- 25th District car is assisting fugitives, 1400 N Central. a whole 2 blocks out of 15. Bad guy gets goofy, copper calling for help and calling for a taser. You can hear the struggle on the radio. A 15th District car is right on the border and says they have a taser and are going.
Guess what?
1500 gets on on the radio and says that 15th district cars have to stay in 15.
Commander, FUCK YOU. You were never the police, you are an over promoted bitch. When a copper calls for help EVERYONE goes. Turn in your fucking star. You are a worthless piece of shit. And McCarthy, if you let this stand with no punishment for that bitch, you are a total failure. This was just last year.

I don't understand why during an emergency everyone wants to tie up air on the radio and say they are responding. just go! deal with the boss later, I can always justify why I didn't say I was going later.
1st that copper should get a CR # on her, then get the FOP lawyers to save the radio transmisions for this event in case of any type of lawsuit, media, disciplin.
Here in the the 6 District we are not allowed to leave our beat to assist other officers in need of help. On third watch we are not allowed to respond to back up calls or 10-1s. The district is pretty big and if your on the west end you must stay there and the same for the east end. Obviously those of us with enough common sense or time on the job ignore that. Its sad, continue backing up your fellow officers. We are all we got.

I'm a retired P/O, but I have to throw my 2 cents in on this one. I do not know of co west but I would ask the bitch if she knows what it says on the shoulder patch of her uniform? Over the years I have known many good female cops who would have been putting the boots and baton to the offender or the high-heals and whacking them with their purse that had a bowling ball in it.
Then there was this male sergeant many years ago in Cabrini Green Special Employment when there was a lot of heat there because of a lot of shootings. (Sound familiar?) He told us at roll call that Special Employment Units WILL NOT RESPOND TO 10-1's IN THE 18th DISTRICT.
We looked at each other and I worked in 18, and I didn't have a lot of respect for this goof to begin with. I spoke up at roll call and said that he could not tell us that and if he wanted to have that to have the Commander sign it and put it in the C.O. Book. Knowing the Commander back the I knew that wouldn't happen, no Commander back then would say that back in those days. So this sergeant puts me by myself guarding the Cabrini parking lot and I still made an arrest. What he said filtered back to the powers that be and he got launched. As I recall he had another job with one of the utility companies. He got caught double dipping and lost both jobs and went to jail. It was no loss for the CPD.

That's the point. We need to ask permission because of the G.O's, S.O.'s, and IPRA interpretations that will jam us up. We need to have this aired out because the current above stated rules/regulations allow for an incompetant person to misdirect hard charging police.
Just so you know, anyone, repeat, ANYONE can obtain a CR number, or whatever they are calling them now.
Somebody who has direct knowledge of this alleged incident, ESPECIALLY YOU WHITE SHIRTS, should obtain a complaint on the Commander for a rule violation. Especially since it is on tape and cannot be denied.
If no one has the stones to stop this abuse of police officers by the Department brass, then stop crying on SCC and go apply for a job as a security guard somewhere.

What ever happened to more feet on the beat. I was at the academy last week for training and saw an enormous amount of wasted man power there. Must be nice to have straight days with weekends off with ONLY ten years on the job. But then again I don't take care of McJersey either!

I work in 006 and have no clue what this person is talking about! We go from end to end in the dist, help 022, 008 & 003 if needed! Never stay on the beat for a whole tour all while working for a boss who DOES NOT HAVE YOUR BACK PERIOD! Unless your one of his couple of hand picked individuals. If the 015th Boss watched a p.o. dragged into an alley & didn't even ask for an assist she should have been demoted on the spot, followed by her PAR form saying "I'm a failure & I quit"

Anyone, including supervisors, with knowledge of this order, needs to put together a list of witnesses on duty at the time and file a complaint. That must be done. That cannot be allowed to stand unchallenged.
A complaint(s) must be filed immediately. That person (a Commander?) is likely to get police officers hurt or worse.
This Commander West is, however, providing a valuable service. She can be used in the Training Academy for years to come as an example of the exactly worst way to command officers.

Now there was a former commander of 015 who had standing orders for outside units to stay out of 015 but that is because he was a thief and made money protecting the drug dealers. Nothing ever happened. His bag man was arrested and went to prison but kept his mouth shut. The commander lived out his natural life and was never even accused, much less charged.
Rumor was the money went much higher, to an Area Deputy Chief who later made superintendant. No charges, no accusations, no trial, no nothing. The whole area was dirty as hell and nothing ever happened.
Just a few coppers here and there but never the bosses taking the real money.
She's just like all the other bosses down at 35th. Not a one of them are anything more then a meritorious piece's of shit. You think it's bad now, just wait. This department doesn't promote the working police who have commonsense, 35th is full of do nothing dog-asses who've never received a CR, and were nothing more then paper jumpers assuming their wasn't a TRR involved. But rest assured, she's not going anywhere...being a f/1 in a command spot she's golden.
Though thankfully nobody was killed. But it could happen. Then what the city would say or do? The family and every lawyer in the state would jump all over this. I don't know if CPD can go to the labor relations board over this if somebody goes then gets fired or suspended but definitely fight it.
A similar situation happened to me about 15 years ago. My partner and I responded to a 10-1 at 4848. After the situation calmed, the Sgt berated me in front of 10 other coppers (some from 023) for leaving my beat and sector. I dared the POS Sgt, to not only SPAR me, but get a CR number on me (I drove the car) for leaving my beat and sector to respond to a 10-1 at a CHA building. I asked him what Maurer would say to him about CRing a copper for going to a 10-1 in a district that wasn't even that big to being with. He got flustered, as he was want to, and just said "get back to your fucking beat" I got computer "way to go" messages for an hour after that. The W/C called me in and said he wished he tried to SPAR or CR me, so he could launch the Sgt to 005 on midnights.
This turns my fucking stomach!!

No time for a district. Immediately returned to IAD Confidential Investigations. When you got the skills, they are in demand. New Chief of IAD appointed and requests meeting to discuss status of investigations and accused officers. Here in the the 6 District we are not allowed to leave our beat to assist other officers in need of help. On third watch we are not allowed to respond to back up calls or 10-1s. The district is pretty big and if your on the west end you must stay there and the same for the east end. Obviously those of us with enough common sense or time on the job ignore that. Its sad, continue backing up your fellow officers. We are all we got.

These supervisors are getting all goofy because of the "boxes". A Sgt at VRI told our team to stay in our boxes, even if there is a shooting a block over. We could only leave our boxes to assist on a 10-1.

I'm sure glad I came on in 77 (and retired)when we were proud to be the police and if you had a beef with another copper that didn't stop you from helping him if needed. As an old timer told me when I went on " if you call for help there will be 50 guys out there tearing the building down brick by brick to get to you" and I never forgot that and would still do it today if I saw a PO fighting with a guy even though I'm the old school wheel gun police.

After no answer, a few seconds later the dispatcher asked for a car with a taser. Several cars from 025 came up, saying they were close by, going, etc. The 015th District car then came up and said they were going. The same beat who complains about getting jobs in their own district. Hmmm... A few secondd later there was a call of total disregard. The person was in custody. Now you can like or dislike whomever you want, but the total lack of respect that I just read here makes me happy that I am a short timer. Everyone is so worriedd about Rham dividing. Stop worrying. The $17K Streeterville, Gold Coast and DePaul area taxpayers are slowly realizing they're in for a special treat this summer.
Look for Coppers to continue retiring like it's going out of style. The '85 to '95 people are fleeing in droves.
Rahm is playing the exempts like whores... Throw a steak down their throats, ply them with drinks and trying to get them to either cough up advice/certain Chicago Police-y type information w/o the proper "consultation fee" (fuck you, pay me...) or Rahm is doing some "morale building."

I've worked all 3 watches in 015 for quit some years and i have to say this is undoubtedly one of the worse commanders I've worked for here, she may look good on paper but sure as hell a big failure in numerous decisions not to mention when she steps foot out on the field! take some advise from a P/O with some time....stay inside push your little numbers, support and backup us officers period! You really don't know much of street crime lone less on-viewing it, you already were the no.1 cause of an injured P/O not to mention you never know where your at when calling for an assist. Do us all a big favor and stay inside!!!
just maybe one day you will be out there calling for an assist and wonder why its taking so long or wait.....damn you gave out the wrong location!!!
I work midnites for family reasons and my activity sheets will always be at the minimal....answered 25 domestics and 15 narcotics calls and a big fat ZERO for the rest of the fucking boxes....take that to the bank bimbo-barb....
So lets say the Commander didn't deny and 3 beat cars from 015 went and in that time there was a triple shooting in the 015 District. Then what??? That Commander will be responsible. Possible get demoted. All u asshats would think differently if you became a boss. U people are thinking like "blue shirts" and unfortunately that's why you will stay "blue shirts".

WOW. Just WOW! Bucking for that merit white shirt spot Huh? Think like the POLICE; Why's it got to be blue shirt/white shirt? If you can't handle being yelled at as a white shirt for them taking care of other troops, you shouldn't be on the job, much less wear a white shirt. Maybe its "FORTUNATELY you will stay blue shirts"; so other blue shirts have someone to back them up.
I'd really love to know what some coppers would do for a gold star. Work under the desk, chop their arm off, pay for the bosses new boat, make their car payments?

Barb as a female black commander of the CPD Dr. King would be ashamed of how you have advanced in tis department. You never were the police based on the positions that you have held and the units in which you worked or were placed in charge of. Dr. King stated quite famously “let a man be judged on the content of his character and not the color of his skin”. Barb it is not only you who has abused this idea yet every exempt boss of color or who is a female. The idea that you have the audacity to micro manage the district, ask p.o’s to do activities that place them in questionable positions only to ensure you current position or look to move beyond your current rank is an insult to every officer who has done the job which you have chosen to never attempt to do (go back to your hole and sleep on the ‘island”) Far better commanders have been the police and then held your current position, you insult their hard work. Do the officers in 015 and the department and leave as soon as possible. We in 015 do not care how we just hope soon and hopefully not to a position of higher rank and authority. You never were the police and this latest incident is an indication that your entire time in the command position is an absolute failure.

This reminds me of a case in England a year or two ago. Police officers and firemen stood and watched for 15 minutes while an epileptic man drowned in a duck pond at the park. One cop who tried to save him was chased back to shore by the supervisor. The problem? His level of training had not certified him to enter water that was more than ankle deep. The epileptic man had floated out to the middle of the pond, where the water was waist deep. By the time an officer certified to enter water more than ankle deep arrived, the victim had drowned. This is what happens when you put rules and red tape over human lives.
