Tour Mexico!

  • Six people were strangled to death and one decapitated in the southern Mexican tourist resort of Cancun on Sunday, the state's deputy attorney general said, in the latest mass killing to strike the city in the last few weeks.

Police found the bodies of the five men and two women in a shack in the outskirts of Cancun, a major tourist destination on Mexico's Caribbean coast, that has largely escaped the drug-related violence that has racked Acapulco, a faded tourist destination on the Pacific coast.

"It looks like the victims were independent drug dealers without any links to any specific cartel," said Juan Ignacio Hernandez, deputy attorney general of Quintana Roo state.

Last month six people died and five were injured after two men opened fire in a bar on the outskirts of Cancun.
And it isn't like we're importing these thugs in and around the border with outposts being set up in the Midwest. Oh wait...yeah we are.

I heard that the decapitated head was being sent to Wrigley Field.

To be truthful, the murders occurred in a shack on the outskirts of Cancun, in an area not frequented by tourists. Of course, nothing of this sort could ever
happen here in our city's tourist traps, like a late night Wrigleyville bar/restaurant or the Magnificent Mile.

Wife and I used to go to Mexico every year in the early to mid 2000s. Cancun, Playa de Carmen, Riverea Maya, etc. It was always a great vacation.

Stopped going about 6 years ago. Won't go back.

Went to Acapulco this past February. Cancun two or three years ago. Had no problems whatsoever. Police, military all over the place. Even security guards were carrying automatic weapons or shotguns. Very few Americans in Acapulco this trip. Sad to see but I understand peoples reluctance to go to Mexico these days.

Every time somebody lights up a joint, that “harmless”, “recreation”, they contribute to the violence in Mexico. For all the crap hippies spew about being "responsible for the planet”, responsibility for the consequences of their actions flies out the window the minute they want to get high.

Mexico goes outta their way to bury stories of crime in that area. Mexican police officers charged with raping an Italian tourist February 12 2013 after she refused to pay bribe...www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2283036/Playa-del-Carmen-rape-Mexican-police-officers-charged-woman-failed-pay-bribe-leaving-nightclub.html

I like how the politicians are content to say there are 11,000,000 illegals in this country. I went to public school and that transfers to 1,000 people entering illegal every day for 33 years, Or the total population of the two largest cities in the United States. And no one has to answer for this?

Been retired 2 years and I´m on vacation here in Cancun until Saturday. The killings were independant drug dealers on the outskirts of town. Didn´t even know about it until I read the blog. Could have been in the papers or on the local news but I don´t speak Spanish so I wouldn´t of known anyway. I haven´t been here in 6 years and it´s better and more beautiful than ever. I feel alot safer going to the entertainment and shopping area in Cancun than I did last month when I went with my daughter to Water Tower on a Saturday night to do some shopping. Half the people down here are retired, all-inclusive resort is fabulous, and the prices are really good. Hasta La Vista, baby!

Mexico is starting to look like 003, 004, 005, 006 007 & 011 - if not more horrible. There are other vacation spots, don't put your family at risk. Think about it. Latin kings serving drinks and latin queens giving you lap dances. SD's cleaning your rooms. No thank you.

Mexico and Jamaica have something in common. You can vacation there and have fun, good food etc. But, you will be confined to a walled and guarded hotel and you will stay close to that hotel if you are smart. The days of going into town for local restaurants, nighclubbing and shopping are long over. Much of this same advice goes for many islands in the Carib, and Puerto Rico. Just go on the British web site for their Home Office which is equivalent to our Secretary of State. They warn their citinzens about travel to Mexico and some other places and it seems they are not as politically correct as the US.

A lot of crime hits tourists in Mexico daily, but is kept from the news. Kidnappings to take tourist to the local ATM is a frequent occurance. The British tell their citizens about these incidents, here in the US it is kept quiet.
