Fighting Fire With Fire

  • The mayor of Memphis said billboards put up by the Memphis Police Association are hurting the city’s image and calls the message, “selfish.”

The police union billboards feature the warning, “DANGER: Enter at your own risk; This city does not support public safety,” MyFoxMemphis.com reported.

Mike Williams, the president of the MPA, said the billboards are meant to target city leaders and are about protecting union’s jobs and benefits.

“I think it’s self-centered, I think it’s selfish,” Memphis Mayor A C Wharton said. “I think it has no place in our city.”
They must be working if the mayor is whining. And the Memphis Police Association seems to have a decent beef:
  • Wharton said Memphis instituted a 4.6 percent pay cut to protect jobs, as opposed to issuing layoffs, but police officers want their pay reinstated and Williams said the signs are just the start of the union’s public campaign.
Step two should be interesting.

Hey SCC I will contribute the first $100.oo for a billboard around Chicago with the same message. Can you? We? set up an anonymous fund for billboards? I think if everyone of your regulars gave 1.00 we could own a few billboards. It is really a great way to humiliate the elite. They really don't like to have their names on bad bill boards. Maybe shaved could help with the design... He seems to have some good ideas and seems to have a good graphic design department.

How about an art project of our own for the FOP? How about some public service messages depicting cops in alleys looking for a man with a gun? Or showing us doing the hundreds of other things people are terrified to do? People should see our side of the job and not just the political spit in the face we take every day.

Memphis is a shithole to be avoided at all costs.

It's problems are very similar to Chicago's. They demolished their projects and scattered the residents throughout the city. Naturally, these individuals started an unprecedented crime wave in formerly civil areas. The result was that productive citizens left an already fragile town in droves, securing it's fate.

Dear Friend: sorry, but you are wrong on this issue. TRUE "conservatism" was supposed to mean that government bodies are to be small, limited in power, limited in their intrusion into our private lives, limited in taxation ability, thus promoting, de-facto as a result of the above, a free society as our Founding Fathers envisioned. Such small governmental entities also support the right of the people to bear arms. The opposite of the above is what we have now: huge governmental entities on local, county, state, and federal levels, that are very intrusive, overly taxing, and serve to destroy the few liberties we have left. Today's government agencies are socialist and tyrannical, especially the City of Chicago, Cook County, State of IL, and the Executive Branch of the Federal Government, all of the four above-mentioned governmental entities also, no surprise, are VERY opposed to our right to keep and bear arms.

The above-mentioned concept of the characteristics of a small, "conservative" government does NOT say that employees in the private and public sectors cannot unite and bargain for FAIR wages and working conditions.

Without a bargaining unit for police officers, we would have city officials and gold-stars at headquarters that would work together to arrange for us to be working for $30,000 a year, with no right to bid for our district, our watch, and our furlough.

The EVILS that CPD bosses used to inflict upon Chicago police officers (launching them from their districts/watches, cancelling their accumulated comp. time, changing their days off, demanding bribes to stay on their assigned car), all EVILS that CPD bosses gleefully implemented before we had a "union," are characteristics of a large, out-of-control tyrannical government agency!

Having the above bargaining rights is completely compatible with working toward a "conservative," limited-in-power government.

You stand corrected.

Peace!

It's only a 4.6% pay cut...but when you add to it the cost of living rising at let's say 3% then it's a 7.6% loss of purchasing power and disposable income.

Too bad that you can't go back to where you bought all those things on credit based upon your current salary at the time and cut their bills by 7% to pass it on eh?

Thing is that we have all been conditioned to think that we'll ALWAYS make more money in the future because of our experience.

NOT ANY MORE!

Today we have a race to the bottom. The American dream is so over.

Hey look if they can't get our money thru pay cuts they will take it from our savings.

What do you think is happening as we speak with "quantitative easing"?

Money saved historically speaking was worth 5~6 percent interest when you saved and it was loaned out to others. Ol' Ben Bernanke, US regulators and the treasury fixed that! You can't get 2% on that money today.

The powers point to all the good things "quantitative easing" will do. Why it will stimulate jobs and growth ha! But make no mistake about it. Lowering those interest rates hits everyones savings in the process. It's a tax but people don't see it because it's not called a tax. It steals from our future standard of living nonetheless.

The bankers robbed 20% or more of out home equity with frauds and now it's time to go after all that IRA, 401K, and pension money.

Interest rate manipulation not only steals ones reiterment earnings if the administration keeps it going it will likely force people to make early withdrawals and therefore pay tax penalities for doing so just to live..

Oh they have it all figured out. We struggle to make a buck and think that we are gaining ground because we have more dollars than we did last week. Meanwhile they continue printing money, manipulating interest rates on our saved money to the point that we are actually worse off.

It's to the point where why bother trying to hide it. Just do plain out wage cuts and take the money via scams.

What you are missing here is that they were forced to take a 4.6% pay decrease. Where is the guy with the post about unions suck now? Detroit police haven't had a raise in years and have taken 10% decreases in pay. Wake up to what's happening in the police world.

It seems that FOP doesn't seem to "get it."

It's a nice and honorable thing to fight fair and according to the rules... PROVIDED BOTH SIDES ADHERE TO SAID RULES!

We'll address this to FOP.
This is not a slam but an observation influenced by a goodly amount of years playing the Policing game...

This is... A fight for the very life and well being of Chicago Policemen.

When you are fighting for your life, you owe the guy you're wrestling with no polite consideration... Either you leave him lying on the ground or he leaves you lying on the ground.

But it seems FOP has mastered the art of fighting with one hand firmly jammed in their pocket so as not to "anger" the other guy who is entirely committed to hurting Policemen, their wives and loved ones.

The representative Police organization in Memphis seem to recognize that a one sided pact of non-aggression with a municipal leadership that seeks to vilify them and turn public good will against them IS A NON-STARTER!

Good on them... When you're eyeball to eyeball with the Devil, as men, you owe it to yourself and the rest of humanity to bite his fucking nose off...

Chicago Coppers have been taking some awful hard licks in this Civil War against The Police and all their concerns.

Why is that?

There are MANY tools at FOP's disposal...

Tools of which if properly used, would strike absolute terror in the hearts of the criminal/political and media cabal.

We guess it isn't "fair" for Policemen to fight dirty when their lives and well being are threatened.

Policemen have the power to utterly destroy the lives of these people seeking to harm us.

Heh... Coppers SEE shit...

Coppers KNOW shit...

Coppers can read, interpret and apply the law better than any high flying attorney.

Coppers have institutional knowledge and a culture of certain traditions that scares the shit out of these people.

For starters, we suggest a "hot sheet" of names, photographs, vehicles and local hang-outs of the usual suspects in local media...

Heh... We SEE what YOU'RE doing...

Same thing for some select members of elected officialdom...

Every time a slanted, anti-Police hit piece chock full of lies by omission is run or aired, one of the above parties gets "tickled."

They follow Policemen around and set up all manner of "ha-ha gotcha!" so the favor should be returned.

If they fail to get the hint, then a hard slap should follow the tickle.

Absolutely NO REASON for FOP to assume such a pacifist posture.

Locker room politics... You keep getting beat on and fucked with until you smack the offending motherfucker's jaw through the back of his head...

They'll cry about how it was "unfair" that you laid his ass out in spite of you being black and blue from HIS abuse.

FOP... Perhaps it's time to reconsider the "Gentleman's Agreement" with City Hall and 35th St.

I am a truck driver who moves heavy equipment for a living and at least once a month make deliveries to Memphis. It is one dangerous city on par with Detroit. This is no joke. I make damn sure I am out of there no later than 1:00PM in the afternoon on the day of delivery and know my route into and out of the city so I don't get caught on sidestreets. I am also armed (but this is against company policy). I have seen the billboards and am of the belief the Memphis FOP is giving you fair warning your life is in danger. The Chicago FOP should consider putting up similar billboards along the Dan Ryan or at the Bishop Ford/Stoney Island Merge to inform out of town travelers not to wander off into the south side or God Forbid, Englewood.

Neither a borrower, nor a lender be.

1. Usury, by any name.

2. Insurance, a ponzi scheme.

3. Taxation, 'charity' compelled via theft.

The three pillars of our 'modern' economy are made of mud, unfit to support the structure of civilization.

The takers take, whilst the makers make.

Which can survive without the other?

1. Police are working without a contract
2. Police pay in to their pensions.
3. The average pension for a retired policeman is under 40K
4. We are understaffed. ETC.....

Add what you will. How much could it cost to rent one on I55 for a bit. When the teacher's contract expire it's front page news until the contract is settled. We need to swing the public to our side and inform them.
