I've been up all night watching this. One thing that did bother me was when the police were approaching suspect #1 as he was laying in the street, there's one officer telling the camera guy to get back, and he only slightly moves. Bad enough you have the situation happenening in front of you, but then the media is right on your back? Some of the shots they're getting seem like they are fairly close, even though things are taped off.

The "government" today suspended internet rebroadcasts of Boston PD, Fire and EMS for "the safety of the officers". I'm on board with that concept. BUT any criminal or idiot could buy a device that will work locally and work "better". So it really doesn't hold too much water.
The real reason is that we have become a country of moronic mouth breathers. We have generations of children that are so self-absorbed that they can't resist using social media to blab everything they hear.
Being from Chicago, I listen to Zone 6 occasionally from NC, But I don't Tweet or puke up everything I hear. It is called self-control and common sense.
Add to this that listening to the media these days, where journalism degrees are roughly equal to a 3rd grade education, is fruitless.
I see this as one more step in the ongoing process of totalitarianism.
P.S. I found it interesting to hear some on the interaction between the Feds and the local jurisdictions. The Feds weren't too pushy, but they made it clear who was in charge.
So, I woke up about 2:40am, couldn't sleep, and turned on CNN. Heard about the MIT offficer killed, RIP, and that one suspect was in custody and another was being sought. Due to the possibility of being bomb strapped, the police and FBI had the in custody suspect strip naked before being put into a squad car. Initially it was reported that this suspect was the younger brother, who was videoed wearing the white cap on marathon day. Now, nothing is said about the naked suspect and the younger brother is allegedly the one on the run, with the older brother now deceased, may he rot in hell. Did anyone else see the earlier report who can relate what happened to and who was the first in custody suspect?
I was listening to 720 WGN at 1010 when they start bashing the police in Boston for firing an excessive amount of rounds at the terrorists and no mention of the dead po there!

Through tears, his roommate -- who trained with Collier at the police academy and did not provide his name -- said Collier was “awesome,” his only fault being that was he was too brave.
“He was the guy who went to help,” his roommate said. “The best guy got shot down by the biggest scumbags.”
In a statement, Collier’s family expressed their grief.
“We are heartbroken by the loss of our wonderful and caring son and brother, Sean Collier,” the family wrote. “Our only solace is that Sean died bravely doing what he committed his life to -- serving and protecting others. Expressions of love for Collier came from all corners of his life. MIT police chief John DiFava called Collier “a home run,” with every quality one could want in a police officer. A distraught student rode her bike to the MIT police station Friday morning to give her condolences after hearing of the death of the police officer, who had become a friend to many graduate students.
Somerville police Lt. William Rymill, who had known Collier for five years, said that in just two months, he would likely have fulfilled a longheld dream. Collier had scored high on a civil service exam, and was likely to be called to join the Somerville police department in June.
“Anybody could relate to him. Sean could talk to anybody,” Rymill said. “The girls here in dispatch haven’t stopped crying.”
“The loss of Officer Collier is deeply painful to the entire MIT community,” MIT President L. Rafael Reif said in a statement. “Our thoughts today are with his family, his friends, his colleagues on our police force and, by all accounts, the many other members of our community who knew him. This is a senseless and tragic loss.”
Collier was a 2009 honors graduate of Salem State University, receiving a degree in criminal justice.
“The MIT Police serve all of us at the Institute with great dignity, honor and dedication,” Israel Ruiz, MIT’s executive vice president and treasurer, said in a statement. “Everyone here -- those who knew Officer Collier, and those who did not -- are devastated by the events that transpired on our campus last night. All right, can we get back to the debate on sensible immigration reform?
Sensible reform to me is deport any illegal who commits crimes here, any illegal on welfare, any illegal getting any aid of any kind, any illegal who is even suspected of being alcoholic or drug addicted and any illegal who is not working.
All other able bodied people who came here illegally will pay a tax penalty of 25% of their income for 10 years in addition to always filing their taxes on time and paying their regular taxes on time and will take citizenship lessons until they can attain a perfect score on a stringent consititution test, recite the Gettysburg Address from memory and speak perfect English.
Any illegals allowed to remain will forever celebrate the 4th of July/Independance Day holiday on the 4th of July and not any bullshit bolshevik holidays from the old country.
All illegals are prohibited for their lifetime from protesting anything about the US Government.
All public schools within the United States will be prohibited from being named after presidents of other country's or revolutionaries unless that revolutionary was also a staunch supporter of US liberty, freedom, and the republic of the United States.

They took Milton Rosenberg off the air because of his conservative viewpoints. They also made his podcasts unavailable. They have nothing but idiots as on air personalities, except for Garry Meier.

I do not like speculation, I prefer to let the evidence lead my investigation, not an agenda or an ideology. I learned that by working as a homicide detective before joining a regional Chicagoland bomb squad. To insinuate that I'm being ignorant is just another way to try to discredit my message in a vain attempt to silence me. As another example, you bring up the fact that I'm a "cop" making a statement and it scares you. Why? Am I not allowed in your world to make an opinion based on my years of service, training and real-world experience?
I chose my profession. I grew up here and love the city, I just hate the "leaders" that the useful idiots support without giving any thought to the consequences. I choose everyday I work to leave my house, knowing that maybe today is the day I may have to take a bullet or be caught in a blast to protect someone, which may include you,your friends or family. I am not looking for glory nor am I looking for recognition. I merely wanted you and John's readers the ability amidst all the nonsensical and agenda driven reporting an opportunity into how I see this situation as a certified bomb technician and policeman.
If you do not agree with me fine, present facts or at least all the facts like McVeigh and Rudolph were registered Democrats. Why is that never reported? Their actions were born within their belief structure and carried out to demonstrate their support of their ideology. If you cannot agree with me despite a civil debate; good. Be what our founders were, peoples from all walks of life who came together despite arguments for the good of all America not just liberal, conservative, black, white, asian, etc.
As for what you think a cop should or should not say or do, maybe try coming to work and doing my job with me and see if your shorts are still dry after a few callouts. God Bless you and your family. I hope you never have to witness or experience what thos marathon watchers had to go through.

I was hoping at least one voice for law enforcement would have put things in perspective amid the jublilation of the post-arrest festivities. Several dead, hundreds maimed and a city and region held hostage for several days. To say nothing about the future repurcussions on any public event like a marathon or Super Bowl or World series.
I've been around plenty of manhunts looking for cop murderers. There was always some satisfaction when police get the asshole tempered by realization of the reason we were all looking in the first place.
One of our brothers in a morgue can never be called a happy ending when the shitbags responsible meet their just reward or are taken into custody. Now the Justice Department circus begins.
Isn't Watertown the place where Professor Gates was arrested and Obama said the police acted stupidly (even though it was Gates that acted stupidly)?
Are we going to have a beer summit with the Chechens now? Maybe this is another "teachable moment" where we can all learn how America is bad and Chechens should be understood for blowing up little children.
Or perhaps this incident should bring us closer to Mother Russia in her struggle with the Chechens.

This is one citizen hoping the city gets off of its ass and gets CPD the training and equipment needed to deal with these kind of attacks. Every cop in town should have medical gear, a plate carrier, a carbine with light and optic, and the training to use them.
It's so interesting to see a large city where the citizenry, the Mayor and the media aren't actively warring against their Policemen...
Chicago is a very strange and peculiar place...
