That Giant Sucking Sound

It's a bird? It's the mayor? No, it's Chicago infrastructure!
  • As a relentless rainstorm battered the Chicago area early Thursday morning, Laide Giwa watched her Dodge Charger drop into a sinkhole.

The hole — which had already swallowed two vehicles before claiming Giwa's car —was not caused by the rain but by a break in an aging water main, officials later said.

Witnesses said the hole opened up in the 9600 block of South Houston Avenue about 5 a.m. and eventually was the entire width of the street.
Picture:

The good news is someone reported this as a "pothole" within minutes using their SmartPhone and Rahm's new "pothole app" had crews dispatched within minutes!

Ch 9 had video of the street (what was left of it) giving way, and the 3rd car falling in.

I like the way the suck-ass media fell for Rahm's aging water pipe ploy to fleece taxpayers.

$200,000,000 in parks and $100,000,000 in bike lanes are more important. To hell with the infrastructure.

Well the Trib sure is carrying out
Nobama's agenda to make the sequestration cuts "hurt" and blame them on the Republicans. And yet, this president has not had a single budget passed since he got into office nor has one single Obama phone been turned off in order to keep America's economy from being destroyed.

It's a shame that sooo many of our "intelligent" voters are unable to see this administration for the commies that they really are...

Could someone please enlighten me as to where the $3 billion deep tunnel is? Can anyone account for that money? Yesterday I saw some politician on TV saying it is awaiting more funding? This is fucking ridiculous, replacing a furnace and water heaters every two years.

She said she wasn't permitted to, by CFD. I guess you'd rather she added her weight to the car and went in with it.

F*cking @sshole Mayor Rahm raised my water rates in the burbs by over 20% twice in two years. This was to pay for upgrades to the water system. Have they done shit with all that money? Chicago has become a warzone for gangs and the dirty politicians dont do shit as the fill their pockets. I wish Rahm and Daly would end up in a cell with Hot Rod.

The Deep Tunnel project is the biggest scam in my lifetime. The British and French built the Chunnel. The Chunnel moves rail and vehicular traffic. Deep tunnel only moves water. Ridiculous.

I understand there is a project for Ashland Ave. As I understand it, the project, would be to run "Bus Lanes Only" next to those stupid, and useless flower pots. This would then limit commuter traffic down to one lane. The parking lane will remain. My question is "What Are The Thinking" ? If they just left everything alone, and never put in those stupid flower pots, they would have been much better off. Those middle lanes, were perfect for emergency vehicles, and the street was open. As it is now, the street is always backed up with traffic, too dangerous to ride a bicycle, and risky to cross. In short way too much traffic, for this to work. Who thinks up this stuff anyway ?
