SCCN Founder Retires

Not sure how many people reading here remember the old "Second City Coppers Network" bulletin board. It was the precursor to the blog and we have stated here and elsewhere to being partly inspired by SCCN.

It was something completely new and the Department bosses were blindsided by its popularity. SCCN was the natural progression of numerous underground newsletters like The Gallows, but able to reach everyone in an instant. We don't recall the exact years of operation, but it was shutdown after an amazing run.

We were informed the person who ran it retired this past week, and while we never worked with him directly, we did meet on a few occasions (though he never knew it).

We just wanted to wish him a long and healthy retirement at this juncture. We don't think he ever sought notoriety, so we'll refrain from posting his name here, as well as in the comment section. Generic congratulations will be posted - you can use his first initial if you like. Full names and initials won't be posted.

He was The Real Police, and never forgot his roots. A sharp guy, who's wisdom will be missed on this job.

I hope you collect MANY MANY pension checks and enjoy your retirement, you earned it! Thanks for everything!

Could it be because it is an Indian burial ground? Historically, 025 has been the catalyst in spawning daring officers who challenged the broken and corrupt CPD system.

In retrospect, perhaps that obnoxious idiot Curtin was a godsend. He put the fire in the bellies of the troops at Grand Central. 025 should be known as FORT REBELLION.

Ain't No Pity In Donkey City!

Not enough kind words to say about him. Loyal, true friend, generous and a great police officer. One of the nicest people I've ever met on this job and in life. You now have all the time in the world to be you and play guitar.

A happy retirement to a true visionary. I would be remiss if I didn't extend credit to your already retired First Amendment predecessors at the GALLOWS [LB, JS, RD and SL].

Like our beloved SCC, you guys rock!

A great man that was very helpful behind the scenes when it came to looking out for the blue shirts. He took care of a lot of people that probably didnt even know it which speaks volumes for his character.....doing the standup thing when he didnt have to, without expecting any recognition or thanks. Sucks he retired for the rest of us since we are losing one of the few good bosses but he definetly deserves a long and happy retirement. Enjoy it my good man!

Imagine that the political hack Shields family getting taken care of as usual by the Cook County Democratic Machine.

General Iron spokesman Denis Culloton is another huge Machine political hack. He was Governor George "Machine Corruption" Ryan's press spokesperson.

O.T.- Did I miss it? Anyone talking about the exempts being forced to retire or else? Word is the Burger Queen, J.P. and some other high ranking bosses leaving. And there is rumor that Carothers, that's A.C. not I.C., is singing big time and may have something to do with the "retirements?"
