Free Shotguns!
The Armed Citizen Project is giving away free shotguns in Houston, Tuscon, Indy, New York and yes, Chicago:
- The Armed Citizen Project, with the support of the National Rifle Association, hopes to provide free shotguns to citizens of 15 cities by the end of the year, reports CBS Chicago.
The group, based in Houston, announced their goal at the NRA convention this week. Free guns have already been given away in Houston.
Kyle Coplen, the group's founder, plans to arm residents of middle- to high-crime areas, and wants to arm one fourth of the neighborhood. The group also aims to provide signs to let potential criminals know the areas are armed.
The sign thing seems a little much - after all, who doesn't like a surprise? Why point out who has a shotgun as it may make certain houses targets. Better they should break in and be surprised like everyone else.

One positive note: most stores that sell ammo do have shotgun shells. Handgun ammo is still MIA except for Big Sis' minions.
Best home defense weapon is a compact semi-auto shotgun... Four in the tube and one in the pipe with a side-saddle shell holder for just in case... Reduced power loads for the elderly, disabled and small in stature.
The signs aren't for the homes that are armed, but for the neighborhood in general. The idea is to 'notify' those who were thinking of committing a crime in that neighborhood that there is a decient chance of confronting an armed resident. The project is part of a study to determine if areas with a higher percentage of legally armed residents results in lower crime. Shotguns were chosen for relative ease of use, effectiveness, and low cost.
Surprise, Bad Guy.
Do they come with the instructions from Biden to shoot thru the door?

I choose a shotgun for the same reason Chester Proudfoot chose a shotgun.
Center Mass = Center Mess or Center Missing.
Either result is not only acceptable, but exceptionally entertaining.
Chalkie
Chicago could use the entire out put from remington and mossberg, right Garry.
Thats's awesome. Gayry and 9.5 are not.gonna be happy. I love it!
the dept should sell all the 870's they have. it is simply rusting away taking up space in the already crowded radio room. some depts hold auctions of ceased property and support police organizations, and other non-profit organizations. it is revenue for the city and the citizens. with the extensive training we have with shotguns, i'm not sure if anyone would be comfortable carying one in the trunk as the spare tire rocks back and forth on the barrel.
