Elephant Shot in Drive-By
- JACKSON, Mississippi (Reuters) - An elephant in the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus was injured in a drive-by shooting in Mississippi on Tuesday and police were searching for suspects in the attack, law enforcement and circus officials said.
The Asian elephant was resting in an enclosure outside the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo when it was hit in the shoulder area with a shot fired from a passing vehicle, said arena spokesman Kevan Kirkpatrick.
The circus is in Tupelo for several shows that are due to start at the arena on Thursday.
Circus staff attended to the elephant until a local veterinarian arrived, Kirkpatrick said. He said it is expected to make a full recovery.
Ridiculous.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey have issued a statement denying involvement of the elephant in any gangs and specifically declared the elephant did NOT belong to the Insane Elephant Disciples or the Latin Pachyderm Morons.
The spokesman declared that the elephant has turned his life around long ago, is no longer on parole and is only 3 years away from earning his coveted GED diploma.
Elephant momma, who is a long time employee of Cirque Du Soleil of Las Vegas, Nevada, declared that her baby is a good elephant and has got nothing to do wif' no gangs.

The elephant told the Detectives he heard a shot and felt pain. No further description.

If this happened in Chicago, we would set up on the elephants at the zoo to prevent a retaliatory shooting.

I was near Jackson Mississippi last week. While I was there, a mope disarmed a detective in a police station and killed him. The offender was also shot and killed by police. Now, the locals shoot an elephant several days later. Bottom line: Avoid Jackson Mississippi at all costs. What a shithole.
