme Court issued a unanimous ruling that Inspector General Joseph Ferguson cannot independently go to court to enforce a subpoena for documents from the mayor's administration.

Instead, he must ask the corporation counsel, the city's top lawyer who reports directly to the mayor, to enforce those subpoenas. If the lawyer refuses, the dispute must be settled by the mayor.

"With today's ruling, the public and the City Council should now know that the inspector general has access only to the records and materials the mayor and his corporation counsel wish to make available, when they decide to make them available," Ferguson said in a statement.
Time to resign Joe. Every check you cash from here on out is a piece of your soul sold to the Chicago Machine. And some aldercreature ought to make a proposal defunding the IG office.

Guess who the two-faced rat-bastard was who cut off the IG's balls?
  • [Ferguson] noted that in December 2010, when Rahm Emanuel was in the early stages of his campaign, he stood alongside former Inspector General David Hoffman and said "any efforts to block the inspector general from getting information will not be tolerated."

Instead, Emanuel and his corporation counsel, Stephen Patton, fought the case to limit subpoena enforcement all the way to the Supreme Court, after an appellate court concluded Ferguson did have the authority to enforce subpoenas.

Oh Rahm, you sly devil.

The majority of their investigations are severly flawed. They play favorites with many of the politically connected. Worst of all, City workers watching City workers.

It's high time for a Water Bottle Party. Just like the Founding Fathers did with the tea, we need to do with the taxed water bottles.

It's really gotten that bad. A petty little tyrant runs this city like it was a banana republic. Shameful.

Rahm, like most politicians, will tell you what you want to hear when running for election. Once elected though their true colors always come through.

And who is it that sits on the Illinois Supreme Court? And who is it that we will have to go to for justice when the city/Rahm tries to deny us our pensions? And who is it that will interpret the phrase "shall not diminish" when it comes to our pensions?
This decision is proof that the Illinois Supreme Court is bought and paid for by the Democraptic Party of Crook County.

Very good job of exposing the Rahmunist for being the bald-face liar that he is.

Not a LEO, just a lawyer.

I was a supporter of Rahm, but not now. He is s typical member of the political class. His promises during the campaign have proved too much of a burden for him . Now I believe what others have said that Daley backed Rahm for the job . Can't we have a real reformer in this office?

Just a thought....since Emmanuel likes to use the media to paint us in a bad light, how nice would it be if the FOP could rent billboard space with this very message overlooking expressways. One specifically welcoming travelers to Ohare and Midway come to mind. Fuck a gentleman's agreement when it comes to dealing with this POS, wanna-be, midget, socialist tyrant. Sic semper tyrannis. That's how I would like my dues monies to be spent.

One big problem with Illinois politics is voter apathy.

Rahm was elected by approximately 20 percent of the regostered voters: only 40 percent of registered voters went to the polls, and 50 percent of them voted for rahm.

I hope they take this to the HIGHEST court in the land.

afterall, how many of the Illinois Supreme Court owe their jobs to the Democratic autocracy? Alderman Burke's wife is one who comes to mind.

This ounds like the 1930's tactics of the National Socialist Party of Germany. Next, tey will demonize the opposition (Oh they did that already) Then they will ban private ownership of weapons (doing that) then they will buy weapons and ammo for their side(Homland Security did that last month) Then the camps...

Was Burke's wife one of the justices on the Supreme Court?

Yes, you get the picture here. Criminals are running this state and hide behind the law that they put in place to fuck you.

Revolution is in the air.

Listen, I think the ruling sucks, but you guys better wake up. The IG hates the Chicago Police. He will fuck us any chance he gets. Why do you think he wants those powers. He is prohibited from investigating alderman, what kind of subpoena powers are needed to investigate some chump leaving early are stealing gas, salt etc.... Wake up.

BING-MUTHAFUCKIN'-GO!

FINALLY!

Somebody catches on to what we've been yelling about regarding Rahm al Ghoul's slim-assed election.

Ever a devotee to shit-assery, this maladjusted, twisted and malignant manling claimed a "mandate."

Mandate?

This maniac WON because 60% of the voters stayed HOME (Fuck you very much to the 60%-ers and you know who you all are) and claimed a MANDATE because he barely won a SIMPLE-ASSED MAJORITY over one viable candidate and a handful of dumbocrat shills plugged in to siphon off votes...

Chicago is getting exactly what it deserves.

The land of the low information voter who feels no pain while everyone else is getting their brown door-bell rung by Rahm for the sake of sheer spite and animus.
