Political Donation

CapitolFax.com, a blog about Illinois politics, had an interesting article up Friday about fundraising by Governor "Potato-Head" Quinn:
  • With a late-March surge of fund-raising, Gov. Pat Quinn’s campaign chest amassed more than $550,000 in the first three months of 2013, narrowing the substantial lead in funds of potential 2014 Democratic gubernatorial challenger Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

  • And despite dire predictions from the commentariat about how Quinn was alienating organized labor, unions were among his largest contributors…
Get a load of these contributors to Governor Quinn last quarter:
  • * SEIU Illinois Council PAC Fund: $25,000
    * Painters Dist. Council #14: $17,600
    * Illinois Laborers’ Legislative Committee: $15,000.00
    * I.U.O.E Local 150 Federal Political Action Committee: $10,500.00
    * Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois PAC Fund: $10,000.00
    * Teamsters Local Union No. 727: $20,000.00
    * Chicago Fire Fighters Union Local 2: $7,500.00
    * Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters PAC: $5,000.00
    * IBEW Local 701 Politcal Action Committee: $5,000.00
    * Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 149 COPE: $5,000.00
    * Teamster Local 330 PAC Fund: $5,000.00
    * Teamsters Local Union No. 26: $5,000.00
    * Teamsters Local Union No. 627: $5,000.00
    * Teamsters Local Union No. 700: $5,000.00
    * Teamsters Local Union No. 731: $5,000.00
    * Teamsters Local Union No. 916: $5,000.00
    * Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7: $3,000.00
    * Construction and General Laborers’ District Council of Chicago and Vicin: $2,600.00
    * Local No.150 - I. U. O. E. Local Area PAC: $2,600.00
    * United Transportation Union PAC: $2,500.00
    * Cook County Teachers Union: $1,000.00
    * Sheet Metal Workers’ Int. Assn. Local Union No. 73: $1,000.00
Interesting. The FOP gave Quinn $3,000 and the Firefighters gave $7,500 and our pensions are anything but secure or funded properly for that matter.  And what exactly have we gotten in return?  We're just curious.

Why are we giving any of these politicians one dime of our money? Unless they come out and say "I'm fighting for your pension" and the best interests of our union, I'd tell them all to fuck off. I say let them know why we WON'T be contributing and/or endorsing them. Didn't we endorse Mikd Madigan last election? Why? Fuck 'em all.

SECRETS FROM CITY HALL

SCC, please make this a separate thread so all of your readers may view this

The Mayor has selected the figure of $30.00 per hr for police overtime and directed his minions to make sure this is not pensionable. Other trade unions in the city get double time for their overtime
BUT NOTHING FOR POLICE/FIRE.

The Mayor ordered Supt McCarthy to publicly state the CPD can handle safe passage regarding the closing of 54 schools. Yet secretly CPS will shortly be accepting bids from an additional 35 vendors to work safe passage in these areas. These vendors will have contracts of about $500,000.00 each and will be doled out to pre selected community activists groups and reverends (to insure their silence over the escalating violence). The selected groups have been contacted and told to form their companies and get their proposals ready for the next school year. There are ALREADY about 30 of these vendors currently doing this for other schools BUT NOTHING FOR POLICE/FIRE.

There are 181 school days in Chicago yet CPS doles out about 200 million a year for school bus transportation. That is over 1 million a day for buses that are never full. These clout heavy companies all have certain sponsors soliciting the Hall on their behalf. Like the one on 103rd that gets huge money from their CPS contract and just happens to supply free chauffeur driven Escalades to Rev Jesse Jackson. BUT NOTHING FOR POLICE/FIRE.

Emmanuel is 100 more times political than his predecessor.

Many of his key people he imported is a slap in the Face to Chicagoans as he feels the Chicagoans who voted for him are not qualified for these jobs:

Tim Cawley CPS COO lives in Winnetka and Emmanuel personally gave him an exemption from residency.
Cawley is Emmanuels patronage guy at CPS and has brought in many individuals loyal to Emmanuel and pays them Chief salaries. This pay grade has exploded since Cawley is there, he just creates positions.
BUT NOTHING FOR POLICE/FIRE.

Garry McCarthy from New Jersey brought along 2 retired sergeants from new york as his stooges and pays them Chiefs salary. BUT NOTHING FOR POLICE/FIRE.

Tracy Laedner, CPD personnel chief is married to James Bebley who is Chief Counsel for CPS. BUT NOTHING FOR POLICE/FIRE.

Spokesperson Mellisa Stratton worked on Hillary Clinton's campaign. BUT NOTHING FOR POLICE/FIRE.

The best for last, Chicago has hundreds of Not For Profits and many of them recieve tax payer funds to operate. Do you know the CEO of the Museum of Science & Industry has an annual salary of 1.3 million dollars. Do you think he is a scientist, physicist or perhaps a learned professor from industry?
Nope his name is David R. Mosena and his claim to fame is he was once the Chief of staff for Mayor Daley. Oh by the way, the treasurer at this same museum just happens to be David Vitale, President of the school board and an investment banker with close ties to charter schools that he and Tim Cawley operated.

BUT NOTHING FOR POLICE/FIRE.

Check out the characters involved in the gambling expansion (or lack of) and it becomes crystal clear why this governor has NOT signed the gambling bill. Owner of Rivers has given Quinn a ton of money and so has a Pritzker who is rumored to have ownership in Elgin casino... But Quinn wants to ban all political donations to anybody involved with gambling... After he steals his millions!

Damn right our pensions are anything but secure and the appearance of throwing our money down a fucking political rat hole to some of the very same people looking to leave us marooned isn't very reassuring.

NO ASSURANCES WHATSOEVER FROM ANYONE REGARDING THE MAKING WHOLE OF OUR PENSION?

Then why the fuck are they "allegedly" getting contributions from us?

Too much "hidden hand" bullshit has been going on.

Or is it just Rahm having fun by having a check cut for Quinn in FOP's name?

Hmmm... Not illegal as long as the check doesn't bounce?

Or perhaps a handful of bullshit West Side money orders?

Heh... Let's see the cancelled check muthafuckahs!

Then the membership can opt to act/not act accordingly...

Stranger shit HAS happened.

He will take your guns and ammunition, your Social Security and Medicare BUT NOT MEDICAID FOR PARASITE ILLEGAL OR LINK CARD KINGS AND QUEENS.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THIS:

Relax!

$3,000 comes out to about what a single copper would've gotten for retroactive pay for the first year once our contract gets settled.

And if my math is correct, one copper out of a "budgeted strength" of 13,500 = only .00007407% of a single copper getting screwed. No biggie.

Besides, 10 days of VRI will put us back in the black. Don't get your panties in a bunch over nothing!

"And what exactly have we gotten in return? We're just curious."

Don't fret, SCC. Haven't ya heard? 20% of gaming revenue profits from the Casino Of The Future will be earmarked for shoring-up our pensions. A casino that Quinn has to OK. Starting to see what time it is? These are wheels that need to be greased.

Kinda - but not exactly like - how all that Illinois lottery money goes towards schools and education. Don't believe me? Why, just check the Illinois Lottery website for insightful statistics such as:

"By law, profits from all regular Lottery games are deposited into the state's Common School Fund supporting kindergarten through 12th grade public education as well as the Capital Projects Fund. Illinois students and schoolrooms receive nearly $623 million per year in Lottery revenue - about 9.6% of the state's annual contribution to K-12 education."

Now please try to wrap your head around the 'fact' that CLOSING 54 schools - because the State is tapped - will actually benefit the children.

Coppers: blissfully unaware Sheeple, content to graze in the Special Employment Pastures and drink from the Kool-Aid Troughs while their financial futures are being led to slaughter by their Democratic shepherds. Distracted by (nod to the B.C.P.) that latest, freshly-twisted ballon figure, fashioned before their very eyes. Expertly crafted by the maniacal clowns of the Circus of Financial Fuckery.

"AND WHAT EXACTLY HAVE WE GOTTEN"?
How about SB 3538?
Signed into law in 2010 by Gov. Quinn. It calls for the City of Chicago to increase funding to Chicago's police and fire pensions to bring them up to a 90% funding level in 30 years begining FY 2015 in exchange for some "reforms" to our future annuitants, if I remember correctly. It was hailed as a breakthrough at the time by labor, the civic Federation and even the anti-union Chicago Tribune.
If Rahm Emanual wants to jam something differant down our throats in springfield, which he is on record as saying that's exactly what he intends to do, Gov. Quinn can veto it.
Perhaps SCC or a commenter could provide a link to the details of SB 3538.

No one can save the governemnt employee pensions as they are now sturctured. No one ! The damage has been done and has been going on for years. The unions went along with this: asking for more and more that was unfunded, going along with plans to defer payments into the funds, going along with plans to give many insiders sweetheart deals. The average worker did not have any knowledge of these inner workings, but the unions did and you can bet that our elected representatives to the pensions certainly did.Now things are going to happen and the workers wont like it. It is either change the pensions or watch them go into insolvency. You are worried about Quinn or madigan fucking you now?

I think the FOP is right to support Quinn.

To me the single biggest decider in my voting is the safety of our pension.

When Quinn ran against Brady I read their responses to pensions. Quinn said he was for defined benefits pension (our type)

Brady said he was not for a defined pension and would work to switch to deferred comp.

If Brady had said like Gov Walker in Wisconsin that first responders keep their benefits and other workers who are not in harm's way get the shaft I would have voted for him.

Pension first, all other considerations second my brothers and sisters.

off topic:
The Chicago PUBLIC Schools used to have a FREE pre-k program/preschool for our kids. Now the city is charging up to $4,000 a year for tuition for a PUBLIC school for pre-k/preschool. It is sliding fee scale. All funding according to a Suntimes article published April, 5, 2013, is going to building an early childhood development center in the Englewood neighborhood.

It is not right for parents to work very hard and be punished for it economically with this new tuiton. Many of us parents are not, "affluent," as the article in the Suntimes stated. Many of us have really sacrificed to have what we have. My husband works really hard...many times with NO days off. We buy nothing for ourselves and give to our children our time and all we can. We do not spend beyond our means. We did not have more children than we can afford by different baby Daddys. To take from our kids and give to another community that does not pay taxes is not acceptable to say the least. Demographically, the neighborhoods with the most TAX PAYING citizens are being financially punished as in our neighborhood. And our chldren are paying for it with poor playground equipment for one while a new childhood center is going up in a community where have the kids don't know who their fathers are and their parent/parents don't pay taxes.
I don't think this new center was necessary. There are many Chicago schools the kids of that neighborhood could have gone to for FREE. More importantly tax payers should not have to pay for other people's children.

I was at a retirement seminar where Mikey was speaking. I asked him why we (FOP) contributed to Madigan's campaign when he didn't have our best interests at heart.

He said that if FOP DIDN'T contribute to Madigan, that we would have to suffer his wrath.

I also told him that Detroit Fire Dept. retirees (my Dad is one) sued the city and won, forcing them to shore up the Detroit retirement funds. Yes, it was a long protracted legal battle, but my Dad is 88 and gets his check every month. Also, the Detroit retirees have never given up a benefit or had their benefits reduced!

My Dad said the retirees contributed to the political campaigns of politicians who had their best interests in mind. I know this is crook county, but come on--we have to contribute to someone who is going to screw us just so maybe, maybe, he doesn't screw us worse?

Mikey said he would look into it. I wonder if he ever did?

What is wrong with this picture I ask you?

Yes he can. And he can quit the job too. Then go out west and if you can get a police job you can enjoy the $35,000 a year you will make. No union so you won't have to stay up late blogging "fuck the FOP." But you might be too busy what with your two or three jobs and all.

Enjoy.

CPD has the power , but you have to have the guts to use it .
Enforce All the City ordinances , traffic violations , Business and Liquor law , after hours , over crowdiing etc and CPD can write their own ticket .
TVB every no license , insurance stay off the air .
It was done in the 70's and it worked with Old Man Daley , CPD didn't have a union but received a$1,000 raise .
Use the tools and enforce the law like you were hired to do .
License investigations on your Beat , go on the air and notify a supervisor as soon as you find any violation , requeat an RD immediate , use radio to document violations . Ain't nothing any boss can do about .

Unions get away with this shit because members don't go to meetings.

For the next FOP meeting, why doesn't everyone talk two people into going with them? Even if 50 people did this, that'd be 100 more people at the next meeting.

I'm going to try to talk 5 people into going with me, even if I have to bribe them with Billy Goat burgers.

Don't worry about that so much! Summer is here so why dont you do a follow up on how many people have actually been sent back to patrol from their inside spots. I was at the academy for training last week and there is a lot of waste of manpower there. McCarthy is still hiding a lot of those dollies from what I Can see. Good luck getting time due this summer when they are all off every Sat and Sun!

Lemme see if I understand this correctly.

The Union backed democrats raped the pension funds of us union city workers to pay every-day expenses.

Sssoo the solution is to pump our hard earned union dues to the same scum-back asshats that raped us?

4/08/2013 10:13:00 AM

Interesting to see who is under the covers doing the unholy God Knows What with whom in the crusty, beshat through to the box springs and reeking City Hall Wedding Bed of Fuckery.

So... Can we finally, henceforward and forever more, have it firmly established that the "problem" in and with Chicago IS NOT the fine men and women of CPD?

Are the decent people of Chicago finally willing and able to accept that?

Or do the lies and misrepresentations of City Hall and local media still hold sway?

What don't you understand? The issue I wrote about was shoring up pensions. Detroit was forced to do it. This has nothing to do with pay cuts. The city was forced to do this YEARS ago. If you go to work for a sinking ship you take your chances.

The point is, DETROIT WAS FORCED TO LIVE UP TO ITS OBLIGATIONS, AND IT TOOK LEGAL ACTION TO FORCE THEM TO DO IT.

You also didn't mention the fact that city workers fought to live out of the city--legal action again.

When are people going to wake up and demand a leader with substance. Use Margarett Thatcher as an example. God Rest Her Soul. Demand and expect more. Turn on your own flashlight and see that these liberal idiots have no substance and only want to keep you in the dark.
