Maldonado Whines

  • Ald. Roberto Maldonado (26th) filed a complaint accusing a Chicago Police officer of racism after he was ticketed for illegally passing a turning a vehicle.

The incident that triggered Maldonado’s complaint occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on May 1 after Maldonado picked his children up from swimming practice.

The aldermen said he was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of North and Leavitt when the car in front of him was turning left. Instead of waiting for the turn to be completed, Maldonado said he drove his 2004 Honda Pilot around the turning car on the right.

Maldonado said he was pulled over by a Chicago Police squad car about a mile west of the intersection.

Maldonado then starts dropping hints about holding press conferences and finally drops the "don't you have better things to do" line and tells the officer he's calling the commander and manages to get his license back...temporarily. When he finally gets the tickets, he calls the commander, a sergeant is sent out and the status quo remains.

Maldonado insists this was a white officer and he was intimidated. Our comment sections state both officers were hispanic in ancestry. Time will tell, but Maldonado looks whiny and the Sun Times comments aren't very kind to him either. They'd be less kind if they realized how many times he's been pulled over for driving like an ass and gotten off playing the "aldercreature" card.

from a troll: Someone, probably a cop wrote on the first thread something like its no big deal, its part of the job. Well that is partially correct. There are a lot whinny pissy people who will bitch about getting a ticket and some will do more than bitch. (Me excluded. I never got a ticket I did not deserve. BFD) But this Maldonado asshole is purportedly an elected offical of government and should conduct himself accordingly. The fact is he did not and comported himself as the previously mentioned asshole I think he is. And this is where Franny dropped the ball. She should be pressing him about how HE handled himself. She should be confronting him about HIS conduct. Why does he think he is above the law. Why does he think politicians in general by their actions think they are entitled and above the law. But she handled it like Sneed and all the other so called journalists who stopped challenging politicians years ago. Now, the only people keeping these dirtbags in line are the people working in the US Attorney's office. And in my opinion, they are not working hard enough! Politicans in IL should be reporting to Federal prisons by the score.

Maldonado's quotes from the Sun-Times article:

“This was a white officer. He was belligerent and disrespectful. He said, ‘No. Give me your driver’s license back. I’m going give you as many tickets as I can,’” Maldonado recalled.

“I said, ‘You’re being completely disrespectful. I settled with the other officer and now you’re coming with this? You’re acting racist. I feel discriminated by you.’ I said, ‘I’m not going to get out of the car. I’m going to call the commander.’ ”

Apparently, in the brave new world we live in, you are being "disrespectful" if you hold a person to certain standards and expect others to comply with the rules and laws of a civilized society.

Also, Alderman Maldonado, much as I hate being the grammar guy, the phrase "I feel discriminated by you" makes no sense. You could say "I feel discriminated against by you" or "I feel you are discriminating against me" or "Because I am too fucking stupid to realize that Hispanics can look "white" I am going to assume that you are "white" and I am going to claim that you discriminated against me because you are "white" and I am a Puerto Rican." You could say all these things and be grammatically correct. You'd still be factually wrong (except for the part about being stupid), but at least your grammar would pass muster.

And he's acting like "don't the police have anything better to do". How about "doesn't an alderman have more important and pressing issues to address than making phone calls and using city resources to exempt himself from a menial traffic citation??" He makes enough money to pay the fine, or the traffic safety school option - it's even available online so you don't have to waste a saturday sitting in a classroom. And playing the race card- that crap is so outdated it's actually comical and more pathetic than anything to hear anyone claim racism. Whenever I hear someone use that as an excuse it makes me believe that their position is so weak that in order to defend themselves they must invoke this type of argument to gain support and mask their true culpability in the situation. It has been a common ploy of career criminals for years, and has a long record of success especially in this city.

Widespread in Illinois -- the laws don't apply to me attitude.

City lacked approval to destroy records

    Police files shredded anyway

    By Bruce Rushton

Springfield police destroyed internal affairs files older than four years just eight months after establishing a five-year retention period under a state law that requires records to be preserved according to retention schedules approved by a local records commission.

The city last September applied for and was granted a five-year window to retain the records, said David Joens, director of state archives with the Illinois Secretary of State's office who sits on the commission charged with determining how long records should be kept. Absent a retention schedule approved by the commission, such records should be kept indefinitely, he said.

"If it's a record, which it (an internal affairs file) is, it has to be on a retention schedule," Joens said. "If it's not on the schedule, it's supposed to be kept indefinitely."

    Get a load of this..

...Republican Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois wants help from the feds to take down the city's most violent street gangs.

"I would like to crush them, because they shot Hadiya," Kirk told Fox Chicago in an exclusive interview.

The senator wants to crush the gangs becuase they shot Hadiya WTF? All the other issues do not matter. They shot Hadiya!!

What about the thousands of other people shot, many of them killed? Surely not every single one of them was a gang member. What about the coppers shot in the line of duty?

They don't matter? What about doing it for the 2.8 million people living in Chicago? Nope, we need to raise this girl to martyr status.

So when's the Hollywood movie? You know that has to be next.

This family must sure have a lot of money as why else out of all the people impacted by violence in this city -- she is the ONLY one being treated as a martyr by politicians trying to get their hands on some of that money.

Kirk continued, "We have that Al Capone image," telling Fox that when he's traveled abroad strangers will do things like pantomime shooting a Tommy gun when he reveals where he's from. Kirk believes the gangster image "hurts our economic growth."

"My top priority is to arrest the Gangster Disciple gang, which is 18,000 people," Kirk said. "I would like to a mass pickup of them and put them all in the Thomson Correctional Facility, I will be proposing this to the assembled federal law enforcement: ATF, DEA and FBI."

In April, Kirk met with Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy to devise strategies that would curb gang violence and the illegal flow of weapons into the city.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/03/mark-kirk-chicago-gangs-s_n_3209189.html?utm_hp_ref=chicago

Yeah, Federal troops decend on Chicago and round up 18,000+ gang members on a door to door search. Put them in boxcars and send them to Homeland Security prison camps.

Okay, let's see, 18,000 gangster disciples locked up at a cost of $143/day. Has he checked in with Gov Quinn and his prison closings or with Preckwinkle on her views?

Where's the $2,574,000 per day going to come from when Illinois and Chicago are both broke? Is there even space in the prison for them all?

Anyways, as fast as they are locked up the illegal immigrant drug cartels will move in and be given sactuary to replace them AND THAT'S JUST ONE MORE TOOL THAT POLITICIANS CAN USE to extract more protection money from the middle class taxpayers.

Yes, protestion money. Like the mob.

We lock up all 18,000 of them economic growth as measured by GDP will be soaring though, right?

$2.574 million additional dollars a day taken from disposable income, savings, pensions, retirement to be spent on prisons!

The city will have to give up the equiv of a Maggie Daley park ever single month they are held. Rahm will most likely find that unacceptable.

Yep prisons are a service and the money spent on them is counted on GDP I think so... the economy will be soaring. Look at the growth the politicians will proclaim.

No, don't look at the DOJ running guns to the drug cartels. Don't look at DHS and illegal immigrants that are bringing the contraband into the city that provides the funding for the criminal activity. Nope, treat the sympton and use it as a tool to get cash flowing into your scope of power and influence. That's how this game is being played.

All the spin of an E-6 tornado

Declare the gangs suspected terrorist and send in the drones to do missile strikes in Washington Park and Englewood. Pretty much the road we're on why sugar coat it.

He's a chump. Most cop's in 014 avoid the 1700 block of N. Troy because this asswipe lives there and expects us to kiss his ass everytime something happens, no matter how minor! Fuck him..Typical douchbag politician living in the nicest, newest house on the shittiest block! Big two story brick house on a triple city lot. Probably pays the lowest property tax assessment on the whole block!

Kind of like when that other piece-of-shit Luis Gutierrez lived in Bucktown and had his house assessed as vacant lot. Only paid up after the Sun-Times busted his criminal ass!

I'm just waiting to hear Nobama say - "and the officer acted...stupidly...."

You don't like your ticket, contest it in court.
Otherwise, do what civilized people do and STFU.

This Alderman is looking like a cry baby race baiting fool in the paper today. What a joke. He is basically saying Fuck the police. He basically is saying I am a alderman and I am above the law. Why is he so much more important then someone else getting pulled over? If you commit a traffic violation it is what it is. This Maldonado is a straight up prick who feels he is entitled. It is a slap in the face to all officers. In the end he got no ticket so let it go Mr Alderman. No need to get a CR number. What a baby.

Im guessing the alderman had to change lanes to pass the turning vehicle. You can not change lanes within a certain distance of an intersection and did he signal his intended lane change?

I am curious since you seem to know the law so well, just how many feet from an intersection are you forbidden from changing lanes?? or are you just pulling stuff out of thin air... hope your not confusing with distance from intersection for u-turns.

I am sick of off duty coppers, deputies and politicians driving around like jag bags. Sorry to say it but I must...

to the hispanic officer who returned the ticket: pussy ass bitch letting your dick hide in your sack over some bullshit title. you supported him to act out like a bitch next time he gets stopped.

To the white officer: thank you officer for doing your job, sorry but I don't think the idiot will have much better of an attitude next time he gets stopped. You represented most of us officers who have pride and respect for the job.

To that commander: what did you send the sgt there for? Why are you so intimidated by the aldercrook? Officers did their job and from all the facts gethered so far the only claim aldercrook has is that the officer was white. So being white is racist? Tell us if you don't want us to make stops, not a problem, some of us are so smart we stopped many years ago. Hope you are showing support to the white cop, not the scared one with the shakes.

    Courtesy is NOT a right.

I've wrote deputies, lock up aids and lawyers. Act out? Get a ticket!

As far as us doing "real police work"...

Macdonaldomez you jag bag we don't have pdt's, cars, computers, paper, locker, training, days off, contract and support of your illegal immigrant infested community. We can't do police work, ass holes like you spent it on programs which do not support those of us who actually paid taxes. Shove that ticket right up your ass.

Been there and seen that with MALDONANDO. He tried the race card with another officer once, and the rest of the conversation took place in Spanish. He became frustrated with that, that he gave the officer the finger and drove away. The officer just laughed at him. He's a buffoon, and forgets that no one cares who he is.

Don't pick on the poor alderman! He, a grown-ass man, was intimidated by the big, bad, white police officer! He was scared! A grown-ass man! Look in the mirror you asshole, you are an adult, not a five year-old!

Why is the alderman worried about a trivial thing like a ticket when he's got so many bigger issues to worry about? Asshat.

Report him to the Legislative Inspector General who investigates aldermen. 312-744-2312. Leave a message and they will call you back. It's like getting a CR on him.

Maldonado is as bad an alderman as he is a driver. Can it be possible he did not know the Spanish cobras had an illegal social club across the street from his office? If he didn't know are we to believe no one complained to him? Didn't he think of the probability of a gang shooting occurring after the social club lets out? Maybe he is part of the "no snitching" culture, unless it's to complain about the police. Anyway you cut he is a disgrace.

He's lying. Residents complained to him and the police on a regular basis. I know as I am one of them.

Just to clear things up. The two cars in front of the alderman did NOT turn left. They continued westbound. The alderman accelerated around BOTH vehicles and nearly struck a parked car.

Some people here are actually believing parts of the alderman's story. That's just sad.

I think it's funny that the alderman was upset for getting pulled over for a "petty offense". This is the same man who called the 014 Commander last year to report a cement truck in the alley. The cement truck was pouring concrete. The DC ordered the Officer to ticket the driver.
