Things coming apart at 35th Street?
- Did I miss it? Anyone talking about the exempts being forced to retire or else? Word is the Burger Queen, J.P. and some other high ranking bosses leaving. And there is rumor that Carothers, that's A.C. not I.C., is singing big time and may have something to do with the "retirements?"
The Burger Queen is long gone. We assume they are mistaking her Lynette Helm, multiple "merit" promotee and famous for being the only captain served the least amount of time in a district, being assigned directly to the CAPS office at 35ht Street and shuffled into numerous other assignments that could have been run (...and in a few cases, were run...) by a lieutenant or sergeant:

Patterson is retiring to supposedly join the Amtrak police. His parting was classic according to sources:
- In other local news chief Patterson is leaving cpd and told gmac... Gmac bid him farewell by chewing is behind out and blowing a gasket. Patterson is leaving for another dept. and pretty much told gmac to shove it up his ass. A loss for the dept but good for him. Great guy and great boss
That part about Carothers snitching would be great though. We can dream, can't we?

It would be great, but a dream, for some of these exempts who have retired to now come forward and talk about the political patronage process that long has been part of the department. And, to top that off, have Beavers speak up on how he helped rig and influence numerous police promotional exams and transfers to specialized units? Ever hear of exam scam?
people really need to realize that their is life after the cpd--- a world full of opportunity exists out there for people with a law enforcement background--- a large number of cpd bosses left when possum head tried to demote them when he shook up the command structure--- now a number of bosses have had it with gmac's arrogant bullying and are looking for greener pastures--- it is leaving the cpd with a huge vacuum of experienced leadership just as we are approaching the coming of summer and the increase in violence associated with the warm weather--- make no mistake about it, the little runt is orchestrating the whole thing....
Worked with Joe Patterson as PO's in the late 80's. He was always a class act. Ran into him numerous times on details, etc as he climbed the ladder and he would ways take time out to bs for a few minutes. I don't know what he's like to work because I never have, but as a person he's a great guy.

If the Feds were smart they would look at all the candidates ac signed off on... Ac's brother had a huge influence with the applicants that were pushed through with criminal backgrounds, drug use, and other in their back ground. Or how about the LOA process and the way Personnel maintains LOA's by using several shoe boxes with the letters marked as ABC&D on them when an employee goes on LOA a card is filled out and when they come back the card again is filled out. So what happens to all those cards that go missing Hmmm good question. How many officers and connected ones still collecting a check when they should have come back to work? someone should look into this closely -- the list is endless and the Feds could have a field day. Oh well

I certainly agree with this comment. Do not buy tickets or attend any retirement parties for these hacks, or promotional parties for that matter. But, I do promote attending the annual holiday party to honor those working men and women who have come to the end of their careers.
It would be very simple to trace the history of exempts backwards to investigate if they ever were working coppers, how they were promoted, who submitted their names, where they were assigned after being promoted, how long between promotions, how we're they subsequently promoted again and so on. This of course would never happen. The powers out their don't want it to come out. Political donations, relatives of politicos and former CPD brass, test scams, money envelopes, merit board process, etc., if it ever got out there would be lawsuits that would bankrupt this city. Of course it isn't only a CPD issue, CFD, CTU, Cook County, you name it, it runs rampant locally. Don't hold your breath waiting for any entity to look into this.

Since some of them are over their heads as sergeants, this is a bad thing.
I have not seen Lynette Helm since she was a sergeant in 007 back in the late 90's I thought she was a good person and a good police officer. I wonder what happened to her attitude?

She was in 007 for about two minutes. They detailed her to HQ. Multi-meritcloutorious promotions way beyond her capabilities and comfort zone is the answer to your question. She will not be missed.
